100+ Pounds to Lose---we can do it!! Monday weigh ins. (start 1/7/08)
Hey Everyone,
Well, here is it, a new challenge for those looking to lose 100+ pounds. I would like for everyone who is a first time poster to give a little introduction of themselves (include height, weight, age and anything else you would like)!
I'm hoping that this challenge can not only look at how we're doing in terms of numbers, but serve as a way to motivate eachother. If you had an extremely challenging week, let us know. If you found an awesome exercise or healthy snack food, let us know. If you have anything, good or bad, that helped (or hurt) your weight loss (and overall health for the week), let us know!!
I'm figuring the weekly template can be something like:
Starting weight/date: XXXXX lbs XXXXXX (for me, 298 lbs 12/18/07)
Weight last weight in: XXXXXX lbs
Weight this week: XXXXXX lbs
and then list challenges, good, bad, etc. afterwards.
I would love to say I would do points and keep a tally, but honestly, I know it will be tough to keep up with everyone's TERRIFIC progress!! Hopefully we can all take a look at this and celebrate everyone's successes together.
Our first weigh in will be January 7, 2008. Feel free to join whenever you like and give your introduction :-)
Let's do this together!!!
:-)

Okay so I'm a bit miffed but happy. The scale has been yo-yo-ing all over the place the last 3 weeks, but even though I admit I've been cheating more frequently than I should, I've been sticking to my workouts so at least I am helping myself in that respect. Yesterday I went to the mall and bought a dress in a size 18 - so excited! I'm not in size 18 pants yet, but it's definitely a start and I am so excited to wear the dress when I go on vacation in 2 weeks.
One thing I have noticed is that my energy levels have skyrocketed! I only got 6.5 hours of sleep last night... historically that would leave me completely debilitated, but I am awake and chipper, if just a tad bit sleepy-eyed.
And the most important thing of all - I am feeling *SO* much better about myself! I bought a sexy piece of lingerie for the first time ever, and wore it confidently to the "ooohs" and "aahs" of my boyfriend. (lol sorry for the TMI!). I've worn skirts twice - something I hadn't done in 3 years. And overall I just find more and more that I look in the mirror and am not depressed by what I see!
hi everyone i'm new here and hope to join you often here are my stats

Weight this week:275 lbs
well i'm a stay at home mom and i feel like i don't have time to workout but,i guess sometimes you have to make time. water has been a challenge and so has eating right
Welcome ezziriah!
Just a tidbit - 8+ glasses of water a day isn't necessarily for everyone! I read an article about this and asked my doctor, and she pretty much said as long as you are peeing 3-4 times a day, and your urine is a paler yellow instead of a dark, bright yellow color each time, then you're probably fine and your body isn't dehydrated. (note - it will almost always be darker when you pee first thing in the morning) Drinking 8 glasses a day for some people could flood their body and cause a rise in water weight, because our bodies typically get about 20% of our daily water from food.

I am so psyched about this weeks for 2 reason. The first being that I past the loss of 30 pounds mark so I was really excited about that, and second because for the first time since I started I didnt gain weight over the weekened. I am always a little bad on weekends due to hanging out with friends and just eating whatever and gaining a bit of what I lost the previous week because of it but Friday I was 250.0 and this morning I was 249.0 so woooooooo!

OK so i didn't do very well this week. I have been really busy, I started back to school this week. I am happy about finally getting started in college (took two years off after high school) and I am doing it online so i can stay home with my one year old son. I have been just grabbing whatever is near by and is fastest to fix. With going to school and trying to get everything done, and with a one year old running around tearing the house up its hard to find time to cook, and eat healthy, I am still counting calories (most days) but I need some fast healthy affordable meals. Anyone have any recipes or ideas about things to eat with low calories. I need something cheap, because i am not working and my husband works all the time so I can finish with school. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone, and keep up the good work.

Congrats jeremey on making the 30 pound weight mark. I can taste my forty. I have been up and down all week like a yo-yo. I haven't felt the greatest and haven't exercised the best but I am back and things are looking up.

