Lose 15-20 lbs by Thanksgiving!!

I wanted to start a group for people trying to lose the extra baggage by Thanksgiving. I have been trying to diet for a year now, and was once down to 125 (140 now) and have a goal weight of 120-122. I am 5-4 and I am starting my diet today (1300 calories, and running around 1 mile-1.5 a day). Anyone else want to share their diet tips/frustrations and hopefully shed 20 lbs by thanksgiving (not to gain it back over the holiday of course!)

I'll join in!  I would really like to be able to do this!  When I first saw your post I thought that 15-20 lbs by Thanksgiving would be impossible, but in reality, Thanksgiving is 10 weeks from yesterday.  That's a 2 lbs per week weightloss which is both possible and healthy.  So I'm in!  Here are my stats:

25 yeas old

180 (more or less, I will get a more exact number)

5'2

I'm getting married next fall, so I'm trying to get my body in wedding shape.  I haven't bought my dress yet and probably won't be buying it until Feburary or so, so I'm hoping to lose as much weight as possible before then.

I will also join you guys!

I am currently 158 (depending on the day)

My goal weight is 130-135

And im 5'6

Im leaning more towards losing 20lbs, but ever 15 would be great!!
I really want to look good for my work Christmas party (and my boyfriends!)

Should we do weekly updates and weigh ins?

I would love to join as well.  I have been trying to do it on my own, but have hit a roadblock the past couple of months.

 

I am 5'4" and weigh 150.  My best weight is around 130 and would be grateful to get there (or close to it) by Thanksgiving.

Yeah we can do weekly weigh-ins, like every sunday or something, any day is fine. Hopefully Thanksgiving will come fast, lol.

What have you guys been doing so far, or plan to do, in terms of eating and exercising? My biggest difficulty is keeping with it going past a week, but this should definitely keep motivation going.

I am in!  My goal is 10 - 12 lbs by then... but I'd love to join you all!  I did this last year (before I got married) and found that having accountability to a group REALLY helps - so thanks scoobster for putting this together! Laughing

I am 5'4.5", 36 yo, currently 126.5 (yikes - I was 116 this time last year!)

I do strength training 3 days a week with interval cardio between sets and am trying to get back into running and biking at least 2 - 3 other days per week (I have been lazy lately), and am trying to keep an average of about 1400 cals per day.   So far so good with the cals... on track all week this week - now it's the weekend - eek!.

I'd love to join if you guys are still accepting! My goal is to lose 16 pounds by Thanksgiving and then hopefully 5 more pounds after that. I started a diet today of 1300 cal. I'm currently 136 and 5'3. I'd like to get down to 120 as a starter goal. I'd love to be 115 by January as I am barely 5'3.

I have just started hitting the gym and I'm recovering from major soreness today so I think I will give it a rest today. Maybe do some light cardio. 

I can't wait to hear everyones progress and report my own, hopefully!

So far today I have had soup (280) for breakfast and a pudding (120) as a snack. Lunch and dinner is up in the air for now

I'll join.  I started my diet/exercise a week and a half ago.  I walk everyday during lunch for a half hour - this is helping tremendously!  Plus I walk more in the evening and lift weights.  I need all the exercise I can get I weigh 140 but I'm only 4-11.  I have shed 4 pounds so far, but today having breakfast with my husband was a big diet sabatoge, he made bacon, biscuits, gravy, eggs with tons of cheese, and although I appreciate his cooking, I can't do it.  I eat applesauce and a hardboiled egg for breakfast during the week at work but on the weekends it's so hard to eat that with his "man" breakfast.  I only ate a little of everything and my calorie count is up to 490 already.  The website says I'm only supposed to eat 950 calories......there went my lunch!!  Good luck to you!

Woah that sounds awesome.  I'm in.  Should we maybe add eachother?  Does anyone else write journals?  That sometimes helps for motivation.  Right now I am 147 and hoping to get to 125.  I'm 5'4, but we'll see how much I can lose haha. 

For breakfast this morning, I had two kiwis, 1 scrambled egg, and a hot dog, no bun. Calorie count gave the hot dog an F so I'll try to stay away from those from now on. So far for breakfast, I've had 299 calories. I have about 1000 calories left for the day, but it's 12:30  and I'm getting hungry. I will try to drink as much water to keep full though, but I might have to have a snack. I like a big dinner so I try to keep most of the calories for my dinner.

For exercise today, I hope to do weight training today. I've noticed a lot of definition in my legs, so I'm excited for the weigh in tomorrow, but I'm not expecting to see a lot of difference as I have only been on the diet for two days.

Hey there, I would like to join too. I share pretty much the same stats and goals, i.e. 5-4, 140 lbs and want to reach 120-122! I run 3.1 miles every other day and I am hoping to include some strength training next week.

Good luck to you all...being Canadian, our Thanks Giving is a few weeks away. Just thought I'd share some of my short term sucess. In the last two weeks I have shed 11lbs! Sounds like a lot but I am 5'7 and weigh 210. I have a long way to go! I have been doing Wii Fit almost every day. It is totally amazing because it has Yoga, Strength, Aerobics and balance. It is so much fun and covers everything from step, jogging, boxing, hula hooping to focusing on your centre core. Might sound corny but I can now touch my toes and sit cross legged comfortably! Anyone with access should give it a go! We fight for it here!

I'm glad so many people have joined on, I'm very hopeful that this group will keep me accountable.  My biggest problem, also, is keeping committed for longer then just a few weeks. 

So far today - with dinner still coming - I have had cereal with milk for breakfast (about 220 cals), for lunch some tuna fish with a little low fat miracle whip (about 150) and a snack that consisted of shrimp and a glass of wine (about 250 calories).  So far I seem to be on track for today with 620 and about 580 left for dinner.  I try to stay under 1200 calories and most days I actually stay under 1000.  So off to the grocery store to pick up some dinner, hopefully I can stay on target!

Sorry about the double post -- Just wanted to see if we wanted to start our weigh-ins tomorrow.  I need to find a starting weight generally so I'm going to weigh in tomorrow anyway.  Just a thought.  Let me know!

Can I join? I want to lose 20lbs by Thanksgiving. I'd prefer to not list my starting weight here however. haha

2lbs per week is healthy.

Oh ****.  Forgot you guys have a different thanksgiving in the US.  Ours in the beginning of October.
