How can I lose the winter weight I gained?

I'm 5'3, 140 lbs.  I used to be 153..lost to 125 last spring til fall, and then winter came and I gained to 140.  It's driving me insane.  My pants aren't fitting and I look gross.  I try to get to the gym about 2-3 times, but I've been busy. Otherwise, I do some at home stuff.  Last year when I lost weight I barely worked out and it came flying off.  Now.. I gained this winter..how can I change this?

You are experiencing the effects of yo-yo dieting. When your weight flew off last year, you lost some of your muscle mass. Muscle burns calories, and now you have less, and so it’s harder to maintain your weight. Start a weight-training program to build muscle.  Make sure your activity level is in the moderate range at least 5 days a week. Use the Calorie Target calculator in the tools section to find your calorie requirements because, ultimately, you have to burn more calories than you take in.
