Losing inches, not pounds - driving me crazy
Sorry not on the same boat, but I'm envious!!!
I wish I lost some inches... I have lost some weight, 10 lbs but not my inches.. if not for breast feeding making my breast a bit larger than usual, my belly will be as big as my breast!!
It sounds like you're doing fantastically! The number on the scale really doesn't matter at all - the number on the tape measure is a much more important measure of success, and however you look at it, you're doing great! That six inches off your waist represents a big drop in your belly fat, which is supposed to be the big baddie associated with diabetes and other illnesses. You're replacing fat with muscle, which means you're doing things right.
This also helps me because I am 6'1" and will always weight more number wise than others so I don't like to compare.
SIX INCHES ON YOUR WAIST AND YOU ARE COMPLAINING?!
*wheres my baseball bat* ;) i hear you but common sista -- you are rocking your body, and the weight is slow because you are probably losing body FAT, not muscle. just a thought.
Hahahaha I was just going to say that... SIX INCHES OFF YOUR WAIST IS AMAZING!!! The scale is just a number that no one but you will know, but EVERYONE will be able to visibly see how you lost inches.
I do Turbo Jam too, and while I didnt lose a lot of weight on the scale (maybe 15 pounds at first), the inches I lost was INCREDIBLE, and some people at work thought I lost 30 - 40 pounds. I told them they were all nuts, LOL.
GO FOR INCHES! SCREW THE SCALE! :)
that means youre toning and building muscle !! which in turn helps you burn more fat!
I'd be happy weighing 3,000lbs as long as I was the size I wanted to be.
I know exactly what you mean. I have been losing inches but not that many pounds as well. I was wondering why. I would think that the pounds would come off first then the inches would start going but apparently not. Ive only lost 16 pounds since I started march 1st but Ive lost (dont have the exact numbe right now) at least 5 inches total. Its weird to me cause I have always been overweight. Im glad to see someone else in the same boat as me. Good luck.
Congratulations! You lost inches which are more important than pounds. Muscle is a very dense tissue which equals a heavy for size tissue. Fat is a light weight loose tissue. You have burrned a lot! a lot! of fat off. equaling a large loss in inches. You have also gained muscle which makes up for the difference in the weight you lost. The new muscle you are building is great! You are going to burn more calories at rest with more muscle mass (equaling a better metabolisim, although you may not notice) You will also be less likely to suffer long term problems in the future. Like somone stated before weight loss is not as significant as the inches lost off of your waist! You are cutting your heart diease and diabetes risk dramatically. Kudos to you!
Howdy, way to go on your inches lost that is fantastic. I am very proud of ya. I happen to agree with pretty much everyone who replied to you. I think the reason why you are experiencing littel weight loss is because you are building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat. When I worked out at the gym on a regular basis I experienced the same thing. I kinda freaked out too but the trainer said that I was doing everything right and not to pay so much attention to the scales. Keep on going with your measurments they are a much better way to tell if you are losing or not. Keep up the fantastic work.
No one sees the number on your scales in your bathroom when you weigh, but you better believe EVERYONE sees your body shrinking! Throw those scales out the window and just use your measuring tape!
I was thinking about buying Turbo Jam but haven't heard much about it so what do you think? I run on the elliptical daily but how tedious is that! Which one are you doing there seems to be several and where did you get it online??? Thanks so much ![]()

i checked that out the other day too...and am like [] this close to buying it. i currently do kickboxing at my gym, and it seems fairly awesome. i was going to do the P90X, but saw that turbojam seems a bit more moderate, and i need to lose fat before i even attempt to try P90X. they have an Elite version of turbo jam...i think thats the one i'm going to try. it looks fun, and while i enjoy my times at the gym -- i want some variety here at home when i don't feel like getting a class in or an elliptical ride. if you get it, let us know how you like it!
