Hey all!
I'm a 21-year-old college student who used to be active. My health has slowly but surely slipped away from me, and now I almost never exercise or cook healthy meals.
I'm looking for other women in their 20's to lose weight with me!
I weigh in at 166 lbs. and would like to get back between 135 and 140.
Anyone else out there want to lose the same amount of weight? We could motivate each other and help each other through! I really need a partner by my side or I know I want do it!
I'm in the same boat, pretty much. With the amount I want to lose, I mean. I'm 24, 5'5" and 150lbs. Unlike you, I have never really been at a "normal" weight; I've always been slightly heavier. I would like to get down to 135, and 130 would be just awesome. I started at 157lbs, so I'm on my way. Slowly...
Anyway, I exercise daily, cook often, and I update my journal pretty regularly and try to encourage others by commenting on their journal posts. I feel like the journaling helps me crystallize my thoughts and plan for things, or realize mistakes I've made and move on. It also helps me try to work fitness and diet into a little thing called LIFE. You know how it is; you plan to eat a healthy dinner and then your friends want to go out.
Feel free to message me!
Hey! I just want to say, IT CAN BE DONE!!!
I was kind of in your same situation. After my sophmore year, I had gotten up to 170 lbs (I'm 5'6" and very athletic, so it wasn't HUGE for me). I had started college at about 152-153ish. Now, one and a half years later, I've dropped about 20 pounds. (The scale this morning said 151, and right before lunch, I hopped on, just to see, and it said 149.5! I have not been in that range since my junior year of HS!)
Anyway, I just wanted to say that you can do it! Some tricks that I have found really work for me...
walk EVERYWHERE! An hour of walking burns somewhere in the range of 350 calories. Personally, my walk to school is between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on which part of campus I'm on. My friends think I'm crazy, because I don't take the bus, but serious, the bus takes just about as long.
Pack your lunch. Period. And breakfast and dinner if you need to. Its so much easier than trying to pick healthy options out of a cafeteria or restaurant.
Go easy on the weekends. If you drink, don't binge drink. 2 drinks really is enough to have a good time when your blood sugar is low anyway from watching calories :-)
Message me if you want to. I've still got about 10 pounds to go. :-)
Hey!
I haven't been on here in a while, but I recently began going to the gym again and trying to get back on the healthy eating habits. I'm outside the gym right now and I decided to see if I could find any added motivation. I'm 22 about 5'7 and 152 lbs. I would really love to get down around 130. My ultimate goal is to get to a point where I feel comfortable wearing a bathing suit in public, which I haven't done since I was 10. I know it takes a lot more than eating healthy and working out to feel good about yourself, but I know those things definitely contribute to my vision of myself. I would love to get on board with you! I've never been very good at the consistency thing, but maybe that is my "problem." I can see how that transfers to other aspects of my life. Not sure how this thing works, but I definitely need motivation too! I am not one for gym partners, but partners/friends in health to hold me accountable seems like a good idea! Let me know if you're interested! Thanks!

i'll join in!
i'm going to have to modify my workout and meal routine beginning next week when i start my new job, which will mean less work out time, and possibly less multiple small meals. i'm a little nervous for the transition.
right now i stand at 5'9", 174 pounds, 20 y.o., and looking to get down to 155 or 150....hopefully most of it will be gone before the new year..
oseya- with a new work schedule, you'll probably be busy enough not to think about hunger pangs, etc. :-) Good luck!
I'm in! I'm 22 years old, 5'9", currently about 167 pounds and hoping to get to 145. I started at 180 over a year ago, and have had periods of loss, then maintenance (and a bit of regain) since then, but now I'm hoping to push through and get this spare weight off for good! Do you guys want to maintain a thread in this forum with weigh-ins and updates, or communicate through journals or a CC group?
i'm not too familiar with the features of this site, but i would like to keep the group fairly small! otherwise, i just don't end up following threads and I end up doing my own thing.
thanks trydrop! i hope giving my muscles a rest for the first time in months will help out too.
I'm new to this site, I am 22 and weigh in at 170. Biggest I have ever been even when I was 9 months pregnant. I am looking to be back to 130 - 135 range. Any ideas on how to get it started or to keep it going or good foods to eat?
