Since losing 70 pounds over the last 9 months, I am always freezing.

Is Anyone else very cold all the time since you have lost your weight. I am literally cold almost all day. I am sitting here now with a space heater on me and only one section of my leg feels warm. I am going to buy thermal longjohns. Any other ideas as to how to stay warm, especially since I live where it gets to -45 with a windchill of -65 in the winter and the 60's already feel too cold. HELP!!

I am with you.  It is close to 70 where I am today and I am in sweat pants and a sweat shirt and barely got off the couch with my warm blanket because it was too cold!  Funny, I used to complain about always being too hot when I was overweight.  Sorry though, no new ideas for you.

Same here.

I have lost 70lb as well, and I find I am always standing with my arms crossed around my body, which looks really stand-offish.  I try not to do it, and all of a sudden I will realise that I am doing it again, and try to stop it, only to be back in the same posture a few min later.

Cant help you with any tips on getting warm.  I am heading into summer now, and I am looking forward to a summer where I am not so hot and sweating like a pig all the time.  As for how I managed winter, it never got below 2C, I have never even seen snow :(.

Ooo, I to have an idea! Come to Australia for the next few months! lol.

when i had my ed, i was constantly cold because i rarely ate and was very thin. what is your current weight now, how many calories did you eat to lose the weight, and how many calories do you eat now?

you may be always cold because you lack body fat. believe it or not, people need body fat.

Eek - I lost 50 pounds but even before now (like at my 25 lb mark) I was freezing ALL of the time!

I'm a vegetarian, though, and I'm anemic so that's probably it.

I am pretty sure I have enough body fat. I started at 227 and I am down to 159. , I know that is only 68 pounds. lol I have been following the CC 1950, then 1700, then 1650 calories to lose. Now I am eating way above that as I have not been counting the last few months. I am still 15 pounds from my goal weight.

I had the exact same issue last winter after losing over 100 pounds.  I was just cold all the time and wore layer after layer.  And that was in a relatively mild climate compared to where you are!  I'm hoping that now I've been through almost a year of maintaining that my body will have adjusted thermically.

Other than longjohns and sweaters, what helped get me through was a constant supply of hot herb tea.  Good luck!

I can relate! I lost over 90 pounds last year and I am dreading winter again. Last year I had to wear gloves and mittens almost all the time out doors. Before losing the weight I never wore gloves, even when it was -25c below.

The main trouble is with my hands.  When I am sitting I will often sit on my hands to warm them up.  When I wash my hands I make sure the water is warm.  I don't hold cold drinks, I put them down when I am not drinking.

I also make sure that I have a second layer of clothing so I can take one layer off when I get warm and put it back on when I am cold.

I think that I am getting a bit better as times goes on.   Regarless, I don't miss being hot a  sweaty all the time.

Good luck

Same problem after losing 100lbs.  It does gradually get better.  However, I think that folks who carry around more weight are definitely more comfortable at lower temperatures.  I went from being the one who was always hot at work to the one who is always cold.  They used to call my office the meat locker.  Now they call it the oven.

Gaah I know exactely how you feel! I have always been super sensitive to cold, but I lost too much weight and it got so ridiculous...even wearing 4 or 5 layers, wrapped in a blanket, carrying around a heating pad, and drinking hot liquids I would still be freezing my butt off 24/7! I'm healthier now, but still pretty cold all the time. The problem is that my mom is one of those people who is always warm...usually hot. She keeps the house at 66 degrees in the winter (my dad supports her because it saves on the heating bill). Let's just say I'm dreading winter!

One of the best things you can do to combat the cold is to stay active! I'm a student, so I'm always sitting, and being sedentary for long periods of time really makes the cold feeling worse. Even if you just get up and move around in short bursts it will really help to get you blood flowing and warm your body up. Try doing some jumping jacks tv or jogging in place while watching tv, and if you exercise maybe split it up so you're working out several times a day for shorter amounts. Strength training can help because it builds muscle which makes your metabolism more efficient and your body warmer!

When I lost my first 20 pounds, the first winter was very cold. Now, with another 10 pounds gone, it's even more cold! It's the 60s for me too and I've been sleeping with 2 comforters, 4 blankets, and a sheet. And I have Raynaud's (disease where your hands/fingertips/feet/etc become very cold). One big part of how cold/warm you feel is your feet. So, wearing warm socks helps a lot!

Oh I am so thankful to know that I am not alone in this and that it must be normal. I am sitting here now, just freezing. My heating bill is going to skyrocket this winter. I freeze in my house and I freeze outside. I better start stocking up on clothing. I already am sleeping with 5 blankets and my heater and I still am freezing.

This made me laugh.  I do get colder now than I used to.  Hubby would keep the air at 65 if he could.  But cause I get cold and we don't want a ridiculous electric bill, that's not what it stays at.

I moved to Florida 2.5 years ago from New Jersey, so it's so much warmer here.  The first summer, I was sooooo hot all the time.  The 2nd summer, I was still pretty hot.  And this past summer, I was, for the most part fine.  I think part of it is that you get used to it.  With the heat, it's not like being cold where you can add more clothes, you can't just take more off (without getting arrested).  So you wind up just having to deal with it.  Even inside, the air doesn't always keep up the cooling, so it's still hot.  Since I had to just deal for 2 years, my body adjusted.  I would bet that if you don't add all those extra layers, over time, your body will make that same adjustment.  You'll be uncomfy during that time, but in the long run, it'll probably be worth it.

I've only lost 30 pounds and I am terribly cold all of the time.  Last night I was at a friend's party with about 25 people in the house and I was wearing my peacoat and scarf the entire time while everyone else was saying "You've been bundled up this entire time, aren't you hot?"  Hahaha, no, actually, I had goose bumps.  I think a large part of it for me is my blood pressure.  It is terribly low (90/60 generally).  I am always wearing 4 or 5 layers and even then, I NEVER get hot.  It is probably the most annoying thing in the entire world.

PS- I also use a space heater and the boyfriend gets really angry about it.  But I can't help it, it's freezing!!!

Actually 90/60 is not a "terribly low" blood pressure. It is low, but you aren't in danger with it. My lowest (when I was ill with anorexia) was 80/40, which is pushing it.

My normal blood pressure now sits around 90/60 or 100/65. I wouldn't worry.

I freeze constantly.  It can be 80 degrees outside, and I'm a little cold.

I sleep with thick socks, and I wear a lot of fleece jackets around the house to try & stay warm.  I also have 2 space heaters =).

On the flip side, I rarely sweat, even when working out!

Oh, I'm not worried about it in the slightest.  But thank you for letting me know.  I just have a feeling that my low blood pressure plays into the fact that I am so incredibly cold all of the time.

Thank God that I'm not the only one.I'm started to worry because that happens to me  lately I lost about 66 pounds in the last 8 months and my hands and feets are frozen (literally speaking) I have to wear a sweatshirt inside of my house!!! I just start thinking that maybe I was sick or something! somebody knows why this happen?
