How to lose that belly fat?
So I'm losing weight. I'm eating healthy and the right amount of calories and exercising, am I'm losing inches except in my stomach. It's really annoying, because I'd rather lose the belly fat now instead of the other stuff. I'm not that big of person, so my belly fat makes me look 5 months pregnant. It looks worse now that I'm losing weight everywhere around it. Any ideas on what I can do to get that sucker smaller?
If you tend to store fat around your middle it'll be the first place to gain and the last place to lose, unfortunately. Also, we're usually in the worst position to judge stomachs because they never look all that good when viewed from above!
As well as getting down to a healthy weight the other thing you can try is to improve your diet. Fluid retention can settle on the stomach area and also shows up as cellulite and general 'flabbiness' in an otherwise slim person. Check your sodium intake and if it's over 2400mg a day chances are that you're retaining some fluid. As natural a diet as possible helps this..... ie. remove almost all the processed, ready-made, packaged, instant and diet foods and replace them with unprocessed wholefoods that need some preparation and cooking. Also, drink plenty of water in preference to caffeinated or carbonated drinks.
Good luck
Is it fat or is it bloating? Some foods can make your stomach bloat such as foods prepared with white flours and processed foods. A slight adjustment in your diet can relieve the bloating.
nah, it is fat not bloating. I actually have elimated sodium as much as possible from my diet. I've never been a fan of salt anyway. But I still check labels.
But that's the thing, my diet is very healthy and the only thing I drink is water.
belly fat sucks
hmmmmmmmmm
i can feel what ur feeling coz its been my problem as well ![]()
anyways my doctor recommended abdominal exercises (like crunches)
i donno what u r doing but they really r working for me ![]()
Try getting most of your daily fats from healthy sources and avoiding saturated fats like the plague. That has worked wonders for my abdominal region.
I have had pretty much the same problem, I've looked pregnant to people and even while losing weight, my stomach is the area I see much less change in. Overall it has gotten better, and may be do to the combination of exercises I do - running, walking, my Turbo Jam workouts (especially the AB jam which works my abs in ways I never knew could be done - I've tried several ab videos that usually are just the same kind of moves). If it weren't for the flab still in my stomach area I'd probably be ready to just maintain my current weight that I've recently reached, but I figure I'll keep working harder. Eventually that fat from my stomach has to disappear! (when it's completely gone from my ear lobes or pinky toes and my body has no other places to use it from!)
I recommend not just doing crunches, but finding a combination of ab exercises in addition to cardio and strength training.
It has taken me almost a year to start finally start losing my belly! I think the increased water and doing totally different ab workouts 6 days a week has helped. I truly think the addition of Pilates has made the biggest difference in my mid-section though. This is the first time in my life I have ever looked in the mirror and thought to myself - hey, my stomach is looking flat, and actually kind of good!
Hang in there and it will come off, it does seem to be the last place to see changes though!
I am 74 years old I go to the Gym three days a week. I have been going 9 years. I have a big fat stomach and can not get rid of it. I am limited to the exercise due to a bad hip surgery. Can not do tread mill, but do the stationary bike, along with other machines. I weigh 132 my goal in 127. 5fT 5 In. This is my first week. My weight was 131 when I started. (Go figure) I am eating 1100 or less calories. I do not eat the white stuff. Chicken, fish, fruit, veggies, soy milk. I can not afford a nutritionist. Can anyone help me? This is very discouraging. It is sooooo hard for me to loose. My body will not let go of the fat. I must be carrying 5 pounds im my stomach. So embarrising. Help!
well to you and mollybud
belly fat has a lot to do with how the colon is functioning...if neither of you have considered an all natural food cleanse..consider that. Never use pills.
The colon can hold up to 40 pounds of waste in chronic cases. And that will hang out.
Also there are numerous ways to get the fat off once your sure the colon is cleared and working properly.
Simple things like:
--sitting straight, breath so the tummy does not push out.
--Walk straight shoulders back..do not slouch.
--When sitting sit up right keep the back straight.
--always make a conscious effort to keep your tummy flat when you are doing anything.
--at night when laying in bed massage your tummy get the circulation going.
--Consider joining a Yoga class the instructors have great abdomen exercises.
--inversion therapy is also something to look into if all else fails.
You are 74 ...132lbs, 5' 5"...1100 calories...that is excellent...the beer gut, spare tire...is not nice...but if you find none of the above ideas do not work there is more.
do you drink a lot of soda.......diet or otherwise?
are you doing a lof of coardio in your work out?
I am just the opposite, I lose my belly fat first and I am at the point that I want to lose butt and hip fat rather than belly fat!

All these things will help to give the appearance of a flatter stomach, but none of them will actually result in fat loss.
I hear you! I have had 6 kids in 10 years and my tummy is suffering! I've lost 16 pounds in the last 2 months and I love how I look except for that darn tummy! I know I also have quite a bit of skin due to how many pregnancies I've had but there is a lot of fat too!
Right now I'm going to concentrate on getting to my goal weight (another 7 pounds or so) and then try the Hip Hop Abs dvds and see if they help. I know I've lost a few inches but my tummy is much bigger then others my same height and weight.
I do jacknifes at night. They have helped more than anything I have every tried. I try to do at least 90 (in three sessions of 30) every other night. You lie back flat on the floor with your arms extended above your head, raise up and from a V shape and lower yourself. Repeat as you count.
