Losing too fast?
my start weight was 369.8 and this week im down to 363.4 lbs which is 5.6 lbs in one week. Is that too much to lose in 1 week? Right now my avg calories per day is 1500.
You'll probably loose fast at first, until your body adjusts to this new way of life...then you'll gradually loose and average of 2lbs/week. Keep in mind that your trend line will show this average. Your actual weight will spike up and down, and that completely normal.
A lot of people notice a really big drop in the first couple of weeks, so I wouldn't worry about losing 5-6 lbs a week for a while. What I would worry about is only eating 1500 calories if you weight 370 lbs!! that is way to little, what caused you to decide on that number?
I started counting 1/7 and lost 9 lbs the first week, however since then I have leveled off to a steady 1.5-2.5 lb. per week loss. My starting weight was 260 and my current weight is 227.8.
I agree with pp that you are probably eating too few calories, I was allotted 1550 calories 5'6" 251 lbs, wanting to lose 100 1bs in 1 year. My activity was set at "Light", but I have since lowered it to "Sedentary" as I have a desk job. You may need to up those calories (by a lot actually) maybe check your STATS/Calculations again!!

My daily eat meter wants me to eat 3150 calories, but advice i got on here says that number is way too high. To get my 1500 I used my target weight of 190 lbs got a daily burn of roughly 2600 calories and subtracted the 1000 calories to lose 2lbs a week. Probably not a good way to do it but short of going to a doctor or a nutritionist which i cant really afford I don’t know where i can get a better guess
I am pretty sure that 1,500 is the bare minimum a man is supposed to eat just to maintain healthy bodily functions (heart, brain, etc.) so I am sure you need to up your calories. There are MANY different opinions as to the accuracy of the meters here, but I have found them pretty accurate as have a lot of other people. I can't imagine that 1,500 is anywhere near enough for you, but that's just my $.02 There are exact calculations for figuring out your calories, and people here that know them. Hopefully one of the will post the actual equation for you so you can recalculate. Good Luck

Heather: While the tools here work for most "average size" people, Morbius is anything but average. He is like me, tall and heavy. At his height and weight, the numbers this site will give him are totally wrong. This is not just my opinion, but is a known deficiency in the method used to calculate the number of calories he needs to consume. The burn meter here is based on the Harris-Benedict formula which will grossly overestimate the number of calories he needs to consume, so using the tools here to determine the number of calories to eat is a BAD idea. I do think, however, that 1500 is a bit too low and I would recommend upping it by about 500 calories to the 2000 mark. This would still give him a deficit, but not quite as much.
If you can't afford to see a doctor or nutritionist to help you monitor your progress and make sure that you are maintaining your health, then I would not be as aggressive in choosing a deficit.
That being said, congratulation Morbius, on getting the numbers on the scale moving in the right direction.
As for what caused him to decide on that number, I think that I might have been part of the reason. I was one of the people who told him about the problem with the numbers this site calculates for people of our size (I started at almost the same weight as him and we are both tall).
Morbius: I have lost a lot of weight by using an aggressive deficit, but I see my doctor regularly and have blood work and other tests to make sure I'm not damaging my health. If I wasn't doing that, I wouldn't have chosen so aggressive a deficit, which is why I would recommend upping your calories as I did.
Thanks for the advice guess i'll try 2000 for a couple weeks or so and see where i go from there. I havent been terribly hungry should i eat higher calorie foods or just work in more of what i have been eating?
If you aren't feeling hungry at the lower calorie level, you could try adding a few calorie rich foods as a treat. Don't go overboard, but enjoy the calories you eat. If you are hungry, then add more of the lower calorie foods to make you feel fuller. It may take some experimentation to find the right balance, but I know you can do it, just like I did.
Hang in there and keep learning about nutrition and healthy eating. Knowledge is the best weapon you can use to reach your goal. And don't be afraid to experiment a little.
Good luck on your journey - you're on your way to better health!
I eat lots of veggies which are very low cal and it keeps me feeling full, but then I also make sure to include richer, more caloric foods that make me feel satisfied and like I am not missing out.
Really it is about finding an eating pattern that is healthy and works with how you live your life.
Good job on your start! I always think the beginning is the hardest part!
