Losing motivation and struggling, help please!

Quote  |  Reply

Ive been consuming 1,400 for a while and Ive been dying to go up already because I feel and I know that this is not enough for me. So I decided to go up gradualy, 50 cals a day, until I reached 1,600 calories which my nutriionist said should be more than enough for me, not to mention that thats the amount a lot of calculators gave me in order to maintain my current weight which is what Im looking for. I reached 1,500 calories and I felt really good, and I saw that I was maintaining in a way...but then suddenly gained .6 which I didnt mind much cos it could've been just water weight. The next day I lost .2 and then again gained it the next day after that and now today Im up almost .4 again. So all in all ever since I started going up in cals and stayed steady at 1,500 Ive gaine a full pound in a week, which is completely possible but it drives me insane! Why cant I have 1,500 cals and not gain like a normal person? I dont know what to do...Today Ive only had 1,300 cals and Im so freaking afraid of gaining without a stop.

Any ideas? I seriously need help because all Iw ant to do is restrict again and go back to my old ways which is what Ive been telling myself not to do all this week but its really creeping in after this whole pound gain.

help :(

Breathe, dearie. A few pounds fluctuation is completely normal during maintenance, although I know it's scary. Anywhere from 1-5 or even more pounds can be gained and lost in a day or a week and it's not gain, it's just your body and the way it functions. Things like water, waste, even the weight of food itself can contribute to this difference. Throw inaccuracies in scales and discrepancies in weighing times and conditions and you can have quite a difference. Don't let it freak you out and by no means start restricting again. This is normal! The average person doesn't freak out over a 1-2 pound difference, and remember, your goal is normalcy! You want to live a happy, healthy life, not one where food and counting rules your world. So don't let it! I know how scary and tough it is (believe me!) but you're strong enough to get through it. Don't decrease and stick with the plan your nutritionist suggested. 1500 sounds awesome, and you should definitely stay at that point. Remember too that it can take up to a month for your body to really get used to a new level of intake, so don't get too concerned just yet. Listen to your body and give it what it needs to do what it's meant to: keep beautiful, healthy you alive and running!

its water weight. it HAS TO BE.it cannot possibly be realy weight. chuck the scale. i cant really speak about that though i cant really ditch my scale right now but all my old ones i threw them off roofes/broke them with hammers/stoned them. lol

hi, yes, thats a very small flux and happens to everyone.  just curious, why maintain on 1600, that sounds like not too much?

If you try to maintain one set weight you are going to go insane.  Try maintaining within an acceptable range instead.  Just decide on a 4 pound range you would find acceptable and then keep your weight within the range.

Why are you so concerned about a mere pound of weight fluctuation?  Eat healthy, stay active, and relax...

thanks for answering guys.

I guess that I freak out a little mostly b ecuase of my condition *used to be anorexic* and the fact of being able to maintain a same weight for a long time and now suddenly fluctuating so much which is just weird to me.

Im hoping its just water weight which would make sense because the gain was pretty quick so thast what im hoping for if not then i dunno

I dropped again the weight i had gained, and now up another .2 which i dont mind ofcourse cos wtvr its not a big difference, but im worried that this will continue when as of before this would never happen...

i guess we'll see what happens tomorrow....
