Losing 14lbs before July
Hey there,
I'm currently 21 yrs old, 12 stone (168 lbs), and 5'2''
. I'm hoping to eventually get down to my BMI recommended weight (119 lbs) but I realsie that's a very long term thing.
My biggest problems are big portions (I love big meals) and eating chocoalte in the evenings. I'm a student at the moment so fresh, healthy food is often hard to come by when you're surrounded by people ordering pizza at parties and chinese take-aways - not to mention that fast food and fatty ready meals tend to be less expensive than stuff that's good for you.
That all being said I am trying. I've started excercising regularly and though I've seen some inch loss from that I'm starting dietting as well so that I can see those lbs shift too. So... I graduate in July and the last thing I want is to have me looking bad in those graduation photos. So I want to lose at least 14 lbs before then. I was just wondering if anyone would like to join me for this goal :)
I decided that I would love to join you! I recently graduated from school and will be returning again for a post-bacc and I know just how difficult it can be- try losing weight during finals week-ugh!!!
I love big meals as well and chocolate and I hope that maybe I can give you a few pointers to help you control that since it helped me (even though, of course, I am human and I do have some cheat moments)! For big meals, probably the reason why you are eating bigger meals is because you either don't have time for breakfast and don't bring food with you. What I would do is go shopping in the weekend- don't shop hungry!!! whatever you do- and load up on apples, oranges, bananas, grapes, string cheese, nuts, cheerios (I would eat these by themselves), bread, etc. or just healthier alternatives or whatever is on sale (esp. since your a student if you're like me anything cheap is just as good). Then, I would get up about 10 minutes earlier and load a few of these into plastic baggies to make sure that I'm not leaving to classes without them. Then, I would set my alarm on my cell phone every 3 to 4 hours while I was at school to remind myself to eat even if I WASN't hungry. Sure enough, I would definitely stay away from the pizzas, starbucks frappucinos, and Togo sandwiches simply because I wasn't hungry! This would save me TONS of calories and it also kept refreshing my brain during midterms since I wasn't focused on food and focus instead of school loads. As for chocolate, I would have a few pieces of semi-sweet chocolate every day just to satisfy my crazings. If you do this, I can almost guarantee that can make your workouts do much more for you - in fact, you actually get to eat more the more you exercise as well as LOSE more weight since you're constantly feeding yourself with healthier food- look up other posts that discusses your METABOLISM and you'll see why it's more difficult to lose weight with larger, less frequent meals and how eating smaller, more frequent meals cuts the weightloss time to reach your goals...
Good luck and I'm also right there with you- I've lost over 50 pounds this way and have about another 12-15 pounds to go for Long- term!! Hope this helps!
I would love to join the two of you! It sounds like a great goal and should *crosses fingers* get me into my healthy BMI range.. which i would LOVE LOVE LOVE!
I graduated college last may and have started in a phd program this year, so that puts us all at about the same age i would guess.
My current stats are Weight: 159; Height: 5' 4"; medium frame, and almost always hungry ;o) . I worked off a lot of weight using this site last year, but broke up with the boyfriend at the time, stopped calorie counting and binged a lot, graduated and lived at home for the summer ... so i gained back a few pounds 8o). Ive been back on for a bit now and I'm eating much better, I think my long term goal (once i meet my weight goal) will be to eat salad for lunch every weekday and take longer walks and hopefully not have to watch the calories anymore.
I wish you both the best of luck and I hope I can lose it with you!
I'll join you girls! I'm also 5'2", and while my weight is classified as within the healthy BMI range, I would like to lower towards the low end of the category. I'm also a college student, but have found that to be somewhat of a blessing in terms of food (since nothing tastes that great anyway). Let's get those bodies, and make our exes jealous... :]
I try to work out every school day for at least 30 cardio, and 30 weights. Seems to be adequate since my courseload is very demanding. I've been vegetarian (without dairy as well) since January, and hope to switch to vegan sometime soon. My goal is near 110ish, which I was last year when I had mono. So maybe I should just go out and party a lot again in hopes of contracting another strain of that weight loss miracle virus. justtt kidding.
Anyway, good luck girls!
I would also like to join you! :) I am 5'6" and weigh 142.. started at 145ish 3 weeks ago and am hoping to be down to about 133 by the middle of May.. we will see if that happens since I don't have much to lose but I am just trying to get to a point that I am happy with what I see in a bathing suit hehe.
I have been doing cardio 4 days a week, sometimes more, usually running on the treadmill for 30-50 mins. I eat very well, but tend to snack a LOT at night on junk.. especially while watching tv. However, I am trying to find healthy alternative snacks and have been doing .. ok with it so far hehe.
Awesome! I would love to jump in on this...
I started almost exactly two years ago at 184 and have slowly but surely addressed some health problems, gotten in better shape, and lost 37 lbs!
I worked through my third plateau in November and am now on what I am hoping is my fourth, and last. I am 5'7" and my goal weight is BMI recommended (for a small frame) 137lbs. I am working with a physical trainer for the next four weeks to get back on track with the strength training regimen I quit on almost a year ago. Also, I am doing yoga 1x a week, elliptical cardio 3x a week. I am quitting Weight Watchers after just 6 weeks... it was doing more harm than good. I just joined CC today. My goal is to get down to this weight by end of May (three months) and have my first bikini confident summer since I was fifteen (nine years ago).
If you have any questions about my long-term weight loss plan and how I stayed motivated, learned portion control, and so on: I am here! I know I am in the homestretch but my pounds are just the same as your pounds. And I've 'been there done that'!
