100+ Pounds to Lose---we can do it!! Monday weigh ins. (start 1/7/08)
Hey Everyone,
Well, here is it, a new challenge for those looking to lose 100+ pounds. I would like for everyone who is a first time poster to give a little introduction of themselves (include height, weight, age and anything else you would like)!
I'm hoping that this challenge can not only look at how we're doing in terms of numbers, but serve as a way to motivate eachother. If you had an extremely challenging week, let us know. If you found an awesome exercise or healthy snack food, let us know. If you have anything, good or bad, that helped (or hurt) your weight loss (and overall health for the week), let us know!!
I'm figuring the weekly template can be something like:
Starting weight/date: XXXXX lbs XXXXXX (for me, 298 lbs 12/18/07)
Weight last weight in: XXXXXX lbs
Weight this week: XXXXXX lbs
and then list challenges, good, bad, etc. afterwards.
I would love to say I would do points and keep a tally, but honestly, I know it will be tough to keep up with everyone's TERRIFIC progress!! Hopefully we can all take a look at this and celebrate everyone's successes together.
Our first weigh in will be January 7, 2008. Feel free to join whenever you like and give your introduction :-)
Let's do this together!!!
:-)

Hi! My name is Julie. I am 40 years old and just found this great site. You look like a supportive bunch of people and support is what I truly need. I started exercising last week, but was afraid to weigh myself until this morning.
Starting weight 260
How often is everyone weighing in?
Thanks,
Julie
My name is Hillary and I just started. I would love to join this group.
Starting weight as of 1/22/08: 285
Goal weight in one year: 185
Hey Hillary and Julie! Good luck to both of you - we can all do this together.
Weigh in on Mondays and let us know how your week went!
Hi everyone. My name is Kriste I am 33 yrs old and I would love to join your group.
My start weight was 297 (dec. 19, 2007)
my current weight is: 288.6
I have also been overweight and I am ready for a change. I completely know how some of you feel about a booth being to small or walking past the cute clothes and settling for whatever is there. My goal is to drop below 200 lbs. by New Years. My 15th wedding anniversary is Jan. 7, 2009 and I would love to look great and feel great. My ultimate goal is to be 150 lbs. My challenges are salt (love salt on food), eating just because (I will think about something that sounds good or see it on TV and BAM next thing I know I am stuffing something in my mouth and just getting up to do anything. I am always tired and not bery motivated. My husband, who is 150 lbs and very motivated when it comes to exercising, we joined our local YMCA right before Christmas and have been going 4-5 times a week. They have a personal fitness trainer who develops a plan just for you. It is great, I do alot better when someone says here is what you have to do now do it. Every 6 weeks we take an assessment test and a new program is given to me to follow. So far I have lost 9 lbs and 4 inches off my waist. I have cut salt out of my diet, I drink about 80 oz of water everyday and anytime I think about food I grab a handful of carrots or grapes or a trick I read online is to go brush your teeth cause then food tastes bad and you won't want to eat it. I also read that before a meal drink a glass of water then after drink another glass if you can't drink the second glass you know you ate too much so cut back at the next meal. I am also now eating 4-5 small meals a day instead of 2-3 big meals. I hope I can keep it up and keep going. It took a lot for me to get up and start moving. I am trying to get pregnant and all I focus on is knwing that if I don't do this I will never have a healthy baby.
I wish everyone luck and great success. It is amazing seeing all of the wonderful people on here supporting everyone. for people who are not struggling with obesity it is really hard to understand some of the struggles we face.
Oh and thanks for listening.
thank you for starting this thread and I can't wait to read next weeks weight losses.

Hey guys,
It's been a hard couple of days. I caught a cold from my boyfriend and now I can't exercise because my asthma acts up when I get sick!! RAWR. On the good side, I haven't been that hungry, but I'm still sticking around 1500 calories a day. I've been drinking about 5 to 6 bottles of water every day, yet I'm still retaining. I guess my body decided to go into 'save the weight' mode.
Oh well, I wish everyone great weight loss this week, cause I don't think I will lose much!

