I would love to be involved in this. It is nice to know I am not the only one out there struggling. I am trying for 1500 calories per day and working out every day(if at all possible with three kids!) I can be so good, but then I will binge for absolutely no reason. It will be nice to have friends who face the same problem....my bf weighs in at a whopping 109 lbs and doesn't understand my lifelong struggle!!! Good luck everyone....we can do this!

B) sexycoolaires, I know, there are so many rules, but that's the basic principle. You generally (as I found out through a recent posting of mine) have to keep at least a 500-1000 calorie deficit daily between what you eat and what you burn (adding calories eaten, general calories burned depending on your activity level and any extra exercise) and if you do that consistently enough, you should lose weight. Apparently it's best not to have too large a deficit every day as your metabolism might slow down to compensate for the huge losses of calories, but something like 750 should be safe for an everyday deficit, although not realistic for some. Just play around with the deficit and see what works best for you. Good luck!
So I'll keep an eye on my calorie deficits and 750 is safe but I shouldn't go over 1000.

That is correct! it takes 3500 calories to gain or lose each pound, so if you keep a 6000 deficient, you will lose roughly 2 pounds!
Mind if I join you guys? I've got about 30 lbs. left to go too. Like sadawatts I lost a bunch and then gained some back. Not all of it, but enough to make it a bit discouraging. I could use some motivation!!
Hey Deb- we have almost the same exact goals/age/start date etc :) I am glad you are joining us! I totally know what you mean about keeping it off- I am a pro at dieting, then I hit my goal and think I can eat what I want- it just doesn't work that way, and once I hit 30 it all started going down hill!

! Finding it a great way to control your own diet - much better than any other I've tried. I'm aiming at 1200 - 1500 a day but can anyone give me some tips for the weekend!!!
I do really well mon - fri then saturdays are usually a disaster, mega busy day, here there and everywhere, dh wants a takeaway, kids want pizza, I want chocolate! So usually end up eating Nothing all day coz I'm annoyed and busy then starving at night and relent to a takeaway after scouring the menu for something with 'lower cals' (what a joke!) Sundays not so bad coz we have time to prepare meals and do ok. I think I should just cancel Saturdays or hibernate all day. Any tips?
sha08: My Saturday's are kinda similar in the fact that I put off eating. I've started carrying granola bars in my purse for when I need a bite. If I'm running errands and get a twinge, or feel like I've gone too long without food then I have a bite. I don't even like them, but eating a third of a bar does me good.![]()
Tomorrow I'm gonna start this Nutrisystem out so I'll let ya'll know how that goes. They sent 5 weeks of food.

Im getting married sept 20/08 and I would love to be 30lbs lighter...does this sound like a steep goal to anyone? Or do you think it is possible? I have a tendancy to loose weight fast when I cut out beer (I usually drink 3-5 a night-I know GROSS)potato chips, and all that other bad stuff for me :) So yeah, having some support would be totally awesome :)

Im going to try to eat between 1200-1500 cal a day, depending on how much excercise I am doing on that paticular day. I live with my fiance and have gained 20lbs in 2yrs--grrrrrr :( that being said he is a VERY big eater with a huge sweet tooth and a need for greasy junk food...He is 6'1 and about 170lbs, muscular--->it makes me sick! lol but yeah, we have gotten into the habit of drinking a few beers after work, eating dinner, then having a snack before bed which is usually chips or some other greasy salty snack...I would assume I have been consuming about 2500-3000 cals a day at least...beer alone has about 150cals per beer so yeah it really adds up...I've cut out alcohol completely, stopped snacking after dinner and I've lost 2lbs in the last 3days :D Yay right? I'm trying to keep up my loss but I want to do it healthy so that it stays off for the wedding...So far today I have had 1cup black coffee, and an egg white omelet (2 egg whites, green pepper, red pepper, and red onion-cooked with pam cooking spray) topped with fat free cheese and i'm sooooo full! My calories have added up to 270 so far...so today I will shoot for 1200, we will see how it goes :) Im soooo excited to have found such great support! This site is amazing :)
Anybody else have the problem of gaining a lot of muscle? I was a gymnast for years, and it seems that thought I'm keeping my calories around 1500 and working out at least 5 days per week, I'm barely losing any weight! i only lost .5 lbs last week and I have been biking at least 8 miles per night. I can tell my muscles are toning up, but why isnt' my gut going away? Any suggestions on foods I should be eating or exercises to help with the baby belly?
