I have to lose 20 kilos or 44 pounds in 4 months. Doable?????
I need to lose weight for my job. It is imperative. I need to lose 20 kilos (44 pounds) in 4 months! Is it doable?
I should also tell you i am lazy, hate any physical activity, have no motivation, and i don't like those exercise classes. I bought some aerobic tapes which i am going to try tonight, IF i don't start with more excuses that is.
So with 40 mins of aerobics, and 15 mins of sit ups and eating right - is losing 20 kilos doable?? Anyone?
thanks!
I don't know that it is doable, but get the book Eat to Live, read it, and get started on it right away. Of course, the more you exercise, the faster you'll lose the weight. You should get 1 hour per day, every day as a minimum.
Well a healthy weight loss rate is 1-2lbs a week. And what you are wanting is just a little over that rate 2.75 a week. I don't know if you can or will lose 44lbs in 4mths but you can lose some weight by that point. I don't like exercise much either but you really have to do this if you plan to lose weight and keep it off. Also you are going to need to stick to a great eating plan. What are your stats and what is your planned calorie intake?
The issue with posts like this is that people rarely explain why it's so imperative.
Is it that you think you need your body needs to look good for a certain event or that you need to wear a certain dress you fit into 44 lbs. ago?
Honestly, I don't think you'll be able to lose 44 lbs. in 4 months healthfully. That's not to say that you can't make some phenomenal progress in 4 months and can't be healthier and look better, just that I'm not sure you can reach this seemingly arbitrary number in the time limit you've given yourself.
Maaaaaaybe you can do it. Question is, is it healthy? What is your job that sets requirements like that? Unless you are an actor like that British batman guy who I am sure had hordes of doctors to support him when he lost like 50 kilos for a movie, I wouldn't suggest it.
It's possible, I've lost 41lbs is 3 months or so but I had 60lbs to loose total and do over an hour of intense cardio and weights at the gym on a regular basis. It only gets harder to loose the closer you are to your ideal weight... I wold think it'd be better if you could push that deadline to 6 months...
If someone is overweight, they might be able to lose that in 4 months....however, I must warn you that it's not going to be as fast if you are "lazy". If it is so imparative that you lose this weight, shouldn't that be motivation enough to get up, get active and eat healthy? If it's not, then maybe it's not that important to you.
Thanks everyone!
momto - my stats? Well i am 1.62 cm and about 85-87 kigs! And my planned calorie intake is about 120o-1400.
hkellick, lennat and peaches- i am in entertainment, and have been offered an exciting deal that is going to propel me into the spotlight. I can't face the public looking so fat, so that is why it's imperative for me to lose weight - there is a deadline and my career and my dreams depend on it! It IS important to me, it's just that it seems so hard!!! I stared to eat more healthily this week, but am yet to start on the exercising part!
sickbxy - wow, you did it?! Wonderful!
hey i am in process of what you're doing ( but without the deadline) i started at 87 kg a little over a month ago and i've lost about 6kg. i exercise more now which really helps. i'm eating about 1200-1400 cals a day and i think you shouldn't shoot for a final number but instead stage completions. i've began by losing 7 kgs and from there 10kg at each interval. i think it makes it feel more rewarding when you finish a step in the process as opposed to 4 months of waiting. plus you can focus on the everyday instead of the whole project. as for exercise, think cardio. do some internet research on at home cardio options. good luck!
it is possible especially if you have a lot of fat tissue.
although i would suggest at least 1h, 1h30 of exercise per day! not less
Yes it is doable, I lost 50 pounds in about 5 months, and I'm not an exercise fanatic at all, some weeks I was lazy and didn't work out at all, other weeks 3 times a week for an hour max. The exercise it hard for me too, some days I'm completely lazy, but try do something small, even if its just a few situps in the morning or before bed, or a 20 minute walk whatever it is.
Good luck!
Think 44lbs in 4 months sounds like a high target but it seems to me the more over weight you are the quicker you lose. If you are 190lbs now and 5'4 (think i converted those right) you would have a BMI of 32.6 which classes you as very over weight (assuming you are female) I think if your body is carrying that much extra fat it should respond quickly to a change in life style, and 2lbs a week should easily be obtainable espeically at first.
Surely if you have been offered a job they offered it to you based on what you look like now? Surely your employer isnt expecting you to be slim otherwise he would have employed someone else
I would recommend going to a nutritionist, I went to the local Max Muscle Sports & Fitness plus I have a few trainer friends that have also been diet coaches. The Nutritionist did a body fat/ mass measurement and was able to tell me my original goal based off of BMI was totally unrealistic. He also offered a meal/ exercise planner for an aditional cost but my friends were able to set that up for me at no cost. Just a suggestion, we can give you all the advice in the world without seeing or knowing you personally but that only goes so far...
I found that when I needed to lose weight and wanted to do it quickly and easily, I had to suck it up and find an exercise that worked for me. What I ended up with was the eliptical, which is no stress on the joints, something that's important for somebody of my stature. It's easier for me then exercise tapes which require thinking and coordination, you can just get running and think about something else--watch one of the gym tv's, read a book, listen to music, etc. It's mindless, which makes the time go by faster. At first I could only do it for 20 minutes at a time, when I would shift to something easier, like one of the bikes. After around a week and a half though I could do the full hour, and was burning around 900 calories plus per workout. Then I could call it a day, shower, and was content that I had put in my time. I dropped 15 lbs doing that, though coupled it with an unhealthily low calorie diet, which burnt me out. That's why I like this site--you can balance calorie intake and exercise and not burn yourself out with a starvation diet or whatever. Anyways, if you're lazy, try for zero thought exercises like the eliptical--your local YMCA should have them.
Thanks everyone! Your words mean a lot to me, cos i just needed that extra motivation! Thanks!
Chelseagirl ---- well, in the entertainment world, they do things like that - they'll offer you a contract, but kinda stipulate that you should lose weight. It's not like they are demanding, but they'd rather have a client who wasn't so fat, and you know how society is - fat people in the public eye just get ridiculed! Look at what happened to Jennifer Love Hewitt? And she's not even fat! Plus it's more "my thing" that i want to slim down, i just can't face the public looking like this!
