100+ Pounds to Lose---we can do it!! Monday weigh ins. (start 1/7/08)

Quote  |  Reply

Hey Everyone,

Well, here is it, a new challenge for those looking to lose 100+ pounds.  I would like for everyone who is a first time poster to give a little introduction of themselves (include height, weight, age and anything else you would like)!

I'm hoping that this challenge can not only look at how we're doing in terms of numbers, but serve as a way to motivate eachother.  If you had an extremely challenging week, let us know.  If you found an awesome exercise or healthy snack food, let us know.  If you have anything, good or bad, that helped (or hurt) your weight loss (and overall health for the week), let us know!!

I'm figuring the weekly template can be something like:

Starting weight/date: XXXXX lbs XXXXXX (for me, 298 lbs 12/18/07)

Weight last weight in: XXXXXX lbs

Weight this week: XXXXXX lbs

and then list challenges, good, bad, etc. afterwards.

I would love to say I would do points and keep a tally, but honestly, I know it will be tough to keep up with everyone's TERRIFIC progress!! Hopefully we can all take a look at this and celebrate everyone's successes together.

Our first weigh in will be January 7, 2008.  Feel free to join whenever you like and give your introduction :-)

Let's do this together!!!

:-)

I have a question for all of you experienced CC'ers. After excercising, do you go by the calories burned shown on the treadmill or other piece of equipment, or do you go by calories burned as listed on here? They seem, in my case at least, to vary by about 15-20 calories. So I was wondering what all of you used.

 Ahhh, and good luck tomorrow!!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to CC and would like to join this group. I'm 33 and in a bit of a different situation from some others in that I live in Kathmandu, Nepal. I am originally from DC but had a job transfer here about a year and a half ago. I'm here until at least August 08, possibly August 09. I had lost 50 lbs on Weight Watchers and maintained for a year, but then when my husband and I moved here I gained about 15 and really have struggled to take it off.

My job is very sedentary and there aren't many opportunities for exercise (especially since I swam for my exercise in DC and I can only think of one pool in this country). As well, the food here is often full fat and there aren't many snack options that aren't deep-fat fried. So..here I am, trying to get motivated to start losing again.

Starting Weight: 246

Current Weight: 215.6 (Monday) (down 1.2 from last week)

Goal Weight: 145

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better as we all go through this together!

I am very discouraged. I know I should be happy that the scale is going down, but I worked really hard last week. I had less than my calories each day, drank my water....I am going to cut calories to 1500, weigh only once a week, and try to work out 3 times this week. I just thought I would see at least 2 lbs! I think my metabolism must be very slow.

jessie4200 - I'd recommend doing some hearty stew dishes...  do you have a crockpot?  Mix up some tasty dishes with meat and veggies and low-cal/sodium free broths and let them simmer all day.  Serve over noodles for your man and just eat the stew alone for yourself!  :-)   just a quick trick my mom and I tried... or in the summer, make burgers and just eat yours without the bun.  Also, South Beach makes a great cookbook with all kinds of tasty low-carb, low-sugar meals.

So I didn't get a chance to get my scale yet :-/   so I might have to wait till tomorrow to weigh in.  But I took a long walk with my boyfriend yesterday (for mid-January it was GORGEOUSLY warm out), and have a packed meal plan for the day today haha...

2 Slimfasts  (breakfast and lunch), 1 cup of grapes, some sliced celery and baby carrots, peanuts and raisins, and a 100 calorie pack to prevent hitting up the vending machine this afternoon, lol!

Hi, This looks like about the level of commitment for me.  I would like to help encourage you all in wow 100 lbs but really if you lose 2 lbs a week that is less than a year. (not much).

I am 5' 2" inch don't know what that is in meters.  I am female, 45 years old and weight 292 as of this morning on the dot.  I have over 100 lbs, but 100 lbs is my goal for now.  I work with computers and so I sit a lot at work.  I love being active live in Michigan so getting out in the winter is harder.  I do go swimming at a Gym three times a week and am starting up weights this week too.

I have resolved this year to make this a life style change and not a diet.  Easier said then done but it just has to be a one day at a time thing right.  I know what to do it is just a matter of choosing to do it and I am the only one that can make that choice for me.  Sorry I will get off my soap box just am talking to myself this morning.

Well lucky for me I did weigh my self this morning so here goes the

Starting weight/date: 292 lbs 01/07/08 want to start from today

Weight last weight in: 292 lbs

Weight lost this week: 0 lbs

 Good luck and good decisions!!!

