Lose a little exercise alot!
The holiday's were a little tougher than expected and I gained more than I wanted to allow myself.
I would like to know if there is anyone else intersted in doing a lose a little exercise alot challenge. I fell off the wagon and wasn't exercising at all, but I think I am ready now. (the numbers just keep going up on the scale it scares me)
My stats are
30 years old
5'5''
and 132
I am fully aware that this is a healthy weight, I know that even without calorie counting, just exercising I will get down to my " magic number" 125 lbs.
I would just like some buddies on my exercise journey, a little accountability, if you may.
Thanks Nicole
anybody? I just started. .. I just burnt 300 cal on eliptical.. now going to do jilliian michaels 30 day shred.
Since I am starting over I will be starting with level one but will still use my heavier weights (6lbs instead of 3)
I'd like buddies too! I was going to try out the Jillian 30 day shred, how is it? I have her cardio kickboxing which i like, just wish it was longer. i also use the elliptical alot and strength train, as well as daily stretching. My favorite workout that I absolutely LOVE is my kickboxing martial arts classes (muay thai), it is the best workout ever! My endurance is really good so sometimes I'm skeptical about these workout tapes. I too, like you, am at a healthy weight and just want to lose like 6 pounds. I workout every day but yesterday i wasn't feeling up to it so i skipped a day. I NEVER skip a day so I feel a little guilty but what can you do. I also walk everyday at lunch time but its been raining the past two days so I feel especially guilty! I'll definatley be hitting the elliptical today after work, then tonight off to kickboxing!
Sure, I'll be your buddy too. I only have about 4 or 5 lbs. to go to meet my goal of 135 lbs. I pretty much try to exercise 6 days a week - mostly because I love to eat and find that I cannot survive on 1350 calories a day (or less). Usually I eat about 1800-2000 calories on a good day but I burn about 2400 or so. It's been working for me so far and I don't feel deprived at the end of the day.

First, I'm jealous! You are where I was 8 (gulp!) years ago, after the birth of our 3rd baby. My highs were 135-137, my ideal was 125-128. Now? Not to scare you, I promise, but at just turned 38, and having had our 4th baby 20 months ago, I am at 144, and HOPING to reach 135. If I can without tremendous struggle, then I may see about going lower. I always said when I was your age, I would never let it creep up on me just because I was GETTING OLDER!!! Ha. Well, it really wasn't that, it was the pregnancy, a very sick one that allowed only poor nutrition and bedrest. So. Here I am. I'd love to buddy with someone in the 10 lbs and under range, because although we're very blessed to have "so little" to lose, it can be the toughest part of losing. Those last 5-10 can be killers! And I LOVE my evening wine, which is totally non-productive!
I started the Shred. Very hard. Burns 2-300 cals in that grueling 20 min. session. Embarrassingly, level 1 kicks my @ss! Today decide to not do it alone, but do it 3X week, and start the Couch to 5K the other 3 days. Today is only my 3rd day trying to really get the last of this weight off (had cosmetic surgery in Sept., correcting nastiness from 4 c-sections, but that's another story), and I really want to stay motivated. Sharing the road would be nice.
Ooo! I've been looking for a group that is focusing on exercising, because that's exactly what I want to do! The most I would be willing to lose is a few pounds, but I really just want to get myself in shape!
Currently I'm doing the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, and occasionally incorporating a separate 15 minute ab workout. I'm still only on level 1 of the 30 Day Shred.
I'm 21
5'4"
110-112

I've been using 2 pound weights ![]()
I've been wondering what pound weights I should be using...
Should I be using at least 5 pounds?
Cool!
I am an emotional eater and got some sucky news, and I know thats why my numbers were creeping up.
But I am determined again. I am glad you guys will join me on this little journey.
As for the 30 day shred I think 3 lb weights are recommended, but I feel like I am not using any if I use my 3lb weights.( and I love the muscles in my arms, it is so nice not to have fat hanging, just muscles bulging)
I did really well yesterday, should we set up some kind of post for our daily exercise or something, I have never done this kind of thing before so if there are any moderators that want to clue me in that would be great.
Thanks and Good Luck to all
Nicole
I'm heading off to the gym today but my workout will be a bit shorter than usual as there's a delayed opening for the schools so I won't get to the gym until after 10am. Planning on hopping on the elliptical today because I seem to burn more calories in a shorter time period with that. Tomorrow I'll get back on the treadmill for a good run.
Maureen
i'm attempting this goal too! :)
i have 17 days left before my wedding, so i really have to bounce back from the holidays.. somehow, i gained 5 lbs over the christmas break.....
not too happy with that! and i plan on losing it.. (pre-christmas, 125. post--130...)
happily: my body fat % has gone down by a couple percent in the past 5 days! but i'm still not happy with the numbers....
but i did start working out daily from sunday (was doing 1-2 days per week of serious workouts) but i've now gone: sunday, monday, tuesday, wednesday.. and i plan on going every day for the next 16 days..
also am doing turbo jam. i must say it's great! i'm suprised... the 20 minute routine really gives a good little workout, and the standing abs are great!
(what's this shed video people are talking about? 30 day shed? )
Hi Freshfyre,
The video is Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.. from the biggest loser! I love this video and am going to get a couple more of her videos I really like her style.
Hi, Maureen too!
My kids had a school delay too (southeast indiana) , they had my whole day messed up,lol because I slept later than usual and didn't work out until they were gone .
I use the elliptical because I don't have access to a gym. I do run/walk outside if there isn't snow. So me and my 3 year old work out in my living room.. you oughta see it she is a trip.
Today i work 12 hrs so I will only get to do a 2 mile in home walk.
