15 pounds to lose or more, who's with me. Support group.... On going!
Hi, I am trying to lose 15 pounds. My time frame is Dec.27, and I know this is going to be tough. I'm looking for a support group, a nice group of ladies, and gentlemen to do this with, and to share progress reports weekly, and tips on what we can be doing. Mini focus logs, like... Eating better, working out more.... Talking someone down from the cookie jar, Drive thur, bad day ect......
I just want a group that is going to grow into a great friendship with lots of love, and support. Any conversation is welcome, and even venting. We all need to vent.

A little about myself. I am a mother of 3, and has been at this for over 20 months, and I have lost a lot of weight. Starting at 226, and is still driving it home. I'm fun, and I am the queen joker. I love jokes, and great quotes & Scriptures. I'm not a person who knows it all, because I feel I am learning every day. I like to learn new things, and I don't mind learning new tricks to losing the weight either. I did have a over weight child, and she went on a life style change quest of her owns, and I am so proud of my daughter. I am doing this for my children, and now..... A up and coming wedding... This week I am trying to aim for another 20 miles. I do the 5k twice a week, and sometimes more, and I weight train 3 times a week. Now I've been doing this dance program a few times a week, and making sure I get 8 miles in on the spin bike. Trying to beat the living day lights off the last 15 is a killer. I'm up and down on the regular, and I know I can do this. I just have to keep on pushing for that finsh line. Sometimes I feel it can never be reached, but I am and I will reach it. If my pinky toe touch it.. I will be A O K.

A little about me: single mom of 1 7yo girl...she's my minime and i love her endlessly! I have a great b/f...we've been together for awhile, though we have ups and downs. I spend half the week at his place (when my girl is at her dad's) and half at my place. I workout like crazy....6 times a week. But I don't seem to be getting anywhere so I'm cutting back a little bit this month.

Victoria and Nikki, Glad you are with us. We are going to get there or stay focus to get there. We just have to do it. Any of you do the 5k run yet. It's booming all over the group posting around here, and I was just wondering do any of you do a run a few times a week. I try to aim for 2 a week, and do one day of spinning, and I tell you girls.. It's one hell of a ride.. Not only that... It's hard on the butt. The seat force me to stand a lot more, and that's a good thing.

Hi everyone. My name is Kim I am at this again. I am 5'7 158 and 32. I am a mother of 3 wonderful very engertic boys who keep me busy all day long. funny I am busy but I can't seem to shed a pound. I have body parts I never had its like each boy gave me something new. From different shape hips to a bigger behind you name it I got it...lol Right now I am trying to get a job I recently graduated and received my masters in counseling and can't seem to get the job I want. This has made me somewhat depressed and discouraged but I am trying to stay positive. I have been going on interviews so lets see what happens maybe someone will give me a chance. Time will tell like everything else. I would also like to be around 135 by christmas but I doubt that will happen but if I can get the 7 pounds off by then that would be great. Hi Kim, nice to meet you too. I was looking over your short Bio about yourself and say that you are looking for a job in counseling, have you ever thought about going to a High school or something, or is that different. I just want to make sure you haven't left them out. You can ever go to your state Human Resources place.. Ours is called DHR. I don't know what your state name is, but my cousin is a counselor for this company in IL, and she goes to these group homes and talk to these kids. It's a state Job. I do wish you luck on finding work you in your profession.
It's funny how kids can keep us going all day long. I have 2 myself. A girl teen is a hand full, and a 11 year old Mr. Fix it is a hand full too. My little miss noise is a hand full too. She always have something to tell. Only leaving herself out. But when she tells it always back fire on her. They all tell on each other. Kids, you love them with all your heart, and they are the first thing on your mind when you wake up, and the last thing on your mind when you go to sleep.

Hey lynn thanks for the response. I have tried all areas. Middle school, high school, elementary all but they want experience. I am from nyc. I go on interviews then when I get there its all about well we love that you have ur masters but we would like someone with a little more experience. This one principal was a real jerk and when I left I was crying and depressed and doubting my abilities for a good week or two. I felt like I was a disappointment to myself and to my profession. Before I went they told me he was a ball buster but he was really arogant. That didn't stop me but now that I think about it I think I ate my way through that week that is why I gained the 7 pounds I put on. Well I have been going on several interviews since then but to no avail I haven't gotten anything. I am still hopeful and at this point will except anyting within reason. I don't want to take a job worth 24k when I have my masters. Is that reasonable? I will take 30 because I am freshout of school but even that is low. I need experience so I just want that. I am sorry to ramble. How about you? How is it to have a teenager? Wow my oldest is 8 I can wait for him to be a teenager that is for sure..lol Kids are a handful but you got to love them....
Kim, girl keep at it. In time you are going to find a job for what you are worth. I had to open up my own business, and it wasn't easy at all. A friend of mines was all for it, when I told her. I was going to start my on home health care day care like system. You know, some people don't put there parents in a old folks home, and I started taking care of this lady in 2005, and then it went into a business, but I call myself a stay at home mom. I work with my uncle now, and the good thing about it. The state pays me to take care of him during his chemo treatment, and I take him and stay with him all day, feed him through is tube, and clean the dressing, and go on with the rest of my day.
I would have done it anyway, if it wasn't my line of work. I love my work because.. It's all about if I want to take care of someone or not.. I can always turn down a patient. I love taking care of people, and they are so nice to me. I'm sure there are some places you can get into. What type of degree do you have? Can you be a marriage counselor? Some of these substance abuse programs are also looking for counselors too for there programs. You can always check into that too.
There are so many avenues in your line of work you can take, since you do have your masters. I have to go take some classes again, to update my licences again. Like, CPR, how to do this and that. Stuff like that. These things always change.. They are always learning a new way to do something. And when there is a new way to do something. You have to get out there and learn it too.
Life is life. A teenager daughter is a hand full and no. You do not want any parts of that right now.. I have boys calling, and when he comes of age, you are going to have little girls like my daugther calling. LOL. I would love for them to stay young forever. More like 10. I can handle 10 forever. LOL It's not a easy job, but you have to love time love them.

