Should I lose, gain or maintain? [pictures included]

Quote  |  Reply

So I rarely follow the general stereotype or what some charts say I have to weigh. I do pay attention to other people's opinions about it and whether or not I feel comfortable in my own body.

So I would like to get some opinions from you guys! Should I lose some, gain some or maintain?

Thank you :)

I would say gain maybe 5 or 10 pounds...possibly maintain

definitely DO NOT lose..

I think you should try to gain some muscle. You're a small size, but you look ... erm.. squishy? Perhaps weight lifting might give you some benefits!

you look fabulous :]  If you feel comfortable the way you are, then that's all that should matter.

do no lose.. maybe work out and gain  muscle.

Thanks for the replies, I'm taking note :)

Squishy is the perfect word, lol. I haven't been working out for the past 3 months due to a broken ankle. Still can't do anything for another couple of months. What do you recommend I do in the meantime? I don't want to be squishy for the summer!

Squishy? WTF? There is definitely NOTHING squishy about you! I can see you abs and biceps. I think you look very lean

.

I think you should stop worrying about what other people think.  You have to come to some sort of frame of mind where you feel happy in your own skin, and no amount of approval from other people is going to get you there.  Think about your healthy body, and all the blessings in your life, then go out and spread some sunshine.  :-)

Thank you once again for the replies *smiles at confidence boost!*

As for asking for other people's opinion; it's to avoid something called body dysmorphia where you don't see yourself as others do. For example, If I think I'm ok and one person says I'm too thin, i'll stay as I am because I feel comfortable. But if 10 people say I'm too thin, then perhaps I would have to reconsider, right? Same goes for being overweight.

definately DO NOT lose. you can see your hip bones, collar bone, and your legs don't nearly touch. i think you would look better if you gained maybe like...5-10lbs

in my opinionnn

Please don't take this the wrong way, but looking at the pictures, you don't look terrible, BUT..you do look a bit underweight......

I can't even imagine how you could consider asking if you should lose more. I would say you would look a lot better if you gained at least 10 pounds.

As for the squishy comment, I agree, that's a load of Bull sh**. You are definitely not "squishy." That's the second time I've read that word today referring to someone's body, I don't know if it's the same person who said it, but wtf? Whomever is just laying that word out actually know what that word means?! My god.

Overall though, I agree with another poster. You shouldn't care what others think and if you are happy, then maintain by all means if you feel you should..but I highly recommend that you do not lose weight as far as health reasons go.

I'm sure you are a very beautiful girl. :)

I don't think you look squishy at all! I think you're body looks amazing. If anything you could afford to put on a few pounds. Definitely don't lose.

But Lolly the thing is:  there are a lot of people on CC.  Most are nice, and want to be helpful.  Some are dealing with their own ****, and shouldn't be trying to advise anyone else.  But you don't know any of them personally, and they don't know you.  Except from a picture.  Now within the range of comments you received, several people said you look great, some said too thin, and one seriously disturbed person said "squishy."   So you haven't really gained anything.  But even if you had ten responses that all said you were perfect, you wouldn't know the whole story because the ten people who randomly chose to answer your question have their own motivations and hang-ups for doing so.  Remember: they don't know you!  If you are worried about being too thin, ask someone in your family that you trust to be honest with you.

Thank you sunflower59 :) and to everyone else!

I'm going to remove the pictures now, I appreciate all the nice comments. I've decided I will increase my calorie intake a titch, the thing is that I want to gain muscle, not fat. And not being able to exercise at all makes that a little difficult :(
