100+ Pounds to Lose---we can do it!! Monday weigh ins. (start 1/7/08)

Quote  |  Reply

Hey Everyone,

Well, here is it, a new challenge for those looking to lose 100+ pounds.  I would like for everyone who is a first time poster to give a little introduction of themselves (include height, weight, age and anything else you would like)!

I'm hoping that this challenge can not only look at how we're doing in terms of numbers, but serve as a way to motivate eachother.  If you had an extremely challenging week, let us know.  If you found an awesome exercise or healthy snack food, let us know.  If you have anything, good or bad, that helped (or hurt) your weight loss (and overall health for the week), let us know!!

I'm figuring the weekly template can be something like:

Starting weight/date: XXXXX lbs XXXXXX (for me, 298 lbs 12/18/07)

Weight last weight in: XXXXXX lbs

Weight this week: XXXXXX lbs

and then list challenges, good, bad, etc. afterwards.

I would love to say I would do points and keep a tally, but honestly, I know it will be tough to keep up with everyone's TERRIFIC progress!! Hopefully we can all take a look at this and celebrate everyone's successes together.

Our first weigh in will be January 7, 2008.  Feel free to join whenever you like and give your introduction :-)

Let's do this together!!!

:-)

Weight last weight in: 252.0 12/31/07

Weight this week: 251.4 1/07/08

I spent my weekend in Vegas with some close friends so it was hard to behave :)

Hey Everyone,

So great we had our first weigh in---so glad so many of you were on board to join us, and everyone had so much success!

:-)

KissHello everyone!!!  My name is Marietta and I am a banker and artist in Nashville, TN.  I am 5'3 and fat and sassy....although not for long!!

My heaviest weight was in September of this year and was 235lbs!!!!

I started CC last week and weighed in at 217lbs this week.  My goal is 120lbs, and I am so excited about makng it happen.....but it is SO hard!!  If only it were this hard to eat chocolate and carbs....then I would be skinny for sure!  :)

Anyway, I am happy to meet you all and happy to have found this forum....I know it will give me added support and inspiration, and I hope I can help someone else along the way as well!

Okay, so finally I have been able to sit down and get on here. The past few days have been busy!!
Starting weight: 329.2
Last weigh in: 327.8
Weight this week: 324.4

So that is a total of 4.8 lbs in one week. I must say, I'm pretty happy about that!!
Good job everyone and let's all keep up the good work!!

As to the "editing original post vs. posting new post"  discussion:

It sounds fruitless to me to edit one's original post every week. Since people join the group at different times, not everyone's introductory post is even on the same page, so you'd have to search through the pages to find people's updates. No one would end up seeing your progress, and since the whole point is to encourage each other and cheer each other on, there's nothing wrong with the thread having many pages! You just have to read the most recent page when you check in.

That said, I'm at 231 today, and I hope that isn't a temporary low. I'd really love to see 230 by next week, so I can be on track with my goal of 220# by March 15th.

I definitely agree!  I think posting a new post makes it easier for everyone to read about what's going on---and helps us make special note of our weekly successes (or times when we need a little more support).

I am happy to report that I feel like I am doing so well on my lifestyle change.  I really haven't been tempted to eat crap foods, and I've been trying to be more active!!

Ugh... boss brought in brownies... I'm resisting, which isn't easy, but at least they're going fast!  I just looked it up and seeing the 243 calories for a 2 square inch piece just made it seem completely worthless.  And I have my daily alloted 1" square of dark chocolate... about 37 calories.

I'm really excited for the next weigh in, but I promised myself not to step on the scale until Sunday/Monday.

I'm happily at 231 again today, so I feel great about that! i've been fluctuating a lot since the holidays, so I'm happy to be losing again for real. I'm also feeling a bit smaller - the pants I just bought have some room in them already. Ha! By 220 pounds I might be down to size 16s...

I didn't have time to exercise yesterday, but I ate well and felt good about that. And actually, I took the very long way up to my car in the parking garage by walking around in circles to the 4th floor, so that was a good 10 minutes. Feeling positive today!

Encouragement to us all for a great weekend!

