Or if you don't celebrate, lose 30 pounds by December 25th.

I'm starting a weight loss club for people who wanna lose 30 pounds to look good around the holidays. It's a time of year when you're around family much more often, and see many people that only come around once a year. Wouldn't it be great to shock them this year with your new body?

We will have weekly weigh-ins to keep track of everyone's progress. And with everyone's support and encouragement in this group from their peers, we should all feel more motivated to reach our goals.

When joining this group, please post a little bit about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses and your expectations, so we can all get to know each other a little better.

WHO'S WITH ME?  :)

Okay, so this week is a bit of a practice week so everyone can ease their way in to dieting and exercising regularly. It's a way to practice controlling your eating habits bit by bit, and build up your endurance bit by bit so it's not so hard of a start date when you're not suddenly thrust into changing all your habits instantly. :)

My boyfriend left a few days ago, and I was at 173.4 pounds. This was on Friday. I had gained 20 pounds over the summer due to his insisting on going out to eat constantly. I am now at 170.2. I was seriously overeating with him around all the time, consuming at least 2,500 calories a day. Now that I can eat what I want and not be pressured to over eat, I am only consuming about 1300 calories a day, and I'm perfectly content with that. When I would eat a lot, I felt disgusting for the rest of the day, and it always put me in a bad mood. Either way, now I'm on the right track.  :) I've been walking twice a day, for an hour each time, once in the morning when I wake up and then again in the evening after dinner. Next week I will start hitting the gym five days a week, and the week after I am going to start riding my bike to the local grocery store and shops instead of taking my car (nothing is further than six miles away).

Good luck everyone, and let me know how you're doing! Remember our first official weigh in day is September 1st, and then will be every Sunday after that.

Thanks for the advice!  I appreciate it!

Hi all, I had already weighed myself this morning, so I am at 173.5 which is what I have been up and down from for the last few weeks.  I edited my weight loss goals and I'm at 1300 cal from 1550.  I have broken up my meals by calories:

BF 300, LU 300, DIN 400 and 2 snacks  at 150 each. I thought I'd give myself Sundays open to eat whatever. Maybe I won't feel too deprived if I have a day I know I can eat pizza or desert without too much guilt!

I am really excited for this challenge and glad you came up w/ it deloughy! It's great that we can all support each other.  Have a great day!

SW 177    CW173.5    GW 145

Its Sunday!

Weight as of last week was 149.

CW: 148!

Thats 1 pound!

I'm glad this is a warm up week.

I'm getting back into good eating habits, and slowly back into good exercise habits.  Since everyone is moving in with dorms and everything is just beggnining the time to workout and how tired I am from the days work is taking a bit of getting used to.  My plan is to wake up in the mornings before class, and hit the gym.  Then, get ready and go to my classes for the rest of the day.  I haven't weighed myself as of yet, but I plan to on Sept 1st!

Alright, good luck all.

Hooray! my scale is being nice today!

8/17: 241

8/24: 238.4

Thats 2.6 lbs. Finally I am under 240. I've been working on that for three very looonngg weeks!

Happy Sunday!

Good Afternoon Guys!

Ok so I have to Join your group, I usually weigh in on Sundays and the current challenge I am doing ends 9/1/08 so this is perfect, just what I need to keep me motivated!!

I am a 23 yr old mother of one I work part time and the rest of the time just hang out with my family. I joined CC in January '08  after seeing some pics of myself and being stunned that that was me in the picture. I mean I knew I weighed almost 230 pounds but In my mind I did not realize I looked that big it was so shocking.  I have lost more than 50 pounds so far and am just past the halfway point to reaching my goal.  I currently weight 174lbs  so a 30 pound loss means my goal would be 144 pounds.  Wow ,  I think with your support and checking in weekly I can do this!  My weight loss has been slowing down lately  ( to about 1lb per week vs 2 or 3 lbs per week in the beginning)  so I need something to boost me back up to the mind set and drive that I had in the beggining of the year.

I want to be exhilarated when I look at Xmas 08 pictures ! Or even better be able to compare them to xmas 07 pictures and do one of those awesome before and afters!!  Embarassed  <-- dork

Hello everyone!  Hope your weekend went well.

Well despite traveling this weekend and eating out, my scale says the rest of the week went well.  Yahhh!

SW:173

CW:171.5

GW:135

Good luck to everyone next week!

deloughy, not to rain on your parade or anything, but perhaps, when we all reach our goal and your boyfriend is back again, you should sit down and talk to him about how that feels... somehow, I don't think that its healthy for you to feel pressured into eating while he's around.  I mean, if you plan or even hope to live a nice life together at some point in the future, that's gotta change, right?

Sorry, I just had to interject there.

Well everyone, I haven't weighed in yet, but I am using this week to get all the kinks out. I bought an elliptical off of craigslist! That was my first step. Plus, I got all kinds of yummy healthy food to take to work this week for lunch. I really want to lose this weight by Christmas...thank you all for your support!

I noticed on another forum that some people are mentioning what they are eating for each meal. I thought that this might be helpful so we can get good ideas from each other. Anyone in? Here is my day so far.

BF: Slim-Fast Shake

Lunch: salad and turkey sandwich

Snack:Skinny Cow-Mint Flavor (yum!)

