100+ Pounds to Lose---we can do it!! Monday weigh ins. (start 1/7/08)
Hey Everyone,
Well, here is it, a new challenge for those looking to lose 100+ pounds. I would like for everyone who is a first time poster to give a little introduction of themselves (include height, weight, age and anything else you would like)!
I'm hoping that this challenge can not only look at how we're doing in terms of numbers, but serve as a way to motivate eachother. If you had an extremely challenging week, let us know. If you found an awesome exercise or healthy snack food, let us know. If you have anything, good or bad, that helped (or hurt) your weight loss (and overall health for the week), let us know!!
I'm figuring the weekly template can be something like:
Starting weight/date: XXXXX lbs XXXXXX (for me, 298 lbs 12/18/07)
Weight last weight in: XXXXXX lbs
Weight this week: XXXXXX lbs
and then list challenges, good, bad, etc. afterwards.
I would love to say I would do points and keep a tally, but honestly, I know it will be tough to keep up with everyone's TERRIFIC progress!! Hopefully we can all take a look at this and celebrate everyone's successes together.
Our first weigh in will be January 7, 2008. Feel free to join whenever you like and give your introduction :-)
Let's do this together!!!
:-)

Sorry guys, forgot to weigh-in yesterday because it was a snow day from work (yay!)
Anyway, I was very happy to see this morning - 229.5!!
Last I weighed-in was 231, so this is a 1.5 lb. loss this week. Awesomeness. Here's to being comfortably and definitively in the 220's by next week.
I have a personal goal to be at 220 by March 15th, so this almost puts me back on track to that goal. I hit the gym this morning and last night, and I bought a new veggie cookbook (Vegetarian Gourmet-5 Ingredients or Less), so I'm pumped! I bought a bunch of veggies and beans to try some new salads, and life is looking good. Speaking of which, I'm huuuungry. I think lunchtime will be rather early today.
For a little snack, I like Breakstone's 4 oz. containers of cottage cheese, which are 90 calories and a good helping of tasty protein. :-)
Starting Weight: 253 lbs. on 1/11/08
Height 5'9", Age 47, Female
Goal: 150 lbs.
I'm starting over. I lost 130 lbs from 2002 to 2003. Have been gaining slowly from 2006 to now.
I'm very frustrated, but trying to stay positive and make long term changes that I can stick with for the rest of my life.
Hmm... lots of suggestions for laughing cow cheese. I'll have to check that out! Sounds like something I could have in the afternoons at my desk (3:00 is the worst time for me unless I push off lunch until 1:00; if I move lunch by just an hour, I'm fine - I think things must be slow here around 3:00 and it's boredom not hunger)
Forgot to weigh in yesterday (but didn't weigh myself this morning, so I'm still using yesterday's weight, just a day late posting).
Starting weight/date: 304 lbs 1/10/08
Weight last weight in: 304 lbs
Weight this week: 302 lbs
I don't know that the scale is right. Over the weekend it showed me at 298 and there's no way it was right. I'm thinking I'm closer to the 304 number, but since I tried several times and the scale didn't change, I'm going with 302.
Kind of bummed because while the scale says 300 is only 2 pounds away, I'm pretty sure it's more. I'll weigh again tomorrow and see what happens. For today, I'm trying to be good. Temptations have been strong, but I don't have any money with me, so I can only eat what I brought with me! Tomorrow will be better - I bought flowers for my desk but forgot them at home. (They were a reward for stuff I've done to lose weight.) I'm hoping that they'll remind me to ignore the cravings...
No good suggestions for snacks. As I said, I'm having a hard time resisting things today! I have conversation hearts (I know - shouldn't have bought them...). 20 are 80 calories. Pure sugar, I know, but I can suck on them and they're lasting forever. An apple in the afternoon is usually good for me - I got one of those apple slicers and I've left it in my desk. I love apples, but won't go to the trouble of cutting them up. The slicer gets it all done in one cut! Now I just need to get to the store to buy some apples...
Starting weight/date: 234 lbs 12/31/07
Weight last weight in: 232.5
Well I'm a little late with my weigh in...
Starting weight: 290 lbs 01/07/08
Yesterday weight : 287 lbs
Three lbs in a week! I am totally stoked!!!!
hey!!! I am a day late with my weigh in, but better late than never!!Last Week's weight: 217lbs
This week: 215
Total lost since starting in November: 17lbs
yay!!!!! I am upping my workout regimen and hope to lose much more this week.....wish me luck!! Congratulations on everyone's great weigh-in numbers!!