Alright, speaking as a 38 yr. old mom to FOUR, who vaguely remembers being your age, and only about 5 pounds heavier then (117), I might be too envious to communicate any further with you on this forum.
I read you're not interested in losing more weight, but in the exercise? That sounds like a really healthy outlook. Although I'm working down a few pounds, really, I want to get in good shape, heart and lungs and muscle tone. I figure the two can come together. And bonus news for me on a Friday morning? I am down ONE POUND since only Monday! Great encouragement not to blow it over the weekend. Hope your weekend is great...and as far as my little bio pic goes? I don't always wear goofy cowboy hats...my 13 yr. old took that pic a couple of years ago, and insisted I use it. He likes it!
Still managing to do ok. I probably over ate, my calories a little yesterday , but it was crazy..
My sisters house got broke into, the neighbor witnessed it, and called my sister, who called me, (I am an emergency dispatcher at the local Sheriff's office) I dispatched 5 officers ( which is hilarious because we usually only have one per shift.) and they caught the suspects a couple miles from her house and arrested them. They are suspects in about 20 burglaries in our area and more in surrounding counties.. it was GREAT!!!! this is why I love my job, SO it was non stop adrenaline rush from like 1130 to 6 pm.
But back to the calories, when my poor body fell off of the adrenaline rush, I was wiped, so I only exercise 15 min on elliptical, and did some sit ups, push ups and squats, and ate PIZZA!!! but i really didn't have a whole lot, but I was too tired to make anything for just me and my husband worked so hard on those frozen pizzas. (lol)
And i am back at work today, energized and ready to go but for some reason it is really hot in here today so I only did 1 mile of my 2 mile in home walk. ( don't want to work up too much of a sweat and stink the rest of the day ha ha)
I am going to try and stay within my calories today!
Hey dispatchin - great job catching those crooks!! You should feel very proud!
I seem to have caught my daughter's GI bug so that has hindered me quite a bit. I forced myself to workout at the gym today because I missed yesterday due to my daughter's illness. I did 10 min's on the elliptical and 30 min's on the treadmill. Though, the treadmill workout was on the lame side. I only did 2.86 miles in 30 mins. Had to take several walking breaks but I guess it's better than no exercise at all.
I just ordered Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. I should get it sometime next week. Hopefully that will help get me moving on days when it's impossible to get to the gym, which seems to be happening a lot lately.
I love jillian michaels 30 day shred.
Today the kids had a 2 hr delay from school again so I am all off track! I will have to work out this evening, before dinner.
I did accomplish making a dr appt.. that i have been putting off, afraid of what they will say!
And I am back to eating good all day then when it gets later in the evening I sabotage myself, but I think that is connected to the fear and depression of the dr appt.
I hope everyone is doing good, I am eating ok so far today!
Have a good week!
Did I miss something? "Afraid" of what the docs will say? Are you ill? And here's to your getting that work out in, I'm hoping to do mine within the hour...running today though, not the shred.
Had lost a pound as of Day 5 last week, but back up one today. I am thinking/hoping it is water retention, expecting period any day. Maybe in a week or so, I'll have something good showing on the scales...
Let us know how you are,
allison
I would love to join you guys on this exercise journey. I do want to lose weight. I am 36yrs 5'2 and 133.6. I just started last week and weight myself today and lost a whole 1.4 pounds. Last week I was able to stay right at my 1200 calories although last night I was over 1300 but I did not go to the gym at all. This week I am starting the exercising part.
Today at the gym I did the treadmill for 45 min and it said that I burned 228 calories. That is with a walk/run. I was planning this evening to do some weight training at home.
Now, do you guys get your calories burned for the day from the burn meter?
Welcome to the group tlhaden. I do get my calories burned from the burn meter. I listed my activity level as "light activity" and then I add in my daily exercise workouts. With exercise, I believe I burn about 2300 cal's/day, give or take. I try to keep my daily intake around 1800 but that fluctuates quite a bit. I'm usually pretty good during the week with food intake but we always go out for dinner on the weekend and that sort of throws things off. I also try to be very consistent with exercise and try to workout 6 days/week. So far, I've lost about 78-79 lbs and only have about 3-4 more lbs. to go to reach my goal. Sooo close! Good luck on your journey and keep us posted!
Now that Burn Meter thing TOTALLY annoys me. The little top number indicates (or so I've been told) the total number of cals you must have to exist, and move about according to the activity level you selected. Subtract 500 cals per day from that? THAT is your top cal goal to lose 1 pound per week. The big number on the Burn Meter presumably tells you from midnight to midnight how many cals you're burning, according again to the little survey you filled out about age, weight, activity level, etc. If you add an exercise, the cals burned will be reflected there.
You should put your top cal goal in the other meter, the one about food intake, and that will be reflected in the top little number, the bottom big number will be a running total of what you've consumed. Clear as mud? Why there is not some little meter that just takes your top cal goal, and tells you when you've hit it, I've no idea. But good for you, already losing more than a pound! Welcome to the group, how much are you looking to lose?
The burn meter thing annoys me to, but , we can't complain this site is free, and I love it, I love coming here for the motivation, and ideas, and friends.(like you guys)
I did get off my rump and workout, I did level 2 jillian michaels 30day shred, and 2 min of pilates. I plan on jumping on the elliptical (while i cook) I go back and forth the whole time, I am cooking or do lunges, or squats.
I would love to take a run, however, there is snow on the road here, and I really don't trust people that drive on my road, on dry pavement, let alone wet/snowy.
I guess I should update my weight.
128.5 today.
And thanks Allison for the good wishes, and peace..I'm gonna try.
Rasmom, that is awesome to be so close to your goal! Way to go! That in it's self is inspiration!