Dinner: We are having tacos...I'm going to have to watch myself on this one...I usually eat one too many. I am going to try and stick to two.

I also plan to spend 30 minutes on my elliptical tonight.

I hope you all had a great weekend.

I'm down one pound, to 190. I think it's more like a pound and a half, because my scale isn't digital so I'm mostly guessing. It was a little past 191 before and now it's exactly on 190, so I think I'm doing well.

I moved into my new apartment today, YAY! I'm going to go for a run tonight to try to find a good route to run, and I've bought all my own foods, good low-cal foods, to eat... This should be a wonderful semester. Good luck to everyone!!

Thanks for your concern. I had tried talking to him all summer about it, but he insists there is nothing wrong with going out to eat as long as I am under my calorie limit. I argue that going out to eat is my weakness, and argue that restaurant food contains too many calories. He doesn't understand that going out to eat prevents me from having a full, satisfying meal because you can only have a small amount of food without being over your calorie limit, leaving you wanting more.

Any advice on getting him to see things from my perspective? I'm hoping once he sees how successful I am with my diet, he'll understand why I won't want to go out to eat.  :)

I have a general meal plan if anyone's interested in seeing it.

Breakfast - Choose one of the following:

  • Omelette - Two eggs, one slice American cheese, spinach - 300 Calories
  • Yoplait Crunch - 200 Calories
  • Bowl of cereal with milk - 240 Calories

Lunch - Choose one of the following:
  • Sandwich - 2 slices bread, 2 slices meat, 1 slice cheese, mustard - 400 Calories
  • Soup - 310 Calories
  • Salad - 400 Calories

Dinner - Choose one of the following:
  • 3 oz. seafood - 350 Calories
  • Cup of rice - 160 Calories
  • Fried vegetables - 180 Calories
Snacks:
  • Polly-O cheese strings - 70 Calories
  • Babybel cheeses - 70 Calories
  • Protein shake (possible meal replacement) - 250 Calories
  • Any 100-Calorie snack packs
  • Quaker Oats granola bars - 90 Calories

These are just some general ideas for now of what I've come up with to eat on a regular basis to help me plan my meals ahead so I have an idea of how many calories I'll be consuming each day. Obviously these aren't the only things I am going to eat for four months.  :)
I based my calories off of regularly stocked items in my fridge. I tend to stick with what I know so I have a better idea of how many calories I'm consuming without constantly having to check labels.
I want to try and consume the majority of my carbs for the day in the morning so that my body has time to burn them off before I go to bed, and consume as few carbs as possible at night.
Hope this helps.  :)

This morning, I went to the gym and then when I got out I was still feeling pretty energized so I did some grocery shopping and filled my gas tank.  By the time I ate breakfast and was ready to get into the shower, my weight was two pounds lower than when I weighed myself this morning.  Cool stuff, huh?

Allow me to introduce myself, people of Caloriecount.about.com!

I am a 25 year old father of no one, and I work in the deli section of wal mart, part time.  My starting weight two  months ago was 262, and through dieting, I've brought my weight down to 255.  I've recently joined a gym, which has helped speed up the process, so now my weight is 247 lbs.  My goal weight is 160.  I wonder if I even have an extra 100 lbs. of fat, or if I just have heavy bones.

Anyway, I can't think of anything else to add.

Hello! I would also like to join your group since I really need to blast these pounds away for good. I have been on an agonizing plateau for such a long time (4-5 months actually) and I really need to start losing some more before Christmas. :)

I'm an 18 year old college student. I lost the first 15 pounds of my weight when I was around 16-17. And now the scale won't budge at all. I couldn't even get it below 140.

Current Weight: 141 lbs

Height: 5'3''

Goal Weight: 111-115lbs

I'm having a hard time deciphering why the scale just won't budge. I believe that I have been eating healthily for the past 6-7 months. I avoid eating rice (rice is a staple here in the Philippines), sodas, fried foods and fast foods and I eat a variety of vegetables and fruits too. I also eat a lot of whole wheat products such as bread and cereals and low fat versions of possibly anything I could find.

I work out around 3-5 times a week. Cardio 3-5 times and weight training for at most 3 times. I have been doing this for at least 4-5 months.

I would really like some advice and motivation because I am obviously at the brink of becoming totally depressed by my weight issues. Being with people who have the same problem as mine is very inspiring. Thank you so much and have a nice day! ^^

Hurray for good motivation!  I could really use this as well as the accountability factor.

CW: 228

GW for challenge: 198 (under 200- woo hoo!!)

GW overall: 150

Hey I'd love to join! I'm 17, going to uni next year and don't want to be fat anymore! Looking to lose 24-25 pounds by Christmas. Christmas would be perfect as it's my birthday then and to lose all that weight would be THE BEST PRESENT EVER to myself. Anyway:

Current Weight: 156lbs. (Down from 184 :D)

Height: 5 foot 4 or somewhere near there (165cm)

Goal Weight: 132lbs.

I eat pretty well... so I don't think there's anything to worry about in that department. But I'm not sure what to do exercise-wise in regards to cardio and strength training. I started that C25K running plan and now I think I've messed up my knee a little. So, I don't know... back to walking till my knee heals? And what kind of strength training can you do without joining a gym or buying fancy equipment as I definitely do not have the money for it?

That aside, I wish everyone the best of luck and look forward to seeing the number on my scales go down.