El, its great to hear you are doing well with the new change! I feel optomistic about it too.  It really does make a difference in your behavior if you have the right frame of mind to it all :)

groupie...way to resist! my boss brought in bagels and cream cheese yesterday...i just had to!  oh well...we all have our weakness though right??? LOL

and shoe! ive been flucuating since thanksgiving too! aye aye aye...i think i see a size 16 in your very near future...keep up the positive attitude!

also, way to go january! i want that kind of weekly loss!

hi marietta! im a banker too, hopefully not for long though :)

ive been working my a** off at the gym....it was hard at first but seeing results is the best reward ever!

how is everyone else doing??? any successes or challenges?

I know I'm a little late on this thing but count me in.  My name is Aaron and I'm 5'9" and weigh in at a cool 290 but need to drop 1 or 2 pounds lol.  Seriously I want to really be serious and lose the weight so I'm really looking forward to this.

I started on CC 3 days ago but have been paying attention to what I eat for the last 3 weeks and I must say that since starting CC this has been a whole heap easier.  I know that I can lose the weight that I want/need to lose and I know that my family is definitely worth me being a little healthier.

I guess I really am off and running (literally)...

Hello Everyone!

I just joined CC yesterday and just found this forum!  I think it's a fabulous support.  I'm 28, 5'3" and my starting weight on 1/1/08 was 274 lbs.  I haven't weighed this week seeing as I've been extremely adverse to the scale torture for years.  I really need to lose my pregnacy weight now that my kiddo is 8 Wink.  I've started the slimfast for breakfast and lunch with a sensible dinner.  I think the problem has been my version of sensible didn't always match!

The kiddo and I have kicked this year off right with no fast food or caffinated soda for 10 days - I really am proud!  I'm excited and feel really good about this year!

Starting weight 272 lbs

Goal weight is 150 lbs by my 30th!

Welcome Aaron!

We are alll here because we need to lose a pound or two...A WEEK :) LOL.

Welcome JFreak! It always helps to have the family on board with your goals too :) Nice job on the no soda...that is awesome! Keep it up!

In case you guys can't tell I'm peppy and positive today! (and a little chatty)

How is everyone else feeling?

Welcome to our new weight loss friends!  As Fauker said, we are here to lose a few pounds a week---and I'd like to add, hopefully without feeling that dieting and exercising is torture! Hahaha.

For me, the past few weeks looking at this as a lifestyle change has helped a lot.  Basically the better ways I have learned to eat (better food, portion control---NO fast food) has really helped.

This is going to sound so minor, but kind of a big thing for me.  I actually bought lunch for the first time in 2 weeks...I had a ham and cheese sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce, onion and MUSTARD!!  Normally I'd look for at least a little mayo on the sandwich, but this time I passed it up and just went with mustard.  I also got the low fat Swiss as opposed to the regular stuff...no chips or anything, just a nice pickle.  Sounds small, I know, but as I was looking at the menu I thought about how happy I am I have lost weight, and how that little bit of mayo would be equivalent to one of those 100 calorie packs (or more) that I have as a special treat every few days.  I've also been trying to make sure I have at least 3 large glasses of water (and generally more---but 3 is a good start for me!).

Glad to see we continue to have some new people joining us, and everyone is still psyched about their progress!

:-)
El

Hey El, congrats on conquering the sandwich!! :-)

Seriously, the little things like mustard instead of mayo really add up. Little substitutions like that - sugar free hot chocolate instead of chocolate milk, skim instead of 1%, light & fit yogurt instead of regular, splenda in my coffee instead of sugar... they all add up to great "savings" in calories. It's become natural for me to find the lowest-calorie option out of a particular category when I'm at the store.

Also, I am trying to get more veggies in my diet, but I'm lazy about cooking (and my husband doesn't eat ANY veggies, so it feels like a waste of my time.) But, I found something fantastic this week - single-serving trays of microwaveable frozen veggies from Green Giant. The broccoli and cheese is only 60 cals, and it's quite good! This is revolutionary for me!

I am feeling positive today because I exercised on my elliptical while watching Star Trek last night with the hubby, and I hit the gym this morning and jogged. Hooray!

Happy Friday everyone!

Hope everyone has a good weekend and light weigh-in Monday!

I've been eating better for about three months now, and I'm slowing way down in the loss department.  I'm sticking with it because I feel SO much better, even if I don't lose so fast, but I confess that deep down I hope I'll have a sudden 3 pound loss - soon!

Hey everyone. this is my first time on CC. I strted three weeks ago just trying to watch what I ate. Now I have added Leslie Sanders walk at home into my workout. I don't feel comfortable excersing in front of other people and on top of that I have a 3month old,so it makes it  a lot easier.

