Am I losing too quickly?

Quote  |  Reply
I have lost 2 pounds in the past 3 or 4 days, going from 154.5 to 152.5. I have been making sure to eat enough--1900 calories each day, and I've exercised only 2 of the 3-4 days it's been.  Am I losing too fast? I was stuck at 154.5 for over a week or so. Is my body just "catching up"? I don't want to end up gaining it back the next couple of days, and I definitely don't want to lose any muscle.

That really sounds great to me.  I also weight 153 and would like to shed 2 lbs. a week.  What are you eating during the day?
If you are eating enough and eating healthy food then why would you worry about it?  Your body is going to do whatever it has to in order to be right.  If you are not eating enough it will hold on to what you put in and if you are eating too much it will get bogged down with the extra that it can not get rid of.  But if you are eating correctly just let it do what it needs to do and enjoythe loss.

Try staying off the scale except once a week or once every two weeks, then you won't be so stressed.

Keep eating healthy.
angie46: I am eating pretty much how I normally do, but in smaller portions. Yesterday I had a McDonald's southwest girlled chicken salad, a turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat, an apple, some sugar-free yogurt, 1 homemade chicken fajita, some tortilla chips, and homemade pico de gallo, rice, some chocolate, and a coconut ice cream bar. Yikes on the last two, I know :). That is why I cannot believe I am losing weight, I thought I would just maintain.

josal: Thanks, I feel a little better now. Although I have to weigh myself everday or I will lose focus and motivation. Otherwise, weighing once a week is probably best.
No, you do not need to weigh yourself once a day.  Doing things like that can cause an obsession in that you MUST do this to get results.

Same thing for logging calories.  Its a great indicator and a great tool to use at first, but you need to learn to live without it and not be as dependant on it, else it might create an obsession.

You are in control of your mind and your body.  You are in control of your weight loss and your life.  Don't let the weight loss control you.
