Or if you don't celebrate, lose 30 pounds by December 25th.

I'm starting a weight loss club for people who wanna lose 30 pounds to look good around the holidays. It's a time of year when you're around family much more often, and see many people that only come around once a year. Wouldn't it be great to shock them this year with your new body?

We will have weekly weigh-ins to keep track of everyone's progress. And with everyone's support and encouragement in this group from their peers, we should all feel more motivated to reach our goals.

When joining this group, please post a little bit about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses and your expectations, so we can all get to know each other a little better.

WHO'S WITH ME?  :)

dissapointing but with my birthday, halloween and my anniversary i guess it's to be expected, my measurements went down tho so that's always good:) I guess I just have to do better next week. good luck everyone

I'm going to see if I can't find a way to post some pictures of my progress.  I personally don't think I look all that different after 30 pounds, but that's just me I suppose.  Well, apparently I have to post pictures on my personal page so if anyone doesn't believe me, I have pictures so you can see for yourself.  There is kinda some progress, but I guess I'm just really picky because I expected myself to look like a rail.

And like Deloughy said, it helped that I didn't have a full time job because that allowed ample time to go to the gym and prepare all my food.  However, now I have a part time and a full time job.  The lack of time does allow for some good food craving control, so I need to be sure to pack lunches.  And really, as long as I don't eat much sugar and just limit myself to fresh vegetables and home cooked meals, and eating plenty of poultry, the weight seems to fly right off.  I didn't even reach the 30 pound goal until my first day of working for the postal service.  And now I'm actually 3 pounds beyond that, last time I checked.

You definitely look thinner around the face area, posthumanfetus.  Remember though, your overall goal is still, what, 50 pounds away? Not to be discouraging or anything, but you are still quite a ways from that, so I think that expecting yourself to look like a rail after 30 (when you have 50 more to go) is unrealistic.  Also, its hard to tell because you are wearing baggy clothes, quite frankly.  Just some comments.

I didn't really expect myself to look like a rail at 217 pounds, I think.  The picture at 232.5 pounds, yeah, I was wearing baggier pants.  I wasn't entirely comfortable with showing what I looked like, I think.  The 217 picture is with wearing actually tighter clothes, though, but it's at a weird angle too.  I think the upper body part definitely is what proves that improvement has been made.  I do still have 50 more pounds to go (well, actually 49.5 because I lost another half pound last night) so once I get there, that is when I can wonder why I don't look like a rail.  This active lifestyle really does wonders for weight loss, though.  Even if I don't watch what I eat, I still seem to lose weight regularly now.  I just make sure that I don't spend too much time on any one particular meal,  and I start getting bored with eating it, I put it away for later.  I don't go for seconds, and I generally eat what is available.  To be honest, I haven't really checked my calorie intake in at least a month.  I just haven't had much of a need to because I have an estimation of the nutrition of my food.

I know today is only Friday but I have some posting to catch up on since I was away. Well, I came back from vacation dedicated more than ever because being in the hot, hot Florida heat and the humidity, and wearing shorts and tanks made me feel a little uncomfortable. Why? Well, the heavier you are, typically the more heat bothers you. I get incredibly bothered by hot areas and develop headaches really easily when in them. Plus, wearing shorts with fat legs made me feel really bad. I didn't like that feeling at all. I promised myself that when I got back, since my work schedule has died down tremendously, I can now focus on my diet much, much more and hopefully reach that goal I've been dreaming about for the past two years.

So here are some updates, and everyone have a wonderful day!!  :)

On Wednesday I weighed 168.8.

Yesterday I weighed 168.6. Yesterday I started the Crack the Fat-Loss Diet.

Today I weigh 166.6.

Hopefully I can get down to below 160 by next week.

Bye!! :D

Deloughy, I know what you mean about how fat can affect a person's perception of heat.  I used to get really bothered by the heat and come down with big headaches.  Now, I love the heat and I purposely keep the windows in my car rolled up so I can drive in a sauna.

Adversely, I'm incredibly sensitive to cold now.  In fact, I'm nearly always cold because I don't have such a heavy layer to keep me warm.  It may sound stupid, but fat really does keep a person from getting cold!  So at wal mart, whenever I have to go into the deli freezer, I HAVE to wear a coat otherwise I start shivering the very moment I step in there.  I used to have a grace period of around 10 minutes before cold bothered me, but not anymore.  Now, it goes straight to my bones.  Very uncomfortable, but worth it I suppose.

