Can you lose inches without having a calorie deficit
I have started NROLFW a month and I have been pretty dedicated to following the workouts and schedule. However, I have been struggling with my diet. I will do well for awhile getting a deficit, and then have a few days where I am eating over calories and eat back whatever I had for a deficit the days before. I know that if I keep doing this, I will not lose pounds, but is it possible to still lose inches off my body because I am doing weight training?
Thanks in advance
Hi Keb,
I'm also doing the NROLFW and my experience is that yes, inches can be lost without a calorie deficit. When I followed the calorie intake suggested by the book I was eating a little over maintenance and I lost two to three inches from my waist and hips. At that time my diet was super clean, not even wine with dinner. Now I'm not as strict and I've gained back an inch, so what the calories are mattered in my case as well.
This would be a great topic to post in the group forum as well, since there are a lot of folks at different places in this same program.
I hope this was helpful,
Kristen
Has anyone else experienced this? It would be very encouraging if its true! Of course, I am trying to get back on track with the eating too!
Oh yes...I've lost 3 inches off my waist, two off my arm and so on without losing a single pound of weight. The weight doesn't matter, it will go off in a matter of time but as long as the inches go you should be really happy.....since oftentimes the problem is the other way round!
Strength training incorporates the muscles in your body, making it look more toned...and although the fat goes, your weight doesn't because it's muscle weight. But this is a temporary phase....and with all that muscle gain you'll see that your fitness level has improves, your metabolism is roaring and you'll be able to push yourself even more.....which will eventually result in the drop in weights.
