Not losing! Help please! 5'4, 130

Quote  |  Reply

So, I've been good for about half an year now, and I've been at 130 lbs (+/- 2 lbs) for all this time. I run for 45-60 minutes every couple of days if my homework allows me time. I donno exactly the calorie amount I eat since my lunch and dinner are both random chinese dishes my mom makes, which are mostly veggies with occasional chicken or seafoods included. For breakfast I don't usually eat more than 300 calories since I feel really sick in my stomach when I eat breakfast. So I try to eat whenever I'm hungry, and when I snack it's fruit or yogurt. I never eat any store bought snacks, and when I do eat stuff like cookies and brownies I make them from scratch and eat only one when I have the craving for it. I drink water all day long. I'm really frustrated. Visually, I don't look any different and I'm not skinny in any one body part, especially not my stomach.

Any advice?

1. You don't look like you need to lose any weight. You look small already.
2. Your goal weight of 93lbs. is unrealistic and puts you at a very underweight BMI. Why would you want to look emaciated?

Advice? Re-asses your goals and do some reading up on body image.
oh lol, that was my old goal. not I just wanna lose my last 10 lbs and be at 120. That photo's an year old, so it's probably not right.
What made you change your mind?  I'm delighted, but 3 months is not very long for a goal to be "old".  Also, any help in how to get the information across to other people who think the way you used to think would be helpful.
Oh, well, I was never strong willed enough to reach that goal, so I'll just take a baby step at a time. Besides, I have no time anyways... lol.
i know who you feel... i'm 5'4" and 128/130 as well, and i want to loose about 12 pounds or so.

it's really hard because hanging around with my naturally skinny friends so much tempts me to eat more... but, we can do it. =]
Really? Wow, maybe we can buddy up or something! I totally need someone like me since my friends are all either eat all they want and still be thin or don't care about their weight.

Your current weight, for your size, is healthy. But I also understand the desire to lose a few pounds and how difficult it can be -- especially because you are already doing more than many people do in terms of watching what you eat and exercising.

One thing that I have found is that our bodies start to "cheat" when we do the same exercise all the time. The movements become almost routine and we end up burning less calories because our bodies get used to the movement. With home and school responsibilities it may be difficult to join a gym or do anything other than running, but you can still mess things up a bit and keep your body guessing.  Try varying your stride (longer strides then shorter ones). Or stop at the park along the way and do some jumping jacks, squats or other exercises that make your body work differently than it's used to.  This is usually a good way to burn extra calories which will ultimately help you lose a few pounds.
