OMG - I can relate I love my Italian grandma's cooking and I won't ever change that!  But I think if I lived with her I would have a hard time sticking with the plan.  Right now I live 1,000 miles away so when I do see her it's really a treat!

Pasta is def on my CC diet!!!  It's not bad in small servings, it's the cheese that really gets you.Laughing  yum

sodium KILLS me.  It makes me gain AND retain if I have too much.....

I like pasta too.......   If you do small amounts and as much veggie in your sauce as you can handle, it;s so gooooooodddd!

If I fail to post that list by like 6PM central time, somoen spank me so I remember!

sodium kills me too! My tummy becomes all bloated and my pants won't fit, it SUCKS. LOL I love salty foods. I can deal though because I have more of a sweet tooth.

Olivia, I'll save the spanking for your B/F. LOL BTW, That pasta sounds yummy.

ok, i think I'm not gonna worry about the salt so much since pre-packaged food is the easiest way for me to keep my calories down. I just need to make sure i am drinking more water!   I tend to have coffee or tea in the morning and not even get around to taking my first sip of water until 2 or 3 pm.

I love watching biggest loser too!  Its so impressive how much weight  they lose!

Wow, busy thread.  Being in Oz (Australia), I just got up for the morning and you guys have covered everything from the Biggest Loser to crunch and munch all in the course of my nights sleep!  Oh well, hope everyone has had a good day sticking within their cals.  Just got home from my morning run, I did 2.5 miles, which is usually a short easy run for me, but I did a Fartlek (random intervals) this morning and it kicked my arse!  I admit that I am also a biggestloser addict, but I get the biggest loser Australia here (they don't show the US one here anymore since they started their own version), but at least Bob and Jillian are still involved (they had a black team this year that was sent to the US to train with them.)  Well, time for breakfast and the start of my day.... here's to self controll!

*lightbulb* it's 50* out! I think I'm going to go on a light jog! yay! I loathe running btw... hate it... tried it.. don't like it.. but I could bike-ride around the world given the stamina ;) but I think I could handle a "light jog" :)

I'll be back to let you all know how it went :) workin my way to 133!!

ps... sodium kills me too.. I try to avoid it at all costs.. except for Saturday night pizza nights :)

so, here are a few tips on snacks for amaresmom )what I snack on and like):

yogurt

a probiotic drink

various fruit purees / juices for babies (they are often organic, contain no artificial stuff and come in portable, handy packs that are 100-150 cals usually)

a cracker or two, but they are sorta dangerous (ie triggering:)

a hard boiled egg

a bit of cheese (those small babybels things are also handy)

a latte

etc.

I didn;t eat enough today (busy), I did drink my water, and I did jog my heinie off because I was angry (long story -- see journal).   I jogged a short 2 miles the whole dang thing.  ( :

Scary thing ---  I have no idea what is for dinner and I am starving.

Warning -- really long list of snacks.....
I could make lists of snacks all day long----

better stuff first----apples. Cut it in as many strips as you can. Works for me when I have the "I want to eat a lot of crunchy, sweet things"  I nursed one apple and a 100 cal bag of kettle corn all the way through HP5! / bananas / melon / strawberries! / sounds gross---cottage cheese with a sweetener and cinnamon but is really sweet and creamy. I never really realized before now that cottage cheese is still cheese (DUH)----I saw Mike Rowe making cheese on Dirty Jobs and he made some comment about it. I LOVE cheese but fat free kind of sucks. Cottage cheese on the other hand really just tastes like what you put in it/on it. I like that with just pepper and a little salt or cajun flavor. Or dude! you can have a whole 1/2 cantaloupe for like less than 50 cals + it makes an awesome, edible bowl. The hubby might even like that...Fill with low cal sorbet, I do cottage cheese that way, other fruits... etc. 60 cal AWESOME jello pudding----the chocolate varieties ROCK (mint and mochaccino!), but they also have a decadent (i think a little cheesecakey almost) vanilla and a caramel I have taken to dipping apples and bananas in, also a yummy banana fudge supreme. I love them all. Down side---the bf does too ( : Just kidding.
sugar free hot chocolate (25)
mini caramel or cinnamon/apple rice or soy crisps (mine are about 18--a lot! for 100)
ever try the low cal cheesecake recipe on cc? I modified it for me and I love it. (between 18 and 40 cals, with calcium)
sugar free oatmeal (100)
Special K with berries/lite vanilla soy milk (200 total for a cup of cereal and a whole cup of the milk---I cut back to 1/2 cup just didn;t need it all....) (My non-dieting bf loves this stuff!)
Frozen whip cream is pretty low cal and I like it just as is.... 50 cals for a cup I think
Edy's fruit-sicles are 35 cals and YUMMY!
I know they have low cal Skinny Cow ice cream and that kind of stuff. I like to buy single serving things though. I was not very good at portion control before-----and I would feel sad scooping ice cream with a measuring cup. (LOL)
sugar free jello, dude, one cup = 5 cals--- you could (and I am not advocating this---I;m just saying) eat a whole box with whip cream for maybe 60 cals?

I have really enjoyed finding low cal/healthy alternatives since I joined cc.....I've tagged a awesome sounding banana cream pie (50) and guilt free mini pumpkin pie (50). All a matter of finding something yummy to replace the Devil Hershey!