I have always been overweight. When i was pregnant I went up to 236. After giving bith I went down to 215 which was below my pre-pregnancy weight then I became very hungry all the time. I climed up to 236 as of December 31. I weigh in once a week on Monday what a coincidence huh.

Starting weight/date: 236, December 31,2007

Weight last weigh in: 231.5, January7,2008

Weight this week: 231.5, January 7, 2008

Goal: Ideally 130 but realistically I just want to get healthy for my son.

Welcome christina! Hopefully we all can help eachother on our journey to being healthy! I have the walking video from Leslie Sanders too, I LOVE IT! That is how I started exercising and once I felt more comfortable I took MANY babysteps to getting a membership, and now I sweat like a pig in front of whoever and don't care :)

Shoe, Im lazy about cooking too! But you are right, just looking for the right ingredients and content, you can find some pretty convenient healthy stuff out there! If you find any other special finds let us know, Im gonna look for those Green Giant veggies, that would be great for work!

El, there is nothing more that I hate than a dry sandwich, but you made a great choice to nix the mayo! That is awesome! Gets easier and even more empowering each time you make a great choice like that doesn't it?

And AMEN to the light weigh-in on monday pattikins! I could really use some good scale motivation, I am getting a little discouraged! Hopefully my vollyeball tourney this weekend I will see some results...BUT I really need to get back on my strict diet regime, that is when I see the most results....ANYHOW---

For now, gotta get back to sweatin to the oldies =) LOL.

Oh PS, I was watching the Biggest Loser this week, and cried like a little girl I was so moved by it! HAAH, anyone else lame like that? I guess I could just relate to all thier struggle and battle, its not an easy journey at all, but I wish I had 3 straight months of nothing to do but exercise and eat healthy! that would be amazing!

edit: spelling corrections

Hi everybody!  I'm so happy to find a group that isn't closing.  I'd been a part of another group on and off at the end of last year, and wasn't losing a ton of weight, but I'd stopped gaining and had lost about 7 pounds when the year ended.  I was without an internet connection, and didn't post.  I gained it back (thankfully it was only 7 pounds - nothing so large as to be completely discouraging).  I've been trying to get back on track myself, but I think I need a group to keep me honest!!

I'm probably between 6'1" and 6'2" (no one ever seems to get the same height when they measure me - the nurses/physician assistants are too much shorter and I've been hit in the head several times with that bar that they bring down to measure you, so I tend to slouch a bit so I don't get hit too hard), 304 lbs (that 7 lb loss put me under 300 for the first time in several years - being back over is a bit hard, but I'm only 5 away from being under again!), and 35 years old.

My "adult" step-sons moved back in with us unexpectedly (22 yo in July, 24 yo in October), so things have been a bit crazy lately!  One got my exercise room as his bedroom (it was technically the guest room, but we've never had guests) and the other got my craft room.  I still have the finished atic, but it has to be de-cluttered first (all the stuff from the guest room and craft room are in it, along with other junk that doesn't have a room).  So, long story short, I guess my challenges are exercising and being really good at coming up with reasons I can't exercise! LOL

You guys are all incredibly encouraging. And I find a bit of happiness in signing on to read all of the messages, I truly appreciate all of your encouragement and kind words. I am beginning to see why people say CC is unlike any other weight loss site.

On a side note, I just *had* to weigh myself this morning, and I have lost another pound. I know it's not weigh in day, but I am excited about this, and I think my husband is tired of hearing me say "can you believe..." :) So I thought I'd share with you guys!!

Welcome knitchick! We are happy to have you. I think we all have come up with some pretty good excuses NOT to exercise =) We are our own worst enemy that way and man can we rationalize things!  LOL.  Well, I have no doubt that you will reach your under 300 goal very soon.  Keep up the good work and positve attitude!

January, way to go on your loss!  That is awesome! I agree that CC is great for encouragement. I have been on here since September but never really posted anything or added friends because I wasn't sure how it all worked or how other people would percieve me, but now I am so glad that I have all of you!  Its such a great source of support and I am so thankful to know that there are so many others out there just like me.  I feel like I am fighting this battle with an army instead of just by myself.  I know that ultimately it is my own battle, but its good to have support in the infantry :)

I hope you all have a wonderful and healthy weekend!
