Lose 10 by Christmas -- starting now!
I have been within 10 lbs of my original goal of 150 for at least a month.
I got all the way down to 153, and then sodium and stress bumped it back to 159, 157 today.
I would like a group of motivational girls to buddy up with who exercise, try to eat right, to work with on a challange to get to goal!!!!
I run with my dog and ride an exercise bike -- every day. I was using a Bowflex religiously with fantastic results, but I broke up with my ex of 4+ years and it was his..... so any strength workout ideas would be helpful! I drink at least 100 oz of water every day at work, more at home. My ex sort of helped me into a drinking problem with his World Of Warcraft addiction, so I am trying not to drink much and just be social vs. what I was doing..... I have no friends (except at work) who were not OUR friends, so I am struggling a little with boredom eating and long nights and weekends with nothing to do.... I live in one small town and teach in another, so there's not much to do for young singles...
Anywho, hoping to find a kicking group of hot chicks to lose 10 lbs by Christmas..... JOIN ME!!! ( :
Reason: Moved from Motivation to Games & Challenges forum. 11/28/08 Edited title per request of OP
my original goal was 5 by the end of turkey day, but what the heck- why not push myself harder- this might just be the motivation I need.
Aim high and I will at least succeed on the min. Aim low and I stay right here :)
Lets do it!
I want to lose a little more than 10 (maybe 20) but I'll do the 10 by turkey day goal with you also. I just got back on the diet wagon and definately need a jump start. I having been doing exercise videos on netflix and it's awesome. There are some really good videos out there (I'm sore). I have been trying to do them everyday, drink more water, always keep track of my calories and use the stairs more and park far away. I think I'm on the right track
welcome, bella and michl! ( : yay!
I know 10 is pretty amibitious, I would be happy with a few, but it seemed a good goal to get me to stay right through Halloween and the month of November....
I <3 netflix for videos..... tried the Jillian Michael's series?? she is one tough B. good small changes to make sure that you keep the scale going in the right direction! I found when I stopped drinking even diet sodium (too much sodium) and drank all water/Crystal Light and green tea, the lbs came off more easily.... there is hidden sodium in everything it seems like. bad for me....
I like your attitude, bella. I always shoot high, knowing that as long as I LOSE, I am a winner, you know??
How do you do on weekends??? I struggle usually.... recently splitting from my bf of 4 years means I have too muchtime on my hands and usually drink too much. maybe eat too much too, but mostly used to drink. I will be good this weekend. I am out of town to see an old flame, but next weekend, holler! are you on usually in the evenings/weekends?? That's my hardest time. Days are easy at work. too busy to be bad, and the workouts I pretty much have down. I am just very social girl, and it is hard to fill my time constructively......
hey -- bella, you mentioned splitting time between your hobby and reading..... mayb I ask what your hobby is and what you like to read? I am a voracious reader.
I think a jump start is a good way to get your head in it, I am with you on that michl. Yea for at home workouts- you don't have an excuse of not feeling like going somewhere :) We have a nice HUGE gym in walking distance and work gives the bf and I a great discount- I love it when I am there, just have to get myself there more often :)
That sodium is sneaky! Even the "healthy" frozen dinners are loaded- I have also found that fat free stuff tends to have more sodium....
Weekends are usually bad for me in the eating and drinking- I do get activities in though, but that is when I have more time to dig in the fridge.... Work days are easy for me because I pack a certain amount and that is what I stick to. I don't get around the computer much when I am at home, but I will sneak in a little more often.
Hobbies, well, they are what I want to be my hobbies, but I either get lazy or try to pack to much stuff into an evening or weekend- my "to do" list gets too long and I either avoid it or just never get to the bottom..... something I am working on- if I do smaller lists, I won't get overwhelmed. BUT I want to learn to sew, knit (I can do basic basic scarves) and photography... I really like to take pictures and my mom actually has used a few for decor and has asked for more, but those were just accidently nice and I would like to learn more about lighting and really how to use it... And reading, I hate to admit, I haven't done much (do books on tape count? lol). I like to read anything from magazines to scary novels- and wwII era stuff... Any time you have a great suggestion; I would love to hear it! Are you an English major?
YAY -- this weekend is a bad weekend example, but I am usually home all weekend, broke, with little to do, esp. now that I am single and can barely afford food! I would love to see a more active weekend post for sure.
ESPECIALLY "healthy stuff" has lots of sodium.... stinks
I still run or bike even when hungover ---or when I USED to be... trying to avoid drinking to that point any more.... It;s good self punishment for getting drunk, right?
