Eat 500 fewer calories a day. You should lose around a pound a week doing this. Try walking around your neighborhood for a half an hour each day. Good luck and I hope it works out for you!

How many calories are you eating?? Are you eating enough to support your basic bodly functions? Eating too little or not often enough does two things. First it places your body into starvation mode, which slows your metabolism making losing weight difficult. You need to go to a BMR calculator ( Google for one I think the caloriecount page might have one I can send you a link if you can't find one. ) and calculate how many calorie someone your age weight and height should be eating and subtract 500 calories from that total. Make sure to eat often enough, every 3 to 4 hours. By eating a minimum of 3 meals and 1 snack (some people go up to 6 meals it all depends on how often you feel comfortable eating) you keep your metabolism running smoothly and your blood sugar levels steady. This keeps hunger in check and makes it less likely for you to cheat.

Second you need to get more creative at getting exercise. Did you know that house cleaning can count toward your exercise? Break out that mop and broom and the cleaning supplies and get to work. If you can break a sweat doing it then it counts. What's the difference between lifting a weight and lifting your child? You don't want to give the dumbbell kisses when it gets to the top. Do you like to dance? Put on some good music and bust a groove! get the kids involved too. They'll love it and you'll love it. The point is to make exercise fun or functional. That way you're more likely to do it!

Thirdly make time for yourself, get enough sleep, eat right, drink enough water and make time for recess(aka exercise). It's like they tell you on an airplane adjust your mask before helping the person beside you.

I'm about to finish my weight loss journey that I started out two years ago. I had ALLOT more weight to lose than you do but the principles are the same. Losing weight this way makes maintaining the weight loss much easier. I've been in maintance mode for about a year and a half now to give my self a rest from dieting and to give my skin a chance to rebound,  and  I don't even need to count calories (I still do but I don't need to be as strict as I am when I'm in weight loss mode) Today is the first day back in weight loss mode.

Good luck!

I went thru the calorie count setup and chose that I want to lose weight.  It is telling me to eat 1700 cal. a day with the lifestyle I live and the exercise that I do 6 days a week.  1700 seems high to me.  I've read some posts saying to find out what your calorie count should be for my height weight age etc. and then saying if I want to lose weight to subtract 500 cal.  So should I be subtracting 500 cal. from the 1700 suggested cal intake?

No, the 500 should be subtracted from your Active metabolic rate. Since ou work out 6 times a week, it can be very likely eating 1700 calories a day will put you at a pound of weight loss a week. If you want more then that it requires a little math. You need your age, your weight, height and how many pounds you wish to loss in a week. Keep in mind though most doctors don't recommend a weight loss of over two pounds a week because it's diffcult to do healthy without being under the supersion of a doctor, nutritionist, personal trainer and physical therapist because doing so either requires eating below your Basal Metabolic Rate, or Over training which both can be dangerous without great care.

I teach and wear a pedometer.  You may not believe it, but some days I get 10,000 steps or more just from teaching!  I am rarely sitting down and always moving.  Try to notice how much you are walking around your class room and the school.  I agree,  get creative with your motion and your workout music.  You can look online for any genre you may like.  I have found some great new "music to sweat to" from others on line.  Good luck!