So today, my meals were entirely tortilla chips with cheese and chili.  Then when I came home from work I drank beer.  This means I will most likely gain weight tomorrow, which isn't so bad.  This only means I need to go a couple days without really watching what I eat (keep in mind, though, I watch how MUCH I eat), then go back to eating oatmeal for breakfast and chicken and vegetables for my other meals for a couple days and watch the weight fly off without even trying.

Now, keep in mind chicken also includes turkey.  THat also includes ground turkey and turkey sausage.  And vegetables can also mean cabbage and tomato sauce.  See what I'm getting at here?  All it takes is imagination, and "chicken and vegetables" can be some of the most amazing food I've tasted.  For example, get some ground turkey (I prefer this over beef now) and cook it in some olive oil.  Then add a little bit of water and let it start getting hot and steaming up.  Then add cabbage and keep cooking it until the water starts evaporating and you are essentially cooking in oil.  Then add only a really small amount of tomato sauce.  Just enough so that the stuff in the pan is glazed in it.  Keep cooking, then add a little trickle of vinegar and keep cooking it.  Maybe even put a lid over it so the steam cooks it.  Then, a few minutes later it should be done and it should be unbelievable.  It tastes to me like stuffed cabbage, but everything isn't stuffed and it's all out in the open.

And if you cook some turkey sausage in olive oil until browned then add some sliced cabbage (slice it into strips really) and put a lid over it until the cabbage is cooked limp, then put some parmasean cheese over it, it tastes just like spaghetti.  You don't even need sauce, it's delicious without it.

I'm just talking about stuff I came up with on my own since my diet was basically meat and vegetables.

lol- those sound pretty good posthuman fetus.  I would like to point out though, that if you are eating only meat and veggies for the most part, and weight flies off because of that, that's not losing weight without trying!  Especially if you make it a point to workout!  But either way, congrats!

deloughy- what does this new diet consist of? I hope that you had a wonderful time in disneyland!

I'm a little bit excited, because I decided to up my caloric intake to around 2300-2400 this last week, mostly because we have a big swim meet (had a big swim meet) on Friday, and I think I must have been limiting too much when I was eating around 1900 to 2000.  Anyway, even though I ate a lot yesterday as well (let's see... granola bar, bagel + fruit, foot long roast beef w/ cheese, baked lays, extremely large cookie, powerade, then after the meet, chipolte burrito (only meat, black beans, and quac though), and two small muffins.  My point? Lots of calories!

And this morning I was down from 160 all the way to 157.5? !!!

Typdrop,

First off congrats on the recent weight-loss success :)

As for the diet, I can do one of two (or both, if you want) things. I can either email you the book, or I can give you a summarized little quip about it (though this diet is incredibly precise and you must follow it 100% accurately if you want to succeed). It gives you a generalized meal plan, substitute foods for anything you don't like on the plan, the exact amount of each type of food group you should take in per day, etc. etc. It does not make you count calories but it does require you to stick to the actual serving size of everything you eat. It's really enlightening, highly accurate and works quite well.

After all, today I'm down to 164.4. :D!!

One of my personal habits is I drink a lot of water - probably at least two gallons a day. I am constantly refilling my glass, and when I go out, even if I am driving down the street five minutes to the local market, I bring a bottle of water to sip along the way. I read once that 75% of the time you're hungry, your body is just in need of water. Well, that couldn't be more true, as it definitely helps me curb my appetite. :)

Well, I'm still losing weight.  Working two jobs really helps with that, as I don't have all that much time to eat.  I still make sure that when I do eat, it is primarily poultry and green vegetables.  Granted, that isn't always available and that actually helps, to change it up every now and then.  When I see I don't lose weight for a few days, that's when I put more starches into my diet and try that for around 3 to 4 days.  Then I go back to finding poultry and green vegetables.  It does work for me.  I don't know about anyone else, but I finally shot past my 225 pound plateau and continue to lose weight regularly.  In fact, I lost another 1.5 pounds last night and am now down to 215.  It's pretty cool, but this isn't the best time of year to be losing weight, because now the cold weather instantly chills me to the bone the very second I step outside.

I guess I don't really have much reason to keep coming back to this thread since I already lost 35 pounds and Christmas is over a month away.  I wonder if I can lose another 30 pounds (minus the 5 I already lost beyond the original 30 pounds, that would make it 25 more pounds) before Christmas.  I don't really think I have enough time, though I do seem to be losing weight ridiculously fast now.  What was it?  Five pounds since last week?

