Ok, maybe you all can help me. I get up at 6am and it's dark outside. I get home after 7pm and it's dark outside. So without a gym and being a single female what am I suppose to do?  There is no way that I am walking around alone when it's dark. I am motivated to start doing something but when?? The weekends of course, but I would like to do something everyday.  Any suggestions?

rachel206 -

Thanks for your message! I wish I had a bit longer to get in shape, but I guess I should have started sooner! It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful holiday at the end of May! I am sure you will be in great shape by then. I am trying to add more exercise (walking), but the weather is against it at the moment. I have ordered a DVD for walking in the house, I'll have to see how it goes!

Take care, and good luck with the weightloss!

(i've figured out the username thing, i have no idea what i was doing wrong before - lol.)

good luck everyone

smartgirl - I would suggest getting some sort of exercise DVD or video and doing it 4-5 times a week.  It's definitely safer until it stays light longer.  Also, some public rec centers have a walking track that can be used for free.  I don't know where you live, but most are pretty safe.

Good luck!

Is there a mall close to you?  Maybe you could go after a light dinner and walk around the mall?  You could speed-window-shop for that new outfit you'll be fitting into in the summer!  It wouldn't be HUGE calorie burning, but it's better than nothing!  Just make sure you leave your wallet at home :)

Also, buy a jump rope.  That's some cardio you can do in the middle of your living room in the early morning!

twinmama and mladdy:

Thank you so much. Those are some really great suggestions. I will have to do something now, no excuses! Smile

Yeah anything like an in home dvd works real well. I love Hip hop abs. Or you can jumprope, hula hoop, or buy one of those mini trampolines. All fun stuff :D
Anyways today i had 1239 calories. Not nearly enough of what i should have ate today since i had a basketball game. Also, I didnt get ANY sleep last night..I was all up night doing homwork so I know that is bad for my body. I had 56 g of fiber today! so happy for that(28 was fiber 1 cereal lol.) Carbs were 57% Protein 23% Fat 20%..i usually like 50 30 20, but this works.

hi everyone.

i've been keeping my calories around 1200/day & making good food choices.  i've lost 8 pounds (186 to 176).  it's amazing how much better i feel already.  my first goal is to drop a size (from 14 to 12).

have a good day, all.Smile

Hi All:

I just had a major let down. I was verbally offered a job and was just told the hiring manager changed his mind. To say I am dissppointed is an understatement. It's taking everything I have in me right now to stay encouraged. I had plans to work out, try the eat every three hour rule and now I am not hungry. I do not want to work out. I so needed and wanted this job. They seem like a fit for me. I just don't understand. I have been weighing myself everyday and there has been no change. Eighter gain one or lose one. This sucks. Big time. Anyone on the board now who can talk with me?

Waterwalker - I'm here!

That totally sucks about the job, I am so sorry!  Don't let it get you too far down, trust me, the reasons why people choose one person over another are sometimes very superficial and silly.  I am sure it is not a slight against you in the least.

The weight loss will come too, don't worry!  Just keep plugging along, eating healthy and getting some exercise.  Slow and steady and all that.

So sorry to hear about the job. Please don't let it ruin everything for you! You were so positive about getting into shape and eating healthy. The right job for you WILL come along. Meantime, you must look after yourself - keep as positive as possible. Your health is THE most important thing.

Take care, thinking of you.

Christine

Waterwalker ~

I TOTALLY understand your situation.. I was laid off for 6 months and was verbally offered 2 jobs and then never heard another word or something came up to where they couldn't hire me.  It took me 6 months to find a "real" job.  I will bet, that another job that you really want will come along soon and you will be happier there.. They say that everything happens for a reason.. Cliche I know, but I really think its the truth!

I know that sometimes when you feel down, its hard to stay on track. But keep it up, it will pay off for you in the end!! You can do it!! :)

hI EVERYONE I'M JESSICABROOKS I JUST STARTED JAN 9 2008 I WOULD LOVE TO JOIN YOU ALL IF ITS OK, I REALLY NEED THIS MOTIVATION!!

hi everyone  :D  i just tagged this thread, so i don't lose it.  i am so excited too!  i hope i can lose some weight though  LOL

that cruise sounds exciting!  there is food everywhere, though!!!  be careful...

and sorry about the job  :(  that sucks!!!

i should get one of them walking DVDs too.  i have a treadmill, but that sounds cool too.  it's nice to have a variety of things to use.  i have the "Red" and the ab lounge, but i don't really use either.  i am hoping to start using both.  at least i use the treadmill, but i haven't been motivated for a couple of days & then i remembered that i joined this group!  i guess that's a good motivation  :D

waterwalker so sorry to hear about the job.  Don't let it get to you though I am sure the right job will come along soon.

Hi Everyone:

I so love this board. Thanks so much for being there for me. The support from everyone was tremendous. I didn't go too far off of the track. I didn't make it to the gym though. I started out on my way but the thoughts ....those ugly thoughts got the best of me. But I'm much better. I proud of myself for not going overboard on the food. I've got the best support in the world and that's you great people on this board. Thanks again. I will keep on keeping on. I'm gonna walk on water and I won't sink because I will be too thin and too cute, enjoying my new high-paying job.

Sorry for posting the same message twice. My smile icon doesn't work when I click on it. Does anyone have anothe way they use it?

Good for you waterwalker.  I hope this serves as a reminder to all of you that you have a support system here if you use it.  I know it does for me.

I bought a workout program for the x-box called yourself fitness by prevention magazine it's been out for a long time but I had never heard of it.  It programs workouts based on your fitness level.  It even keeps track of weight and fitness progress.  I am going to start with just a goal of 15 min a day, but this morning I did 20 plus the fitness eval (which was tough and should count as working out too).

I hope everyone has a wonderful day

Cool