I'm disabled (back injury in '99) and I exercise as much as possible, depending on how the old back is feeling. I started at 237ish in Oct '07 and I'm having a hard time getting to my goal now. I didn't lose any weight in the last month, but I did lose 4 inches.
I feel it's important to take those measurements, in case you don't lose weight. It really helps to see improvement somewhere.
I'm married and I have 2 children. A daughter who is 21 yrs old, and a son who is 16. Yes, I have my hands full. My 21 yr old wants to think she's a grown up, but she has a long way to go yet. She's in school for cosmetology (done in March) and she's a makeup artist. She already has her job and is working there and he made her his makeup artist. She's really good at what she does!
My 16 yr old doesn't want to be seen with mom now. He wants his permit to drive! Another one to teach! It's so stressful to teach kids how to drive, then to worry when they are out on the road.
Well, can't wait to get to know everyone! This is off to a great start! :D
Hi Tammy, and welcome to the group. I want you to be careful now. Don't do too much, just do as much as you can. You already know that, and there is no MD in front of my name, but I do want you to take care of your back.
The weight will come off. Have you ever thought about addressing your program in a different way. Like going on a different type of "diet".
Inches are good, because today at the cancer center I was reading some things about the scales and why it's not important to watch your weight like nut case.
What we may lose could be waste, water weight, or muscle mass, or bone mass. I can't really get into it really, because I don't have the article right in front of me. I should have taken it with me. It didn't but it did have some good facts in there, and some of them I didn't want to hear.
But 4inches is a Plus.
Where was this 4in loss from?
2 kids and a hubby-that's great. A 21 year old.. BOY! I remember 21, but it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. LOL.. It was more of the same ole same ole, with a grown feeling, but wishing I was still a teen.

My daugther don't want to be seen with me. I just may fly off in song or dance around her friends.. She said to me one day. Mom you are so cool, but lay off please. LOL! We know you are cool.. You don't have to prove it to the world. I would like for some of my friends to say at home on a weekend night. She has friends who wants to stay the night with us ever weekend..
So, we mom has to keep our kids very close, and when they aren't looking.... We have to be snoopy.

Good morning lynn and everyone else. Well I have an interview this week and I am going to pray that its a good deal. I hope its for a position that is worth it and worth me investing my time and I get a good compensation. As far as the weight issue its there and it doesn't seem to be getting any better in fact this week I have gained 2 pounds. I don't know but I am not giving up. The kids are ok. They are home today for veterans day. I hope I survive when they are all home they stress me out and all I want to is eat. I am going to take them out to do some errands in the morning so at least we get out for a while. Well take care and have a good day. I will check back later to chat.
Hello lynn and ladies, I am June. I am desperately trying to lose 30 lbs, but I would definitely take 15lbs by around December...beggers can't be choosers. But at any rate, I workout anywhere between 5 and 6 times a week and maintain a calorie intake between 1266-1400. I'm 25, 155lbs and 5'1 living in Jersey. I am newly married (a month and 7 days to be exact) and I am absolutely happy and in love. I love that my body functions the way it should and that it has partially gotten me this far in life. But now I just need to fall in love with the aesthetics of my body all over again.