Good afternoon everyone and thank you to all of you who have stuck with this challenge so far! Dedication is the key ingredient to success. That and lots and LOTS of patience. ;)

Today I am 163.2. I didn't expect to lose to much overnight this time because I accidentally went over my carb limit yesterday. I thought I added everything correctly in my head, but then when I went to log it in, the stuff totaled up differently. Oh well, I'll just have to be extra careful today~! :)

Here is a new recipe I found in Women's Health this month. I haven't tried it yet, but I am definitely going to when I get to the grocery store next week!

Belly-Stuffing Peanut Butter

Oatmeal baked with eggs, peanut butter and soy milk packs enough protein to keep you satisfied until long past your lunch hour.

Preheat oven to 375. Coat an 8 x 8 inch baking dish with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of old-fashioned oats and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon. In a medium bowl, beat 2 eggs and 2 cups of vanilla soy milk, a cup of water and 4 tablespoons of natural peanut butter. Add to the oats, pour mixture into dish and bake for 20 minutes. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons agave syrup.

I'm pretty excited about this.... I even upped my calories last week (+500ish) for performance, but since we don't have another meet for more than a month, this week is back down to 1800, so hopefully, with my revved up metabolism, I will lose weight quickly again.  Today is my day "off" on calorie counting though, so as long as I adhere to hunger pangs and portions, I can eat what I'd like.  :-)

Congratulations tyrdrop, punkrockriot, deloughy, posthumanfetus and everyone else who is persevering! To borrow a phrase, "Yes, we can!!!"

BTW, I'm looking forward to trying the cabbage "spaghetti." It sounds great, unfortunately, my local grocer had no italian turkey sausage this week, so I have to wait til next week. I do have some turkey brats in my freezer, so I picked up some cabbage anyway.
This is a good recipe for the turkey brats:
Slice up the brats (10 slices per brat makes it easy to log) and brown them. Slice a whole head of cabbage and cook that until it is limp. Add in the sausage, 1 can of stewed tomates and some caraway seed and let it cook til the flavors blend.
As long as you limit the sausage, you can just pig out on the cabbage! It is yummy!

I'm so happy! :D I did well this week. n_n; I thought last night I would have ruined it becuase I ate two chocolate things..yes they're really called chocolate things.  They're bread from a local bakery that has chocolate chips rolled into them.  But they were tasty and my friend brought them especially for me from the Bay, so I was excited.  I feel pretty good right now.

Only 9 lbs to go. Its really helping that a work friend and I are both working on losing weight.  She's on WW.  We walk 5 mi everyday after work (up from 4 mi recently). We also keep each other from eating the snacks that we are "supposed" to bring to work every week.  Yes, we are all assigned a day to bring snacks to work.  We don't go in the work room even if there's something healthy.  Too tempting and don't want to get in the habit.

Everyone keep up the good work!

jenlett! good job girl! I know that i've seen you around on the forums for quite a while, and you always seem to be hovering around teh 120 mark, so 116 is SO good! Great job!

Lol, I guess too many people aren't sticking with this anymore. Normally there are about 20 - 30 posts by Monday; and many people joined, introduced themselves, and then were never heard from again.

Just wondering if the few of you left got a message at all from the moderator? For some reason, they thought it was a good idea to wait two months into this thread to change the category it was under. So now I'm wondering if most people can't find this thread anymore, or if they just stopped caring, lol. No idea. Oh well, good job to those of you who are still sticking with this!

Today I am 161.6. I went for a two-hour walk yesterday and another two-hour walk today. Exercising like that really helps. I also do an average of 60 pushups and 180 "hydrant" kicks throughout the day. I pack-on the protein and limit the carbs. This diet is great, I wish I'd have known about it sooner!  :)

Wow! deloughy, you are just dropping pounds all over! Good for you!

I tagged the forum when I joined, so I can always find it in my tagged items. That works for me. :)

I asked for email notifications, and it links it to the correct place, no matter which forum its under.  I thought that there was a message as well? Someone posted it I believe?

I feel like the people who are adept at using this site could find this again.... However, in any challenge that I have started, the drop out rate is pretty big.  I think attention spans last for about a month...

Well, I guess it just gives us the chance to get to know each other better!  :)
