Losing Inches Versus Pounds

Quote  |  Reply

Does anyone have any thougts on this?

I have lost 20 pounds in 20 weeks but feel as though I should be MUCH further along in my weight loss progress. I never took my measurements but I AM SURE I have lost MANY inches.

Does that count as weight loss and what does that mean exactly. Would you rather see inches or pounds? What do you think?

I've only lost about 8 pounds since I started, but I'm down two bra sizes and one pants size.  I like it, but my husband isn't too impressed with the decreased boobage, though he likes my new butt.

Oh, I would much rather lose inches than pounds.  Heck, I wouldn't mind gaining weight as long as I look great in that little black dress.  Although I do weigh myself once or twice a month just for some quantifiable data to track my progress, I am more concerned with things like how those jeans fit, how does this blouse look, how much are those arms jiggling?

I think that 20 pounds in 20 weeks is not only amazing, it is a healthy and sustainable weight loss.  You should be very proud of yourself.

I wouldn't really care what the pounds were if I had the inches I wanted.

20lbs in 20 weeks may feel slow, but at that pace you're more likely to keep it off. It's worth the wait!

Also, congrats on losing 20lbs! :)

That would be a pound a week right? Thats pretty significant! My first question I wish to ask is... what your exercises consist of? If your doing weights, intervals (HIIT), crossfit... your situation is common. Your gaining muscle and losing flab, fat, whatever you wanna call the nasty stuff. Keep charging!! -CJ

Often times people see a change in measurement but no weight loss according to the scale which is normal.  Inches is better than weight loss because it means your body is toning and if you show an increase it could be the extra muscle mass you gained.  Don't fret.

Take care and God Bless

Definitely inches. I'd rather wear several sizes smaller clothes and *look* like I weigh less than simply weigh 20 lbs less. I consider inches lost muscle gained--a good thing.

(And FWIW, it took me a LOT longer than 20 weeks to lose 20 lbs--like a year or more. So kudos to you for that 20/20!)