I teach English. 7 years now....weird. I LOVE READING> books on tape count =P lol -- like vampires? I loved the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer and I like the Marked series by the Casts. ROse Madder by Stephen Kingis my fave by him,...... not all scary, but about an abused woman who escapes her husband and lives her life right. I love lts of people. ( : I too want to learn to sew..... I asked for and got a mchine like 5 years ago for my bday and never learned. My mom is willing to teach me too --- just have to do it. I want to make curtains first, then on to skirts/pants!!!!!!!!! Maybe next weekend, we can say we will devote at least a few hours to sewing, huh, bella?? I like photograhy too -- I have a digital I love, no desire to learn the hard stuff, but rock on for you, girlie. MY mom taught photography at university forever, so I have a resourse for you. ( :
good for you for running or biking either way... for me it would depend, but like you said- lifestyle of the past!
I don't know about vampires, but if it is well written, I can get into almost anything. I love Stephen King, but it has been so long since I have read any of his stuff. Going to the library on Sat, so I think I will pick up Rose Madder. I love to read, but haven't- I don't know what happened :( I used to read books like crazy, but then stopped- I have been dumbed down by the TV.
I asked and got a sewing machine too! Just have to use it. My mom is willing to teach, BUT (love her to death) she is a horrible teacher! (something she has passed down to me)... she gets frustrated or just plain takes over when she tries to show me something-lol, come to think of it; her mom was the same way. Curtains would be cool. Pants and skirts even better- how many times have I looked in my closet thinking- I love that material/pattern- if only I can make it wearable again- and how much money that would save!! Deal- some sewing will get done next weekend!
edit> would love any suggestions for books/guides on beginning photography if your mom has any suggestions :)
I want to lose 10 pounds by Thanksgiving. Actually my goal was to lose 10 pounds by Halloween.. and I was doing good I started at 108.. got down to 102.5.. and then this past weekend it was my boyfriend and my 6 year anniversary and he took me out on a surprise trip for the weekend.. and I ate more food over the past few days than I think I have eaten in this whole month combined seriously, I am back up to 109.2 pounds! =( so that sucks and I'm very discouraged but I guess I'll just have to try again this month.. I'm 109.2 now and I'll make my goal to be 99.2 by thanksgiving.. i don't exercise much tho I am trying to do it more but mostly i try to lose weight through diet I hope thats ok...
welcome nygirl! for sure, join us -- exercise and/or diet, whatever. ( :
congrats on 6 years!
I am feeling snacky which sucks ..

not as short as me syzhu, i'm only 5'0.. wish i was 5'3 =(
welcome and good luck by the way.. =)
ditto on the welcome, syzhu! ( :
I never thought I would feel tall at 5'6" LOL
I would give my left arm to be a fluctuation 135. =P I have been stuck in the 150's for so long...... 150 was my orignal, end goal though, so no real complaints, I suppose. I am happy and fit and healthy. I changed my life --- no diet, a lifestyle ---- which I never really achieved before. Exercise is second nature, and the eating is smarter too. ( : YAY CHANGE!!!!
Is it weird to ask what people's real names are? I'd like to friend everyone too, if that;s ok......
I'll join! I hope it isn't too late. I've been in the 150 for a few months now and I want to leave it behind already. I just turned 25 years young and I'm 5'1 on a good day... :( My ultimate goal is to be 120lbs but I would be very happy with a 10lbs drop. Count me in...please?!?!
janay101: no, it isn't weird to ask what people's real names are.. thats always the first question that I ask when I meet someone new online.
My name is Whitney, whats yours? Congrats on meeting your original goal and changing to a healthier lifestyle.. I am trying to get there but so far not doing so well..
Oh, and welcome, annulyju.. and good luck! ![]()
Thank you nygirl22 (whitney). My name is June by the way and I would love to make friends, I'm fairly new so have not made friends yet.
ur welcome.. i added you too, hope thats ok.. you too janay101
I am pretty new and working on making friends myself, so HELLO :)
My name is Sophia Bella, but friends and family call me by either, so whichever you are comfortable with :)
Game on then I guess :)
Should we weigh in on a certain day of the week every week or .....?
wow, janay101, I teach Spanish;) It's my first year though, I love it.
Weekends and evenings are also the worst for me. I used to feel like drinking was my only calorie problem but I have cut way back and still find myself consuming alot of calories. I have been trying to drink lots of water and it helps me eat less.
I hate halloween!! well, actually, I love it but the candy is a problem. I am very weak around it. Wish me luck with that tonight!
I think weighing in on a certain day is a great idea! It's really hard for me not to step on the scale everyday and feel frustrated.
Hello Sophia, do you mind me adding you as a friend?
Janay, I use to teach high school kids, but left that to teach college kids part time...so there are educators in the room!
I think drinking alcohol is also one of my major problems, I don't have a "problem" with it because I enjoy a drink, I don't have it every night like I use to or like I would like to just because of calories. And don't worry, I think we can all become friends now.
Michl, Maybe weigh-in on Wednesday? I'm just throwing that out there I find that it is a good medium... not too close the weekend that just past or the weekend coming.
