I'm starting a weight loss club for people who wanna lose 30 pounds to look good around the holidays. It's a time of year when you're around family much more often, and see many people that only come around once a year. Wouldn't it be great to shock them this year with your new body?

We will have weekly weigh-ins to keep track of everyone's progress. And with everyone's support and encouragement in this group from their peers, we should all feel more motivated to reach our goals.

When joining this group, please post a little bit about yourself, your strengths, weaknesses and your expectations, so we can all get to know each other a little better.

I'd love to join to lose 30 by Christmas.  I'm new on these boards so I still have to finish learning my way around!  I'm a mom of 4 wonderful kids, but since the youngest is 3 I don't this is baby weight anymore! 

I joined cc a while ago but then didn't use it.  Now I'm back and determined to make this work!  I'm 37, 5'7 and weigh 197.  I used to be an athlete and I know that part of me is still in there somewhere!

I just discovered something new... newish. I mixed egg beaters with some salsa, then added 2% milk cheddar cheese.  Delish. And I had a HUGE omlette for only about 275 calories. Its great! Plus, 36 grams of protein... and 60% calcium.

tyrdrop....I love that....I try to make that before work but I don't always get the time. I like to make it on the weekends but I do it as scrambled eggs instead and I make myself a separate portion because I like to add jalapeno's and my kids don't like the extra spice.  One of my favorite breakfasts I might have to say.

Okay, so I'm kind of worried about my eating habits. I feel like I eat too much during the day, but when the day ends, I still feel hungry. I also feel like I eat too much carbs and fats compared to protein. Anyone know foods, preferably snacks, that are high in protein?

Oh well.. I'll have to start all over again tomorrow. I just hope that by the 1st weigh-in the damned scale would budge, even just a little. Wish me luck! D:

kokobunn- I love kashi.  I really do.  They have a full line of products that have lots of fiber and protein in them.  I don't know where your calorie-allotment is, but I would recommend their cereal, bars, cookies, crackers, etc.

Other ideas for protein-ish: chicken-salad (use miracle whip) with kashi crackers. yummy.

egg beaters

light yogurt (usually around 9 grams of protein and 16 of carbs)

whole grain everything! It fills you up more, definitely.

ps- I'm still 167.0! that might be my official weigh in because I will be gone until Tuesday?

I dunno if we have Kashi here since I don't live in the US. XD But I'll try to look for alternatives though! Thanks so much! And congratulations on your first weigh in! You definitely deserve it! :D


I have a question though, about calorie counting. I read here that women need a minimum of 1200 calories in order to lose weight right? Does that include exercise? I mean,  should the food we eat PLUS exercise be equal to 1200 by the end of the day? Or does the minimum of 1200 concern only our calorie intake without exercise? I'm sorry if the questions confuse you. XD

I'm in! My goal is to be in the 140's by Christmas, 150's by October 15th [in time for a concert, and halloween!] Right now I'm 165. I've been making a LOT of progress lately, because schools in, and the weather is perfect, but I always have a hard time continuing my progress. soo I guess I'll check in once a week. My weakness is when I get a little down I emotional eat... and also my lunch time at school is 10:00 AM so when I get home I have a hard time not overly-snacking. Also, I consume wayyy too much sodium. Also, right now I don't have very much homework and no extracurriculars but I know I will start getting a lot later, and I might not be able to get to the gym as often. But I can do it.

New to this site and really hoping to stay on track. I have gained and lost over the last 6 years and now just want to feel healthy again. I think 25 lbs might be my goal but we will see how it goes. My problem is DH who eats junk and buys it despite me pleading with him to STOP. He finds it amusing that I can eat an entire box of Jos Luis if placed in the cupboard at eye level. Anyway, got a screw him attitude going on want to get the weight off...I wear a uniform to work and right now it is busting at the seams. I seem to consume over 1000 calories at night when the kids are in bed and I can sit and relax. School is starting in 2 days so time to go to the gym and plan nutritious meals..no more excuses.

Good morning everyone!  Well, this is our first official week, and i'm UP half a pound!!!  I know why, i think....We had a new hockey player staying with us this week who was trying out for our local team, and i missed lunch almost everyday, and i was running so much, i think my eating habits were the worst they have been in months....I'm still so discouraged, because for the last month i've been yo-yo-ing and i really don't know why....I still eat 1250 calories a day, don't eat junk, exercise 6 days a week, and it's fighting me!  Here are my stats:      &nb sp;               &nb sp;               &nb sp;               &nb sp;               &nb sp;               &nb sp;

Good morning everyone!  Ok so today my Current weight is 174  pounds , only a .5  loss from last week.  I am so miffed  I exercised for a full hour or more 4 days, ate same cals as usual choosing mainly healthy options so not to sure what I am doing wrong for my weight loss to be slowing down.   So to recap:

Goals:145 lbs / just to start loosing 1 - 2 pounds a week again.

** I am going to post an updated picture of me @ 174 so I can have something to compare it to a few weeks down the road.

Here is my weigh in for the first week. The beginning of this week went really well. I ate well, and I did 30 minutes on the elliptical every day. (I'm starting with 30 minutes until I get into a routine of doing it daily, then I will start adding time...hopefully getting to an hour at time). Anyway, by about half way through the week I started making bad food choices and I didn't work out. I'm pretty sure I didn't work out because I didn't feel as good and energized as I did at the beginning of the week after eating so well. Hopefully I can take that as a learning experience and do better next time.

Regardless...somehow I ended up losing 2 pounds. I am going to take that as encouragement to do better next week. I hope that I can continue to lose weight. I tend to get discouraged and give up when I don't see any progress. Hopefully with the support of everyone in this group...I can continue to make progress.

What's everyone's favorite low calorie dinner? I'm having a hard time coming up with good things to eat for dinner...all help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

So I don't know if we are doing the weekly weigh-ins on Mondays or Sundays (I thought it was Sunday), so here it is:

SW (August 24): 190

Also, I'm 5'9". So hopefully I will be able to lose at least one pound a week until Christmas (so about 18 pounds). I don't think that 30 pounds will be realistic for me, though I will certainly try :).

I did have a pretty good week, though I struggle with Friday and Saturday evenings. I try so hard not to give in to the wine and pizza that my boyfriend offers me on those nights (with a movie), but it's just so hard to say no. I also have this insane weakness for homemade garlic and basil tomato sauce w/spaghetti. I've reduced my intake of pasta to one serving (which always becomes more with more helpings) per week. Otherwise, though I tried to maintain 1200 calories originally, I find that if I change my intake every day never allowing it to be the same, then I am less hungry. I have also started exercising every other day.

Overall, a good week (except for last nights wine and pizza fest :) ).

I hope everybody else did well enough.

This past week did not go well for me but oh well......

Here is my weight as of August 31, 2008 - 215.3

 

This morning I weighed 245.  If I started at 250, and was 248 last week, it looks like I'm doing okay.  Yesterday when I came back from the gym I was 243.5 so it looks like 245 is my regular weight at the moment and 243 is what I weigh when I go to the gym, come home, and then shower, then dry off.
