Hey Everyone I am new to this site and am really trying to take things slowly and right and make a real life change etc. I weighed in on the 18th at 195, 5'2, 22Yrs old. Low activity. Everyday I seem to be losing a lb or two. Drinking tons of water, eating at least 1300 cals a day and no extra activity aside from chasing my 18 month old all day haha. I just KNOW i am supposed to only lose 1-2 lb a week not a DAY to be right...! What am I doing wrong or is it normal in the beginning? Please help me understand! Thanks, Jessica :)

Added: Weigh same time everyday upon waking and emptying bladdar.

Also adding i said i started out on 9/18 at 195

today is 9/22 and am at 186.2.

your body is probably glad to shuck off these first initial pounds -- be very proud of yourself.  BUT!  when it ends (and it will end, hon), don't be discouraged, that is the time to be strong and continue.  also -- my weight fluctuates between 1 and 5 pounds everyday!  so weighing yourself at the same time every day is important.  (lots of people on this site do not encourage weighing yourself every day.  but it helps me.)

Thanks. I wake up and pee first thing and get on the scale and that is the weight I record. I check it again sometimes if I am bored and I do notice my weight fluctuates VERY much just within hours 5-6 lbs from food, water etc. But I only record the one in the morning. I know it wont go this fast very long I just thought maybe im doing something wrong that Im not noticing.. Thanks though I KNOW my problem is when I am going to stop seeing the numbers move... EEK!

That happened to me for the first week, it was all water weight. It happens, as julia said the hard part is sticking with it when the numbers don't move. I keep reminding myself that.

The 1st and 2nd week could be high number drops in weight. That is normal for most people. I lost weight really fast in the first week, and I notice it in my clothes right off. I was doing a lot of light activity. I was walking a mile a day and doing some light weights at home before I joined a gym. Now that I've gotten that out of the way. Your body is going to drop water weight first, and then you will see the 1 to 2 pounds come in later once your body level out. You should be happy that you lost the amount of weight you lost. It's going to level out in time, and once it does.. You may just freak out. I did.... I was like okay.. COME ON weight loss what happen here.. It feels good to lose the unwanted weight. Be happy that you are losing, because most people don't lose right off the bat like you have- when they start a workout program or any clean eating program. Your body will level out in time. Do you have any plans on adding anything else into your new life style change? Running after the baby is fine for now, but you are really going to have to get some type of workout program going for yourself.

I wish you nothing but the best of luck.

Welcome to CC :)

Lynn,

I have an elipticall that I use once in awhile but probably should do more now. I just did 30 mins right now, but I used to only do 20. So I guess its going good. I know it takes more muscle to burn calories etc I am just so scared to work out cause I dont want to get bulky muscle looking. If that makes sense. Maybe Ill just do the 30 min elip. every other day. Thanks Ladies...

Most women have the wrong impression about weight training.. you will not get bulky muscles and this will help you lose weight and add lean, fat burning muscle to your body..

good luck I know its hard I made this change 18 months ago..
