BUMP!!

please anyone?

Have you done you burn and cal meter?  If not do it.....and see what it tells you.

I know from experience...by keeping your cal's to low, you will NOT lose you body is going to slow down to a halt and hang on to everything you put in it.

The best advice you CC for what it is for and eat the cal's they say....you will lose but it will be VERY slow....because you have so little to lose.

The burn meter says i burn 1600 cals on a sedentary day and that i have to subtruct by 500 cals per day to loose weight so i have to eat 1100 cals a day??

Doesnt seem like much =(

How old are you?

Im 17 (almost 18)

At 107 you would be underweight at a BMI of 18.4, which is not only unhealthy but can also be extremely hard to maintain and would cause a lot of health problems. At 118 you are at a healthy weight for your height. You should reevaluate why you want to lose weight.

Its just i feel i carry my weight badly so i thought losing a few pounds might help.Although i dont want to be underweight so i might try for 110-114lbs instead.

So you must eat at least 1500 cals a day, bare minimum, b/c you are still growing/developing.

It is very unrealistic to plan to lose that much weight at that rate at your current size. Losing 1% of your weight per week is about the best you can expect, but the closer to your ideal weight (what your BODY wants, not what you "think" is ideal), the harder it becomes to lose unless you let the rate of loss slow down.

Furthermore, nce you are 18 or so, it will probably be unhealthy for you to weigh 107; it is not a normal weight for a woman's body at your height. You will need to accept a mature body as you get older and since you are nearly there, maybe you should readjust your goals.

If you focus on fitness and not the scale, you will probably see better results. Working out will increase your lean muscle and allow you to lose any excess fat slowly (it increases your resting burn rate, too). The scale may not change, but you will be slimmer b/c muscle takes up less room than fat (lb for lb).

Good luck.

At 8st 6lbs 118lbs and 5'4" you are are healthy weight for your height so losing weight is a really bad idea.  Cutting calories is also a really bad idea for a growing teen (and your body doesn't stop growing until about 20)  because your body needs the best nutrition in order to develop healthily.   Check out your stats on the above link and you'll see that with a 'light' level of exercise you need about 2000 cals a day to maintain your weight.  Choose good quality wholesome foods (plenty of vegetables, fruit, wholegrains etc.) drink a little more water and start to get some exercise.  That will change your shape much more effectively than 'dieting'.

If you feel you carry your weight badly, then it might be worth your time to start weight training.  Building muscles might help.  But that would also have to be done with an increase in calories, just to make up for the calories you burn doing so.

The link gi-jane posted is really good.  I would suggest going there.

Hmm...I'm 5'4" and I currently weigh 108 (which is the lowest our height is supposed to go). I definitely don't look too skinny at all. It does depend on your body frame though, so it could be too low of a weight for you.

Looks like you could be eating more though. Definitely concentrate on exercise.

weight training...definitely what you need.  Losing weight won't make a difference, you're at your lowest weight that's considered healthy for your height, eat a lot of protein and a maintenance amount of calories and try a program like New Rules of Lifting for Women (a book)...it's fun and very good for toning up!

I'm sick so I won't get into a lengthy explanation... I'm going to join in on the 'weight training' wagon. You are already at a low weight for your height and going any lower than this will be unhealthy for you. Increasing your muscle mass will allow you to 'look' leaner without losing weight. DO NOT concentrate on the scale.

You really don't need to lose weight, as many people above have already posted. I also want to add that your measurements are very ideal. You have a perfect hourglass figure. This means that your weight is evenly distributed. I am extremely jealous, because I am pear-shaped (i carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs). Only 8% of American women have this shape so consider yourself very very lucky.

I think you should re-evaluate why you feel you need to lose weight. Your BMI and measurements are perfect. Maybe it's an emotional thing.... maybe you see your classmates who are a size zero, and want to conform to that image? My advice is for you to accept your body for what it is, and to realize that you look good! You should focus more on health, and nutrition, and getting plenty of exercise. Strength training is some good advice also. This way you can build muscle, lose fat, but not necessarily lose weight, as you do not need to lose weight. But tone up a bit, maybe you will feel better about yourself.

Please let us know your thoughts! Messege me if you just want to talk. I am the same age as you, and when I came on to CC I was intent on losing weight, when I didn't really need to, so I think we would have a lot of common ground.

mkculs is nuts (sorry) but you should not eat 1500 calories a day at your age!! Follow gi-jane's advice at about 2000+

If you want to change your body SHAPE, (your weight is fine for your heighth.) Start lifting weights. Don't know how? Check out the New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women group on cc.

Eat healthy and clean. (If you don't know what clean is, google it!) Don't go down the slippery slope of fad diets, cutting calories, unhealthy eating!

Carolan5111 -- I don't think it's necessary to call anyone "nuts" even if you put the qualifier behind it.  What MKCULS said was that 1500 was the BARE MINIMUM she should be eating -- and that is correct information.

Jblarghp -- I think the important thing to remember is that this young lady is only 17 -- and so weight requirements (as well as calories) are different than if for someone over 21 (which I believe you are?).

OP:  108 is a healthy weight for you -- although it is at the absolute LOWEST end of the spectrum.  However, losing 11lbs from a healthy weighted body is a very difficult task to do.  You would be best suited towards following the advice of those that advocate eating relatively cleanly and lifting weights.  You're overall weight may not change, however your shape may, becoming more pleasing to your eyes.  You cannot use the BMI/Calorie Target tools on this site -- they are designed for adults over 21.  Jane provided you with an outstanding tool to determine your base level calorie requirements.

i lost 30 pounds having surgery on march 12 and would love to love 10 more 138 current and 128 meal ideas I do go to gym and do tred mill and stuff