Blahhhhhhh
I hope its not too late to join here. My name is Becky. I am a stay at home mom of 3 and married to a wonderful man who supports me no matter what. I have been over weight since the birth of my first child almost 18 years ago. My weight has slowly crept up over the years. Other than my weight, I am a healthy person. In the past I was never too concerned about my weight or what anyone thought or said. I just don't spend my time and energy trying to please everyone else. I feel that I have too many other things to worry about. Okay now after sounding somewhat cold (and not meaning to ). I had a birthday in Jan. turning 37 and that is when I really started thinking about my future health. Then right after that I read about a man who is 41 and was just recovering from a 2nd heart attack and has 7 stents among many other health problems including obesity. That is when it hit me that I had to make a huge lifestyle change. I'm not huge on sweets. I just don't eat healthy foods. Most of my blood family is overweight and we are always making up reasons to have huge family summer cookouts and winter get togethers for one reason or another. So I started on my new journey 2/4/08. Since then we have had 3 or 4 family gatherings and I stayed within calorie intake. I really don't like to exercise alot. That is my biggest problem. I do but not as often as I should. I'm hoping by being on this thread I will find some new friends who can push me to get up and do something. I am registered on another site without much success so I will try here and see what happens. My stats are:
Start weight and date: 275 on 2/04/08
Current weight: 263 on 3/14/08
A loss of 12 pounds and 22 3/4 inches ( I usually weigh and measure every Friday but I will change that to Monday )
Goal weight: I would be happy at 175 but would love to be 150
Congrats to everyone current success and good luck on your future ones.
Welcome mtc5995 and good luck.
I have always been embarrassed about my weight but never seem to be able to stick to something. I have been doing this since January 12th and this is the longest I have stuck to something in a long time. It feels good overall to be doing it and knowing that I am becoming a healthier person for it.
Somedays I feel like what am I doing this for I always end up quitting and gainging more than I started with but I am going to keep going with this life style this time and I am going to be able to do it for the rest of my life.
I have always felt that what I do and say is stupid and that no one really likes me but the truth is I don't really like the person I have become and I don't let people get close to me.
Good luck and remember it is worth it. I am slowly gaining more confidence and one day I will completely like myself.

Sorry I'm late - I went to Dallas to see my family yesterday morning and got back today. I gave myself a free day and we "celebrated" with food, laughter and shopping all day long. Oh boy, am I glad those days don't happen on a regular basis. Living 1000 miles away from all my favorite old restaurants is really not a bad thing - LOL! Hope everyone has a great week! I will be working extra hard all week to balance out the all the high-cal, high-sodium foods on the plane and in Big D yesterday...
Great work, everybody - no matter what the crazy scales show, if we keep doing what we're doing, we'll all make it to our goals and live a healthier life - yea, us!
Well I've been falling my lifestyle change for 2 months today and I've had a rough month this month. I had a bad sinus infection for 2 weeks and I found out I am lactose intolerant. Due to these things I have been rethinking my diet trying to fix it where there is no dairy. This had proved hard because I love cheese. Anyway here are my states.
Starting Weight (01/20/08): 208
Last Weigh in: 196 (?)
Current Weight (03/20/08): 199.6
I'm not sure if it is true weight or bloat because it's been fluctuating between 198 and 204 all month.
I have however lost inches :).
Next month better.
ohbehave007, My son is also lactose intolerant. Most Grocery stores carry a loctose free cheese. Your local Wal-Mart pharmacy or any other major pharmacy should carry an over the counter medication ( I think it is a chewable ) for lactose intolerance. I apologize but I forgot the name of it. My son is only 2 and I really don't want him taking medication for this if he doesn't have to. Anyway the medication box claims that after taking this medicaine you can have all of the lactose you want without any side effects. I have found a wide variety of foods that have very little or no lactose at all. They are out there. It is just where people really have to look for them. They are a little pricer and you may have to take some time to get used to the tastes especially if you have concumed lactose freely in the past. My son drinks the milk fime but my older children have a problem with it. I guess it just takes time.
Good Luck
Becky
Well the nearest walmart is 200 miles away (I live in Holland) :D. Alot of people in my family are lactose intolerant. My mom has given me alot of types (she too has it, but hers was brought on my irritable bowel syndrome). I really like soya products and have been using them, they help. I've been looking for lactose free cheeses but it is hard to find, holland is very into cheeses.
Thanks for the information though, greatly appreciated. I will check about those pills here.

Well for the past two weeks I have not done very well. Yesterday of course was easter, and my family always has a big dinner on easter, and I think I controlled myself very well. At least I am still losing weight, it is just coming off VERY slowly, I was hoping it would come off a little faster, but I guess I can't complain, I mean it is still coming off. I think I am going to lower my calorie count some more and see if that helps. Congrats to everyone on their weight loss, and remember hang in there, it will all be worth it in the end. GOOD LUCK!
Great work, everybody - no matter what the crazy scales show, if we keep doing what we're doing, we'll all make it to our goals and live a healthier life - yea, us! (Quoting self from last week)

Oh, look everyone, I can take my own advice from last week! (LOL) I was a little bummed, but have wiped the proverbial slate clean and am moving forward with new resolve. Meeting my halfway (60 lbs lost) goal last week made me extremely comfortable and I went to Dallas to see my family and ate everything I laid eyes on. Let me just say that my counselor and I did have a discussion about this - she said that if I go back to the way I used to eat, I will go back to living the life I used to live - a life that I did not enjoy. This was in response to my telling her that when I reach a mini-goal, I want to celebrate more than normal and kind of get this, "Yea, I made it" mentality. SOOOO... back to the portions, back to the realistic amounts of exercise, and as soon as TTOM goes away, back to a less bloaty Tina. It's all good!!!! ![]()