My weight 3 yrs ago was 196, prior to that i was 116lbs through out high school. I gained after i quit dancing and working on a farm- i continued to eat the same way with out supplementing with activities.
current weight: 159
goal: 144-125
depending on what im most comfortable with and how my body looks at the weight
Hi guys, I would like to join in with you! I've got 10-15 to lose, I'm 5'6", 125pds.
I'm not a student, I'm a stay at home mom of 3 and have the whole day to sit around and snack. It never used to be a problem until I hit 31 and then I started gaining even though I was eating the same as always.
If anyone's interested, another member started this thread for weekly weigh-ins and just keeping up with everyone to keep ourselves accountable.
If I can lose 1pd per week I can meet the goal of having it all off by July!! Here's hoping!
Wow thanks guys! It's so nice to see so many people joining up for this! I wish everyone all the luck in the world :) Thanks for the tips for beating the chocolate cravings and big meals problem - I actually went out and bought some small tupperwear the other day so I can fill that with a couple of little things to take with me to class. I love cheerios too - so that was a great suggestion :)
Also I bought a few fitness dvds the other day (really cheap ones in the sale because they weren't by celebrities!) That way if I don't feel like going to the gym I can still excercise at home (it's been awful weather here in the UK recently so sometimes motivation to go the gym is a bit low - having to walk 20 minutes in the cold and rain lol) Got a yogalates one (which is actually really good cus its mostly stretching but still quite a good work out) and a tae-bo one (I love Billy Blanks lol).
Hopefully this is quite a realistic goal as long as I keep counting my calories regularly and don't 'fall off the wagon' as it were :S I'm already feeling a lot better for this past week alone so hopefully in the long term I'll feel great. Good luck to all of you, and thanks for joining - I'll keep in touch to see how we're ll doing :)
Hey guys! Just wondering How everyone is doing? Well it's been my first week on this website and I have to say it is fantastic - thank you all so much for your motivation and support. In my first week I have lost 3 lbs! Hope you are all doing well too :)
Todays weight: 158.6
1lb down and i even cheated two days in a row, with a steak and cheese sub, 2 glasses of wine (which is very rare for me, i drink rarely) ham and cheese bagel from dunikes a carmel latte and an a mocha latte ice cream bars lol. sounds so gross now that im thinking about it
i guess the extra calories were just what the dr. prescribes hahahahahah. probably not but hey :0)
Wow well done theashter lol ![]()
I started on CC last April, lost about 10 lbs but then fell off the wagon for a while - put it all back on:-( - but now im back with a vengeance (its been a week) and hoping to get rid of this weight once and for all!!!!
Im 21 years old. Starting weight, last week was 156lbs, this week im down 2lbs.
Good luck to everyone!!
Hey ladytf well done for those 2 lbs! Glad to have you join us :) Good Luck
so since 2 days ago i lost close to another lb? i have no idea how to be honest ive been eating well over 2000 cals. since friday-sun with NO exercise lol but i will gladly take that. and today i am back on the band wagon of counting- i guess if i dont see results this way ill just keep on eating hahaha
1st post here: 159.6 march 15: 158.6 today: 157.8
jynx013, way to go on losing 3 pounds in the past week! That's great!
I'm down by a little bit- my starting weight was 126, when I posted here last week I was 125, today I am at 124.2. It's slowly coming off- HOORAY!!
Well done both of you
Just to say - I weigh myself every Saturday so will post every week after I have (hopefully without fail - even if the results are a bit depressing). I think a good way of keeping track would just be to post whenever you weigh, as long as the starting weight is on the post here then we'll be able to keep track. Hope everyone else is doing as well as you guys :)
Can I join you? I'm 28 and I am a stay at home mom to two little girls ages 2 1/2 and 15 months. I was always in pretty good shape but now I weigh 159 lbs. which at 5'5" is not exactly slim. I have lost 20 lbs since I joined this site but I seem to have hit a plateau and could really use the extra motivation to break through it.
I just got the Biggest Loser dvds (which I love!) and I'm doing cardio 3 days a week and weight training on alternating days for a total of 6 workouts a week. I try to take one day off. I'm noticing a difference in body fat percentage but no weight loss yet. The problem is that I have to cook every day and I'm having a hard time not overeating. I'll do great all day and then stuff myself at dinner and swear I'll do better the next day. Does any of this sound familiar?
I'm ready to quit making excuses and start getting serious about losing 20-30 lbs. Actually I'd be happy losing only 10 lbs if I could just get my body fat percentage down in the low to mid 20's. I'm at 33%-34% now. Yuck.
Welcome ida ! Good to have you here with us.. how has everyone been doing? Since I don't have a scale at school I always have to wait until the weekend to weigh myself, which can be frustrating because I would like to know how I am doing throughout the week as well ! Oh well. I started lifting weights 2 days ago, and have done it again this morning. Nothing major just about 10 machines hitting every major muscle group. I'm not trying to get super muscular since I already have quite a bit of muscle naturally, just trying to boost my metabolism !!
I feel like I look a lot smaller since I started, but maybe it's just wishful thinking? My love handles look smaller I think and I feel a lot firmer, so that makes me happy even if the scale doesn't change that much this week. Last time I checked I was at 141 last Friday, and I am hoping to be 140 this week. I have been eating really well so I think that is attainable. I am going home tonight for Easter weekend so I will let you guys know how the weighing goes !!
