I want to lose 10 lbs. My goal is to lose as much as possible by Jan 1, 2010. I think 10 lbs is probably unattainable but I have to set my goal high to accomplish even half of it.

Who's in?

We weigh in every Monday. It's not a competition per se but rather a chance to motivate one another and give each other ideas for success and a chance to tell our story.

So what's everyone's thoughts on how often to weigh?  For a while I've been weighing every day, but I noticed that how much I weighed in the morning (even with the knowledge of daily fluctuations) it would still dictate my mood.  I don't know about only once a week though...seems too little to me.  I think I'm going to weigh in on Mondays (obviously) but also maybe once on Wed/Thurs....just to make sure I stay on track!  How often do you guys weigh and do you think it has an affect on your weight loss?

I weigh in every morning because that is what works for me.  With the way I eat my weight doesn't tend to fluctuate just because of salt intake and such and I am not overly sensitive about a half pound increase or so.  I think twice a week sounds good for you.  Maybe even once every three days if that makes you comfortable.  I do think the most important issue is to realize that plus or minus a pound or two isn't a big deal.  As long as you are experiencing a downward trend then you are doing great!

i would love to join your challenge if it is still open... here is my story -- 5', 30 year old female and i used to bounce between 119-123lb FOR YEARS, even though i was working out like a mad woman -- religiously 6 days a week (weights and cardio). I did the weight watchers thing but could never lose the "last 10 pounds". Then, at the beginning of this year i did herbalife and lost 10pounds getting me down to 109lb. I wanted to lose just a few more and discovered cc where everyone said that i was undereating and needed to up my calories to 1400-1600 or more and quit the herbalife thing. I did that and promptly gained 5 lbs which I CAN'T GET RID OF! I became very upset and gave myself a break towards the end of the summer.

I am now back with a vengeance and determined to get back to my desired 109lb and hopefully by next year spring see the ultimate 105lb...but who knows.

I have seen several short women say that they eat 1100..even less to lose. Any opinions on that? I have had a couple low days like that but i work out so much i worry about going into starvation mode.  My last week weigh in was 114lb (aghhh) so we will see where i am on monday.

My weigh in on Monday wasn't great even though I felt like I was doing well all week.  I have no doubt the beef stew I made on Sunday didn't help either ... I was 111.6 which is pretty much 112 where I started (and that I felt like was a bad weigh-in for me, heavier than I normally am).

I also do well all day then I tend to eat everything in sight around 9pm. High calorie foods too like nuts, ice cream, chips, Twix (my obsession as of late). My issue is they are here so I eat them, it must change. HAd a good weigh in this morn though at 110.2 so no major complaints yet.

But the amazing thing is I am working out again. Not much, 2-3 classes a week but it's definitely a help mentally to keeping strong.

Right Ladies... 

I have just turned 32.. I weigh in at 162 pounds. I am 5ft 8" tall. I am getting married next year - so I have more motivation to get myself on track. I need to lose 15 - 20 pounds... I have never weighed under 150 in my adult life. 

I am going on holiday - in Dec ( xmas.) There will be swimming involved- I want to feel good in my swimsuit and not be running for the sarong as soon as I step out of the water. 

I am keen for the challenge! 10 pounds in 6 weeks is totally doable! 

Let's give it a go!

I decided to check-in today because we are drawing near the weekend and that is always the toughest for me.  I've been pretty good all week - esp since it is TTOM and i could seriously eat everything in sight. I lost a little control today and just HAD to have a hot pocket and sun-chips (not too bad) but I never/rarely allow myself chips and really try to limit processed food..especially during the week..BUT..i haven't gone over my calorie count so, lets see if i can get through the night .i only have 200cals for dinner so..we'll see.

For whatever reason last night was particularly hard for me and I am slightly concerned about the weigh in on Monday.  I was great all day but as soon as afternoon hit I had the munchies and ate a lot of junk I didn't need.  I only hope this morning was a little water weight!

Hi everyone and welcome to clairehindmarsh! I updated the weigh-ins, hope everyone is happy (I had updated a few days ago, but I guess it didn't stick for some reason).

Congrats on the great progress so far everyone and KEEP IT UP!

I also find Monday weigh-in days very tough as it's right after the weekend where most of my damage is done. If you want we can move it to Wednesday or something. But then again having it on Monday should motivate folks to keep on track on those tough days at home.

thanks for updating our info nycgirl! i am gonna try to weigh myself more than once a week so whichever day we decide as "official" is fine by me...although you're right about keeping us more on track if we stick to the brutal monday morning weigh in!! ha! ha!

 

 

I had a good weigh-in this morning so I am hopefuly for Monday. I am trying to use the good weigh-in at 109.6 lbs this morning as impetus for a good weekend. The only thing is I have no food in the house right now which makes it tough to make good choices, must go shopping!!

My weigh in this morning was 142.5 so basically the same as last week.  On Saturday I was at 141.2 but then we had a poker game and I ended up drinking quite a bit of wine Saturday night.  I think I'm going to chalk it up to my body holding on to a little extra water to deal with the alcohol consumption.

Weigh in day!

So it's TTOM (just started yesterday...right before weigh in day of course!), so this weight is probably higher than it actually is.  Still happy with it though!

LW: 136.6

TW: 135.4

I did see 134.2 at one point this week!  That was pretty exciting.  But of course TTOM had to come in and ruin things..as usual :).  Have a great week everyone!

My weighin was 111 this morning. I will take it! Wish it was more but since I am barely dieting it's ok with me. I did work out twice over the weekend, just need to stop munching! And today I had a disastrous fast food dinner cause I am traveling and was sooo hungry. Will try to be better the remainder of my trip.

But your goal is too steep at this point to fall within the goal and mission of Calorie Count of healthy weight management. Can you modify it to a healthier goal?

We only support a 1-2% loss of BW per week, this means a maximum of 12 lbs - and that is on someone who is probably heavier than you. You have my stats pretty much exactly, so are definitely not overweight - though I obviously understand the desire to trim down, tone up.

95 lbs is definitely too low as it's nto within the healthy BMI range. Calorie Count would support a low weight for you at about 105 lbs - which is my goal. Can we do it together??

hey lovely ladies! sorry i didn't weigh in yesterday -- here it is today 113.6lb...which means only .4lb loss!! agh!! this is soooooo hard. okay. pick myself up..and keep going. I just bought Jillian Michael's "Making the Cut" Has anyone read it?? Very interesting read about what kind of "oxidizers" we are (fast/slow/balanced). I am going to incorporate those ideas but i don't think i have the time to eat her very precise menu plan..if anyone has done it I'd love to hear your feedback..

mutoko, congrats on the loss, even if it seems slight the trend is DOWNWARDS which is where we want to be. Feel good about it, afterall, it has only been ONE week!!

I had a good night. But the fish tacos and 2 cosmos were surely not necessary for my diet plan. Even though I definitely indulged today (I also had two SKVLs at Starbucks) I did resist the desire to eat a container of Peanut M&Ms and a container of cashews in my hotel room. So I consider this a successful day.

I don't know if I could have resisted the peanut m&m's.  Good for you!
