losing five pounds....
Hey guys! I just joined this site to help me lose the 5 pounds I've gained since I started studying in Prague. When you live in a country where people drink more beer than water (twice as much actually) and a half liter of beer is a dollar, you can't help it! haha.
So here's the deal. I'm 21, 5'9" and right now weigh in at 132-133. I'm trying to get back down to 127 before June. I just joined this site and I would love buddies that could give me advice =)
suck it up and drink vodka instead.
Hey there,
I've been living in Prague for the past three years and I know how difficult it is with the beer and other temptations! I'm a vegetarian, which makes it awfully easy to load up on all the good bread here. But about a year ago, I got my act together and started cooking (which you pretty much have to as a veggie in central Europe...) and cut way back on beer. I know it's super girly, but I've started drinking white wine spritzers, or simply a glass or two of good red wine (which I know can be difficult to find here) when I go out. It's helped a lot. And take advantage of the Ovoce/Zelenina shops! I must go to the one next to my flat at least 8-12 times per week and spend most of my grocery money there :)
Good luck, and let me know if you need some healthy (ish) restaurant recommendations, etc! Enjoy the rest of your time in Prague.
vodka still causes weight gain. all alcohol does. its the calories in both beer and vodka that cause it. although hard liquor does have fewer calories per 1 oz. shot than a 12 oz. can of beer, its not a huge difference. Regardless of how you consume them, too many calories, from any source, will lead to weight gain.
so instead, i cut down the alcohol intake. in the beginning you always just ordered a beer when you went out because it was cheaper than water (its rare you can just get tap), but i decided to suck it up and spend the money now instead.
and elisescrane. i love those Ovoce/Zelenina shops! and ive started cooking for myself too. although Im not a vegetarian, I don't eat beef or pork, which you know are staples in most meals here.
I would love any reccomendations for healthy-ish restaurants or just things to do in general. I go home in a month and i want to experience all I can.
Thanks for the support!