Um, I do lots of cut up veggies on the cheap from my Aldi's. DO you have one of those? All veggies are super cheap. awesome super sweet, small apples are like $3 a bag, etc, I cut up bags of broccoli, cauliflower, cucumbers!!!, carrots, mushrooms, peppers if you like em etc. Snack on those with some lowcal dressing. I use fat free italian--10 cals for 2 tbsp, I love my low carb wraps for easy lunches--turkey, cukes, and lettuce, beans, salsa and lettuce, ham and cheese, etc. I found a high fiber wheat bread I like for 40 cals a slice = open faced sandwiches = about 100 cals. I like to try and have one huge salad a day at least...that's no more than 30 cals and I'm stuffed. I make really low cals soups in the crockpot (40-60 cals a cup) so I can have a sandwich, soup and a salad for maybe 200 cals....  I like rice cakes and soy crisps....they have all kinds...bbq, ranch, cheese, satisfying for chip subs, but be careful and count them out as a serving first because I think they are THAT good. string cheese sticks = 60  + an apple is a good snack. 100 cal packs of popcorn are huge--5 cups... yum. They have 100 cal packs of things like SUn CHips and stuff too--I got some for school....and I splurged and got the dessert 100 cal packs too, I love Lorna Doones (on sale) lol

I have found too that if I drink a big glass of water or green tea, that helps a lot. Fills me up now that I don;t eat so much as I used to. And I always try to go with the salad first. You can have a big one for not very much, good fiber, and I like them. ( :

Hope this helps a little..... Olivia

Wowza!  Good list, I would add popcorn mini bags (not movie theater butter, of course) also baby carrots and sugar snap peas dipped in salsa.   And hot tea - I drink at least 4-5 cups/ day - maybe cause I live with a Brit :) - it makes you full and even with a spalsh of milk it's more or less calorie free.  I don't know if it counts for my water requirements, but I feel good and hydrated!

it's on there, girl!@   I could not live without my kettle corn!   I nursed 1 bag of that and a cut up apple all the way through Harry Potter 5!  =P

So, this is tremendously off-topic. But today, I found out that the scale I've been using is about 8 pounds heavy.

SO. THAT'S GOOD TO KNOW. :D

and as for great snacks - totally guiltless: frozen oranges. i do so love them.

im definitely gonna have to try some of your list. those white cheddar cheez-its will kill me, im sure..

.me.

WOW!  Thank you for all the awesome snack ideas.  There were many on there I hadn't thought of.

I got my work out in today by working in the yard.  The sad thing is all I did was use the gas edger and gas blower.  Hubby did the lawn mowing and trimming.  I do enjoy working in the yard but I'll be real sore tomorrow.  Probably won't be able to move. : (  Hopefully, Friday I will be able to move and do my walking.  I have been using a DVD that has 1 - 3 mile walks.  I really like it.

Well, I'm gonna down a tall glass of water (I'd really like a glass of milk and some cookies) and call it a night.  Here's to another pound lost, I hope! We will see on Friday's weigh in.  See you all tomorrow.

So Im really craving chocolate!!! and i still have a few more calories until I hit my target count for the day. However I want to hit my target or stay a lilttle under. So I'm thinking hot coco made with hot water or maybe my meal replacement..one scoop is only 75 cals and i just add ice and a little...that way its like a shake.

is there anything else I can do to crub this craving or any other low cal. subs?Laughing

ahah!  I was wondering what HP5 was...

Hi ladies!  I am a little late, just started getting into posting around cc (newbie here) and found this thread and sounds just like the small goal I need!  Other than the fact that by the end of May swimsuit season will officially be in full swing, I don't have a special trip or event but losing 10 lbs by then sounds like a great way to get myself going. :) Friday weigh ins sound good to me and I need to learn more about the journals. :)  Is it like blogging?  I guess i can answer my own questions and go find out huh?

A little about me, I am 34, and majorly slacked on my body as I had children with of course adding more weight with each.  I have a 9yr old, an 8 yr old and (almost) 1 year old twins.  Ironically it was with my first pregnancy that I gained the most weight and as much as I would LOVE to say that carrying twins made me fat, by the time I was 6 weeks pp, I weighed only 5 lbs more than when I got pregnant.  Since then I have been able to lose 34 lbs but I still have a way to go to ge to my ultimate goal.  But I have been trying to do it in small goals.  Its nice when I get out of the weight area I was last in (like not seeing the 200's on my scale anymore, YIPPEE!).  So hopefully I can find some new friends and motivate myself and help others get to where we want to get. :)

Wow Olivia,

That is brilliant and so useful. Frozen bananas are a real winner as well - they taste like ice cream and take ages to eat! In fact - any fruit frozen especially blueberries and grapes.

lost one pound:-) 9 more to go to the mini goal

good morning!

wtg ka2007!! I'm still 5.6 pounds away from goal but I'll get there eventually... well, by 5/24 ;)

baby_d the hot cocoa sounds like a good option. Don't know of any low-cal subs.. well, you could have a chocolate pudding cup.. the ff ones are only about 60 cals, I believe.

well.. weigh-in tomorrow.. I don't feel like cooking tonight... I think I'm going to pick up stuff from the grocery store to make salad... yum.. :)

YAY, ka!

Good morning all!

I second the jello sugar free pudding cups in ALL flavors!  they vanilla, caramel and a BUNCH of yummy chocolate flavors (mint, coffee, banana, etc....)  I like fudgesicles for only 35 -- creamy and awesome....   100 calorie packs are good, but DANGEROUS ---  I mostly leave those for work lunches where I only have time for one and not every day....   A whole box could be eater and you'd think, "who me?"   =P  Dip a frozen banana in a pudding cup....  I cut up my apple in tiny slices last night and dipped it in the vanilla.  It was like crunchy cheesecake...

Saw 179.5 for the firsttime this weight loss journey and I think the no booze helped me break through 180....