this week 250
Yay Me!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
Congrats to everyone! I am so impressed that we all have good news to report! :-)
Keep it up!
knitchick - I think the candy is fine as long as you can keep it under control. If you figure in 80 calories for candy, and you don't eat more than the 20, no problem there. My problem was when I'd sit an eat half a bag of candy corn in one sitting, without even realizing it - that's no good. But it sounds like you're doing great. I also agree with you about the apples, and bringing the slicer to work is an excellent idea - I should try that. I like apples, but I hate biting into them and I'm too lazy to slice them up.
I just found this thread and would like to join if it it's not too late!
My starting weight is around 270 and I am 5'8
My goal weight is 170 (really 150 but would love to just be below 200 right now!!)
I too have a addiction to food but I do not really like to cook, so I tend to take the easy way out and eat fast food. I have two young boys (ages 6 and 3). I work during the day and my husband works evenings, so it's just the boys and I for dinner. I have trouble because the foods which are healthy for you tend to cost more and take more time to prepare and by the time I work 8 hours, go to the gym for an hour I don't feel like cooking. I have really been trying to think of meals which I could prepare on weekends and heat up during the week or crock pot meals which are healthy if anyone has any ideas. The problems is I have trouble getting my boys to try new foods so do I prepare two meals or make them eat what I eat? I am hoping that this challange will help me get out of the funk that I am in.
Congrats to all who have lost and Good luck to everyone!
Hey all, I've been pushing myself so hard this week. I have been to the gym every day since Sunday, and I'm going again today, twice.
This morning I'm going for some strength training and maybe a little cardio, then this evening I'm going for a cardio kickboxing class. I tried it last week and TOTALLY got my butt kicked, it was so hard. Good thing was there was only 4 of us in the class, and 3 of us were new (including my boyfriend). It was oh so fun being able to punch and kick my boyfriend for 15 minutes, good way to get out aggression ![]()
Anyway, happy thursday everyone, take care!

Haha, sounds like fun, alldolledup - I wish my hubby would go to a class with me!
Actually, he was willing to try a fencing class once, but we didn't end up going. I should look into that again...
Hi Everyone....I'd like to be included in this challenge too.
My name is Tam_ee (Tammy), I'm 5'5, and I've struggled with weight most of my life and I've decided that this year is my year of change, positive change, one-step-at-a-time-change!!!
I'm at my all time highest weight ever - 298.1 (as of 1/11/08) and I want to lose 158 pounds.
I've tried many, many diets - restrictive ones, unrestrictive ones - got bored with "diet" food or restrictions fell off the wagon and regained weight that I had lost. I've joined 2 gyms in the last 15 year, was gung ho for 6 months and then life settled in and again weight gain and unhealthy.
I don't want to model skinny, I want to be a healthy weight for my frame and for my height. I want to be able to play with my family in a park and not feel like I'm going to die because I've ran a few steps. I WANT TO SEE MY FEET WITHOUT BENDING OVER!!! lol
I found this website and signed up - first positive step. So I'm looking for buddies and friends to keep me motivated and moving toward my goal. I'm open to trying new things including tofu, soy-based products, and new ways of cooking. I'm looking forward to losing weight as a result of being healthy by eating portion-sized meals and moving more.

Starting weight/date: 283 lbs on 1/8/08
Weight this week: 273 lbs on 1/16/08
I will start posting my weight on Mondays :)
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to share something really minor that I think is really helping me feel better and lose some weight. Eating breakfast! Yes, that's right...eating breakfast---and not at 10 or 11 in the morning, but when I get up around 6:30 for work!
I have been reading a lot about how breakfast really does help "kick start" your metabolism in the morning, and I have to admit I think it's doing something. I feel so much more energetic and ready to hit the ground running once I get into work and I think it has helped my eating habits, in general. I've also tried to make sure I eat lunch at 12:30 or 1:00 at the latest and I eat a snack (100 calorie pack, fruit, or a small pack pretzels) around 10:30 and/or 3:00.
I'm so happy to see so many of the same faces on here and so many new friends, too! I'm glad to have you around and to have other people facing the challenge!!
:-)

goingtolookgood - Make sure you're not eating below 1200 calories. Your body will think you are starving it and hold onto the weight. It's science, I swear!
I've had a really rough week...been to the ER, had MRI's...blah, blah, blah. At the end of it all there might be good news health-wise...I won't know until Tuesday. (That's when I have an angiogram scheduled....scary...)
However, I hit my first MINI-GOAL of 275 yesterday. I weighed in at 274.2!!! And that was in the afternoon! So yay! I'm pretty excited about it. To celebrate I'm doing something special this weekend. Either a movie or manicure or something! Let's kick butt this weekend so we can all have awesome weigh in's on Monday!!!

Hey everyone! Hope you all are having a good week! I know I am :)
I am super close to reaching my 20lb mark! Can't wait!
Welcome newbies to the thread, jump on anytime and chat with us...add me as a friend too!
Congrats Dani on your mini goal! Good luck with all your stuff going on, even with all that you are staying positive..that is awesome!
And El, I totally agree with the breakfast thing. I used to hate eating breakfast, now I NEVER miss it!
goingtolookgood, i agree with dani, eat more! :) I am 24 and 5'8" and eat around 1400 cals per day. Don't let your body go into starvation mode, that is bad...been there before =/
Im excited to hear how everyone does this Monday! Have an awesome weekend!