Hey Heather, me too! I want to be healthy so I won't get gestational diabetes, and I also want to be CUTE and pregnant, not just fat. :-) My husband wants to wait a little while before we get pregnant still (he says 4 years, but right now I'm hoping it's more like 1) but I explained to him that it's a big goal of mine in losing weight, and once I'm at a healthy weight, we should reevaluate our readiness. He found this to be reasonable, so here's hoping. I've got baby fever (see my post in the Pregnancy & Parenting forum.)
Also, we're close to the same weight, so let's motivate each other! (I'm at 228.)
I just wanted to say Hi to everyone! Welcome to all the newbies!
If you haven't already, add me as your friend :)
I love reading everyones journal entries and checking out their profile, I find that you all are such a great source of support that was so unexpected! I love all of your supportive and positive comments on my journal entries and I love reading about what you are doing and how you feel about it, we all are pretty similar creatures yet so unique that we can gain so much knowledge and power from each other!
Anyways, I hope all is well with everyone =)
You all Rock my World! Keep it up!
Hi!
My name is Valerie. I'm 36, have celiac disease, fibromyalgia, polyarthralgia, diabetes, fat in my liver, and a few other fun things (did I mention that I'm nearsighted?).
Nonetheless, my husband and I look forward to having more children--our current child is 16 1/2, so it's (long since) about time for more. I joke that I'd like triplets to make up for lost time, but since I'm now off clomiphene (thanks to an incredible medical team, normal cycles resumed), the odds of multiples are pretty low.
In the meantime, there's no reason not to improve my health and calorie-counting seems to be the most straight-forward way to work on losing weight.
As for stats:
Starting weight/date: 112.5 lbs 01/25/2008
Goal weight: Between 110 and 155 depending on where I am happy with my health, can do the activities that I want, am happy with the amount and types of food necessary to maintain my weight, and am happy with my appearance.
My biggest challenges are:
a) Budget (e.g., homemade marshmallow-popcorn bars are waaayyyyyy cheaper for breakfast than healthy gluten-free cereal)
b) Planning (I'm lousy at it)
c) Focus (when I'm starving, my goals take a nosedive)
d) Pain (some days I do pretty well; others holding the phone too long leaves my elbow in pain)
Thanks for the companionship on the journey.
Valerie
I've done my weekly way in and I am now down to 205.6 just 89.4 to go until I am at my goal weight.
It's a lose of 2.4 this week. Yay.
Congrats OhBehave007 on your weight loss!! Whoot...whooottt!! Keep up the great work!!

Well everybody its Monday good luck to all of you on your weigh in day.
I weigh on Wednesdays and will post on Thursdays but I will be visiting this site tonight to see all of your great losses.
Thanks for all your help and support. I am learning a lot from this wonderful website.
Starting weight/date: 226lbs 1/1/2008
Weight last weight in: 223.6lbs
Weight this week: 220.4lbs
This week has been a hard week. Over the weekend, I didn't do as well as I hoped. I ate the wrong foods, but at least I limited the portion of those foods. One good thing is that I have been exercising more this week. I still cannot get the motivation to go to the gym, but I have On-Demand which has tons of good exercise programs.
Good Luck All
Starting weight/date: 285 1/22/07
Weight last weight in: 285
Weight this week: 279.5
The only challenge I am facing is going out to eat on the weekends with friends. I have decided though to allow myself one day a week to have the foods that I have been craving all week. I feel that this is helping me to not feel deprived of the foods that I like and it hasn't impeded my losing weight. I chose my day to be saturday so I can go out with friends and not have to worry too much.
Starting weight/date: 223.5 (Jan 2/08)
Last week's weight: 218
This week's weight: 215
I'm happy to say that I have now lost 50 pounds.
You guys can check out my journal for a comparative photo from Sept and yesterday. I had already lost 9lbs for the first photo, but yeah, the 2nd is 50 down.
Thank you everyone for your support!