Good afternoon everyone

Starting weight/date: 267.5 lbs 12/27/07 (for me, 298 lbs 12/18/07)

Weight last weight in: 259 lbs

Weight this week: 259 lbs

Goal Weight : 120-160

The hardest thing for me is finding the time to eat right with a 5 month old i'm always on the go trying to keep her happy.  Also i'm a food junkie i always feel the need to snack even if i find i'm not really hungry.  I have been watching that and instead of eatting something i just grab some juice or some water and that usually does the trick

I weighed in at 232 this morning - same as last week. However, yesterday the scale taunted me with an unprecedented 229.5, which was awesome! So, maybe it's water retention (I ate a big Mother-in-Law meal, which probably had tons of sodium) or maybe that low number was just a lie. *sigh*

Strangely, something about my MIL's corn chowder made my stomach feel sickly full. It tasted fantastic last night, but I felt horribly full afterwards, and assumed it was because I ate way too much. But, I just ate some leftover soup now for lunch, and I have the same feeling in my poor belly! :-(

My name is Jennifer Hutchens I am 28 yrs old and a mother of a wonderful 4 yr old boy. I have for quite some time now had a problem with wt. I have tried all kinds of pills and diets. I seem to get bored with it because I love my food. I do not want to have to quite eating what I like to lose weight. I maybe just need to limit myself. I don not know maybe someone can help me. I am desperate to lose weight this time. I need to lose weight for my health and family. I have a horse and need to lose about 100 lbs to be able to ride like I would like to ride.

If there are any suggestions to me PLEASE HELP!!

Good luck everyone

I lost 6 pounds since starting back seriously on the 1st!  I know most is water, since I'm eating 1500-1600 cals a day and only exercising about an hour 3 days a week, but it is still exciting to see the pounds I gained coming back off.  :)

I had a little set back to exercising today while hiking, though, (see my journal for the whole story) and might not be able to do much for a few days.

I hope everyone else is making progress and having a great evening!

Starting weight 280 (1-7-08)

Hello My name is Barbara. I am a 36 year old STAY  at home wife and  mom  of 5 kids. Twin daughters who are 18, twin Son/daughter who are 14, and a 6 year old son.  I have been overweight for most of my adult life not this severe i might add. I recently got married like 4 months ago.  I have been on many many DIETS I have tried all the gimmicks out there, Inches a weigh, curves, aqua size. all of which failed cause i can't find the time to actually get there. So after many failed atempts here is my new outlook on the whole loosing weight. I have decided to not go on a diet but yet change how i eat as a life long commitment I will not give up  everything I will just choose healthier and smaller portions.  Instead of trying to find teh time to get out to a gym I have turned my spare room into a gym. now there is no excuses. I told myself on Jan,01 that I would start on monday the 7 and I am proud to say i did use my workout room today for 1 hour. so no more diets just a life long commitment to beiong healthy...any advice  and support i can get I will be needing and it goes both ways i am here if anyone needs me...Good luck and lets do this......

Should we edit our original post or start a new one each week?

I was not able to log in yesterday, but I did weigh myself.

Starting Weight on 1/7/2008: 226

Last weigh in:

Weight this week: 226

Goal Weight: 145lbs

Starting weight/date: 249.6 lbs 01/07/08 (night)

Weight last weight in: 246 lbs 01/08/08 (morning)

Weight this week: 246 lbs

Alright well finally got my scale last night... and a nasty surprise.  Instead of the 240 I was guessing, I was almost 250!  Ugh - what a bad start, lol.  But I was always told that it's bad to weigh yourself at night because your body keeps burning through the night, so I reweighed this morning - 246!  So much better.  I guess I'll still mark last night's weight as my start-point because it's the heaviest I've ever seen myself yet.

I'm hoping to be at 243 by next week.  But we'll see.  So far I've been pretty good... I cheated last night and ate a lean pocket that I wasn't planning on because the lean cuisine I had planned for dinner just didn't take me as far as I thought, lol... but was surprised to see I was still below what CC recommends for me!  I guess at 290 cal it wasn't the worst 2nd-meal I could have had!

I think it's a good idea to just update our original post, it'll keep this thing from getting 10 or 20 pages in length within a couple weeks.  But on the other hand, I don't know that I'd keep looking back at all the past posts to find peoples' progress, and it would make it more likely that people would stop encouraging each other or updating us on their obstacles and such.  Just my $.02!