Aj, I wish you luck on your interveiw, and kids can stress you out. But! You can't let food become your best friend when the time with the kids get rough. I use to do that too, and I'm going to give you the 3 keys to stop that munching on stress. Get you a good book to read. Load your ipod if you have one, up with good slow relaxing music, and run you a bath. How ever you like it with. Oils, and Bubbles. It really does help. Or, you can just take a few moments and write. Those things helps me... Oh! And a bad of carrots, apples, and almonds. Those are the best things to munch on, but watch the almonds. I call that bag.. My bad day munch treat. It's all good, and I am going through the motions of hand to mouth, but it's something healthy.
June, Congrats to you and your hubby. That's awesome. Love! I am getting married in June, and I'm not so happy about all the planning. I'm a let's get this done in a heart beat. Today would be fine with me. Just as long as the fussing, and the bitching would stop. He wants a wedding. Give me a court house a cheap dress and a flower, and let's get this over with. That's how I feel about it. You are going to get that body you are working so hard for, but I want all of us to remember this.. Do not let the scales get you down, always bring out the big guns. A measuring Tape. Tammy, has great progress still going for her, and when the scales don't move it could be a number of things. I call it a trade out. You trade fat for muscle, and you end up weighing the same thing, but those inches is what really add up. The number matter to most of us, but hey.. The clothes, and the fit of your clothes don't lie like a scale does.

Scale was down alittle (.5) today. Better than nothing! Although tomorrow is the day I write it down.
My inches were lost from my waist (1/2"), hips (1"), thighs (1/2"), and my arms (1/2"). I've lost a total of 48 inches in a year!
Here were my measurements when I started losing weight:
waist - 44" and now waist - 32"
hips - 53" &nb sp; hips - 40"
thighs - 31" &nb sp; thighs - 19"
I take measurements from my chest, neck and arms too. But those 3 are the most important to me.
Kids are hard to raise with all the "trouble" lurking around. I try to keep my son busy. When they get bored, they find trouble.
My hubby works midnight shift and I use to eat whn he left for work. We just moved here 2 yrs ago and I would get nervous being here alone. We use to live in the country and now we are in town to be closer to his job. All the noise bothers me. It's not like this is a high crime area or anything. It's not. I am just uncomfortable here.
I use to think my kids didn't want to be seen with me bc I was so big. But that's not the case! They just don't want to be seen with mom, period! lol My daughter isn't that way anymore, but now my son is! lol
Oh, I AM snoopy! Sometimes not liking what I find! I caught my son smoking out his window TWICE! I think that has stopped now. Or he's figured that if he does it in the house, I'm going to catch him. Now I wonder what he's doing now. lol
aj ~ Hope everything works out with the interview. Jobs are hard to come by nowadays. Hopefully things will be getting better soon. My son had Friday off for today. Our school tends to give off Fridays and Mondays for holidays that fall in the middle of the week.

lynn ~ I went the courthouse route. And then had a big party afterwards. I liked that much better. Trading fat for muscle....think that's what is happening here with me. I've been working out with weights more this past month. I like the way I'm looking now. I didn't lose any weight this past month, but my clothes are fitting looser. :)

Hey everyone. Congrats mom for ur lose. Might be .5 but it adds up. YEAH YEAH. Had a good day took kids shopping for winter clothes at the mall. The food court was so tempting but I was a good girl. I got a subways salad with just vinegar and a large diet soda. I know soda is not good for me but I just couldn't drink water with all those smells around. LOL

With thanksgiving coming and all what does everyone plan on doing and eating? I want to prepare and plan early as I have a large family and will be traveling from house to house although they have asked for me to do it in my house which sounds a bit better because then I know what goes into my food. Not sure If I want the whole family here but if it helps me with my diet I might consider it.
Going to cook dinner we are having roasted butter nut squash with baked chicken. YUMMMY
Aj, sounds good. Your plans! We are having roasted chicken here, corn bread dressing, mac and cheese, potato salad, devil eggs, Collard Green, black eye peas, Salad, dinner rolls, ham ( Pork not on my plate), and a few pies, and what everyone else brings. My baby bro. Makes the best damn pound cake in the world, and I have asked him twice to make it. I'm doing a few pies, and a peach cobber as well. I have to look for some other things to fix as well. I don't like to cook too much, but my kids love it. Oh! And a punch bowl cake. I have to make that. My kids love it, but this year.. I am going to use angel cake, and Low fat Ice Creme.
My plate is going to be going to be a careful layout, but here's the kicker. I have to cook too, and my hubby 2 be who tasted for me last year will not be here. He's going to S.C to see his grandparents, and dammit. I am going to have to taste and judge this food on my own.
I am going to work my ass of, Oh wait. We have the after TG sales. Oh right. I have to get in the bed early, and out the door to shop, shop, shop. Hot damn!

Good morning all how is everyone today? I meant to ask where is everyone from and how is the weather? I am from nyc and it is really cold today, well for me at least. Today is another day so I am going to take it slow. Slow is good cause I can plan my day and not get to crazy. Boys are in school so I get a few hours to myself. I am going shopping today for food I hope I make good choices. I want to pick up some carrots and celery to carry for snack and mayb some nuts. What are some good nuts that I can get that don't have so many calories and are really good for you. I can't eat peanuts cause I end of up eating the whole can. I was thinking almonds cause I read on here that everyone is always eating almonds. I like almonds so that will work. Well I am having my morning coffee well actually my only cup for the day so I am going to enjoy it talk to u lata.
