Lose 30 Pounds By Christmas
Or if you don't celebrate, lose 30 pounds by December 25th.
I'm starting a weight loss club for people who wanna lose 30 pounds to look good around the holidays. It's a time of year when you're around family much more often, and see many people that only come around once a year. Wouldn't it be great to shock them this year with your new body?
We will have weekly weigh-ins to keep track of everyone's progress. And with everyone's support and encouragement in this group from their peers, we should all feel more motivated to reach our goals.
When joining this group, please post a little bit about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses and your expectations, so we can all get to know each other a little better.
WHO'S WITH ME? :)
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Games & Challenges forum. Sent messages to OP, thanks.
Hey guys,
Thanks wannaloseitall for your encouragement. :)
This week is gunna be nuts. I just got home from work tonight, then tomorrow I have my EMT exam to get state certified. Friday night I have a concert, Saturday night I have a Christmas party, then I come home again Sunday morning, then Monday night I head back up north to work Tuesday and Wednesday. The stress is killing me. My diet is doing absolutely awful because I don't go grocery shopping anymore since I'm running around so much. If I'm only gunna be in my house for not even two days, I can't go buying food so it can go bad.
I have 14 days.
I was thinking, there are a few of us that won't be meeting the goal by the desired time, however, it is possible we could continue this club until we all lose 30 pounds. What do you guys think?
Last week really threw me off. I wanted to use this week to get back on track, but that's not gunna fly because of all the chaos. And I haven't even finished Christmas shopping!! u_u
Hey! I'm officially at 156! This is great! I definitely haven't been this low since.... well, probably a year and a few months. I caught my reflection in the turned-off tv at my friend's place, and I actually liked the way that I looked! I cannot believe that I am down 14 pounds. That is a ton!
And I think that this time, since I am now cooking for myself instead of eating dorm food, I think that I know how to keep it off. I mean, I had gone through that unpleasant, stressful period and I gained temporary weight, but once I flushed the icky food out of my system I was still at the same weight...
Deloughy, as to your question, I would be willing to continue this group, except that I've got a huge swim meet in Febuary. About a month out, we start "tapering" which is essentially swimming less, and easier, and preparing to race. Haha, then I've got finals next week, and then 10 days at home celebrating various holidays (my 21st birthday, christmas, new years...), come back to school for a few days, then go down to florida where we start our training camp for swim, which essentially means 5 hours of working out per day eating out and having little control over what I eat, then back to school and that brings us to the middle of january, at which point taper basically starts.
What I am attempting to say, deloughy, is that I would be willing to join you, but I might still have 10 pounds to go in Febuary. I would love it if someone held me to this goal though, because I know that I loved the way I looked when I was 140. When I was 130, I got scared because of how skinny I was getting, freaked out that I might be developing an eating disorder (like the sister) and essentially started eating everything in sight. Since, that has been basically my relationship with food.... not a great one. Still, i'm almost half way there....!
Well I have been bad at writing on here. Sorry. I am finally stabily at 143lbs and that is exciting. Ive started to do weights twice a week and increased my intensity and distance with running. I go back to Alaska on saturday though and am nervous i might get out of my good habits because it will be cold. Anyways... here is my update!
Well, I was 158 on sunday... And this week is finals week, so I don't know. My eating has been really off and weird, so sorry if I gain. In addition, Saturday is my 21st birthday, so that'll have to be celebrated a bit as well. Anyway, I guess I'll talk to you guys later, and hopefully mitigate the damages around here a bit... (luckily I still have swim twice a day basically until next monday)

Good luck on your exams tyrdrop and your birthday! 21 is a biggie! Sometimes you just have to celebrate and I think 21 (and being done sith exams) is one of those times. I still remember my 21st birthday back in the stone age...well, at least most of it. :)
Enjoy - no guilt - then get back to healthy eating. We have to be able to live "real life" or eventually we'll just say all this hard work is just not worth it and go back to all the bad habits.
Good for you, too, runforfun. 20 pounds since September is great!
Deloughy, hope your EMT certification test went well.
Count me in.... I will be so great to see the results during the holiday season.

Thanks for starting this group. I really was not sure in the beginning if it was possible but I did it. Thank you everyone for your kind words of encouragement.
wow! Impressive! Great job tsc319!
Runforfun- you did a pretty good job as well, 20 pounds isn't 30, but its still 20 pounds!
Deloughy- you sounded stressed in your last post. How's it going?
This week is finals week for me, so my eating habits have not been what they should be. However, even if I eat waaay too much of junk food, I think that my stomach has shrunk, so I feel more full than I would have, had I been eating more... Also, I've continued to work out for the most part, so that's good too. So, I only have two more finals left, and this morning, I still weigh 156! yay! Granted, I know that's only 14 pounds down from where I started, but as to say, its still 14 pounds!
hello everyone!
i am very excited to join in! glad to read this was continuing past christmas! I am currently at 153 and looking to lose my last 30( have lost 24 in the past year). Just want to feel healthier and comfortable in my own skin. Looking foward to doing this with other people...the support will be great to have!

Total Loss: 8-12 pounds?
The reason I am questioning is because I really don't think I've gained 4 pounds, although I have been eating saltier foods lately. I'll keep you updated though...
so, after swim practice and after breakfast, which usually evens itself out, weight wise, I was 159.5, so I think I should go with that weight....
Haven't kept up well. My usual excuses being stressed ( I have a 17 yr old daughter driving me crazy, mother-in-law here for a month, and my son is home on his 2 wk military leave). This supposed "Happiest time of the year" is also the most stressful. I just ate a bunch of crap, and I really couldn't tell you what it was. That's very disappointing. I'm trying to learn to deal with those urges/emotions, but it got the best of me. I know I plan to continue the weight loss after the challenge is over. I'm not giving up. To tell you the truth, I'm surprised I have lost this much.

8 lbs to go.
@ almdennis: I got my EMT certification test results in. I passed! :D Now I can stop stressing over at least one aspect of my life. :)
@ tsc319: Great job! It's always wonderful to surprise yourself. Doesn't it feel great? :)
@ tydrop: I am still a little stressed. My cat has ups and downs on a regular basis, but the vet said he looks like he is getting better. Sometimes I wonder, though.
@ emily: Thanks for joining! I hope to see you around here often, good luck! :D
@ wannaloseitall: Keep going! You have come so far! Even though it is stressful, I hope you enjoy having your son home. My brother and sister are home for two weeks; one lives in LA and the other lives in Vegas. It's been crazy, but it's really good to see them, even though it's only once a year. :)
As for my own, I know I am currently not at 160 pounds. I haven't weighed myself in a week because I've been too busy running around with Christmas, the family visiting and my boyfriend is home for another couple weeks. And with New Year's coming up, a friend needing my help with looking for an apartment in the area, and some winter trips planned with friends and family while everyone's home, I highly doubt I'll have any free time until after January 2nd. I will, however, give losing the remaining 25 pounds my ALL until I succeed.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
