How to loose weight and see the abs.

I have abs but I also have that unwanted pouch.

How do I loose weight to reveal the abs?

Eat all natural foods, like lean meats and lots of fruits & veggies and stay away from processed foods, especially carbs & sugars. And do LOTS of cardio.

Good luck.

I have that pouch too.  I have always had it, even when I was a kid.  I think some people are just built that way.  No matter how much weight I lose, if I want to get rid of the "over hanging" looking tummy, I will probably have to have it cut off.

On a lighter note, if you have lost a lot of weight recently, your skin might just be slow to tighten back up.  Don't give up!

Everything I've read from trusted medical sources tells me two things. 1) The only way for any of us to reveal our abs is to lose fat 2) Spot reduction does not work. You have to lose weight and your body will decide in what order your fat deposits come off. Sadly for many if not most of us, the abdomen comes last. :-(

Spot exercises on the abdomen will strengthen your muscles but are useless for revealing them.

How do you lose that fat? This entire site is devoted to the topic and you will find all kinds of individual philosophies about how to do it. The basic thing you can't get around is that you have to consume fewer calories than you burn. You do that by increasing excercise, decreasing calorie consumption or both. The details of what kinds of food to eat have to do with losing weight in a healthy way. It's very possible to lose weight and be very unhealthy. Those are usually the quick fixes.

thank you for your down to earth reply about ab fat. lol Too bad there isn't a magic wand for this sort of thing! lol I would be the first in line to get it!

I think its 10% Body fat you need to reveal your abbs, your back and legs have alot to do with how toned your midsection looks.  The over-all more muscles you train the faster your body will burn fat, and that will lower your body fat, and you will reveal your abs.

No, for a female down to 10% body Fat is considered an ED.  15-20% considered athletic 20%-I think24/25 is normal, I have to double check but I am sure a trainer/body builder can give us some insight.

anyone?

It depends on how much you want to reveal. When I was at 11% body fat, my abs were very noticeable; however, I was also incredibly sick from Crohn's disease and eating constantly to try to keep weight on.

Remember, if you are looking for a hollywood midsection, you are looking to be unhealthy. Actors are generally less concerned about health, and more concerned about looks.

Go with healthy, and you'll look and feel great. I believe 15% body fat is low but still  healthy for an athletic woman, but I am not sure.

ehhh, I dont really know about that...veins from muscle are usually revealed around 8-9% body fat, so 15% is not too low, at all. Im at about 9% myself, and I don't show my abs at all unless its early morning and I have no food or water in my system. I lost almost 200 pounds, so unfortunately, my skin tightening up anytime soon is pretty much a complete longshot aka not going to happen. I may just end up getting a tummy tuck....eventually.

But you're a guy. Guys and girls have different levels of body fat, and women need more fat than men to stay healthy.

Yes, true, thank you for adding that.

Very different levels for men and women. For women, essential body fat is 10-12%- any lower than that and most women will lose their periods and their bones will start to get brittle. For guys it is only 2-4%. That is essential body fat, a healthy level is actually higher. Professional female athletes have around 13- 18%, 20-24 percent is still considered fit. The level for men is lower.

Most women will never see really cut abs without an unhealthy body fat percentage- our bodies are just not meant to look like that.

Eat health, exercise and keep calorie intakes in check. It may not be fast but it would be healthy.
