Losing "Vanity Pounds" (Closed Group)
I looked and looked around, but couldn't find a good forum for people who are just trying to lose "vanity pounds". Everybody's trying to lose a lot of weight, or trying to maintain a healthy weight. But I can't seem to find anybody who's looking to get rid of the little "soft spots" here and there and just make their body and life a little healthier and look a little better. ;)
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a group for people who feel they are in pretty good condition already, and they can go about their lives without extra attention to diet/exercise. This is NOT a group for people who are looking to "lose weight," but instead- as stated in the title- to lose the extra "vanity weight" (the extra flab here and fluff there). This is pretty much a group for people trying to tone up. Henceforth, "Goal Weight" is no longer included in the member stats. This is about gaining muscle/toning, not losing weight.

jewel_girl is the winner for the clean-eating challenge! She whooped us all with her astounding talents to say no to fast food and say yet to healthier alternatives! Even with a slight splurge at the end, she says she wouldn't have traded that moment with her daughter sharing New York Fries for anything! Congratulations, Jamie!
Current Challenge: Add up all your hours/minutes of cardio activity. You can add up everything you do at the gym (bike- 86 min, elliptical, 138 min, etc, etc, etc) AND you can add up anything extra you do. Anything from going out to the club (as long as your dancing, not just trolling! ;] ), swimming, bike-riding, roller blading, anything. Just try to keep it honest with the fact that it's cardio. If you walk to work every day (like me!), I don't think you can count those 15-20 minutes as cardio since they're not getting your heart rate up that high. If you're doing something where you can still keep a conversation going, but you have to breathe a lot heavier, you're in the activity range we're talking!

I think I fall into this category and would love to join.
26 yrs. 5'6" 143 lbs small frame
Goal Weight: 125-130
I have lost about 30 lbs over the last 8 months and would love to be down to that goal weight waaay before summer. I want to tone up my upper body and slim down the lower part.
I know there is no way to target where your body looses weight, but I think at this stage in our weight loss everyone has something they are working on extra hard. I would love to see what everyone is working on and how you are doing it!
Hey Guys!
Id love to join too!!!, this is a great forum.
Im a 26 year old single female.....wanting to look fabulous in a bathing suit :)
5'9 141lbs med frame.
Goal weight: 130
I am 27 years old, small frame, currently around 123 lbs.
Not sure how much weight I want to lose, but I have saddlebags on my hips that I would like to disappear before I pack away all my sweaters! Would love any feedback!
I am 5'8" and weigh 139.
I would love to get back down to 130.
BRING ON THE CHALLENGES
I also would love to join.
I am 5' 7" and weigh 133. My goal is 123. I would love to be able to wear skinny jeans and leggings! I've also started running about 25-30 miles/week and I know taking off these extra pounds will put a lot less pressure on my joints and make me faster!!!
Gisellewindecher: Im with you....this is gonna be brudal lol. I have to be at work for 9 so that means i have to be at the gym for 6:30!!!! EEEK! hahahah. Im goin to be asking you if you went :)
missgendale, what a great idea!
I'm 5'3" and 113 pounds. I would love to lose saddlebags and make my booty not look like I sit in an office for 8 hours a day! Skinny jeans and a firm rear...("to dream the impossible dream" is playing in my head). :)
I've got a challenge idea: No processed sugar for a week. (I always get a sugar craving in the afternoon, but I tried this once before and found that after a few days - or 10 - I didn't have cravings. It was also the one thing that really made me lose weight after I had plateaued, even though I don't eat much junk food to begin with.)
I'm 5'7", 140.2 with a goal of 130ish.
I'm 25 years old and want to tone triceps (biceps are fine) and get rid of these love-handles that have been with me from the beginning. My highest weight was about 174 in the summer of 2002. While losing weight, everything has gotten smaller except my chest (oh thank goodness!) and my love-handles; I swear they are the same size they've always been and it's really starting to drive me crazy.
Well, this week school starts for me so before I get really busy, I'm starting to be good already. Sunday I made lots and lots of food so I have things to eat for the week (soup, steak, rice, salad, and roasted veggies). And I've been trying to workout, but its hard.
On days when I just can't make it to the gym, I try to walk everywhere. Living in D.C. - it is pretty realistic.
lasly, I read a really good blog last night. This women considered working out minutes to add up in a "piggy bank." So she was in competition with herself. For example....class got out early by ten minutes? That's ten minutes you could spend walking or doing ab work. At the end of the day, she'd add up all her "extra" workout minutes and see how well she did. I loved the idea. Will try it today.
But first, off to the gym :).
IMPORTANT NOTE in post #1, everybody please read it! If this is the group for you still, great! If not, I can take you off our list at your request.
Thank you.
I also live in FL and never have been able to enjoy our beautiful beaches because I am so self conscious. So the bikini thing as others have said, would be great too. My boyfriend is dying to go to the beach with me, I would love to feel good about it this summer. =)
This sounds fun! =]

I would be THRILLED to get to 105.
Please remember that while all other goals and ambitions are valid here, an amount isn't. It's not about the number of lbs you weight because muscle weight more than fat. And if you build up that muscle to burn off the rest of that fat, you'll probably gain a pound or two. You're in, but just remember we don't talk numbers here. ;)

trying to get back in shape to model aka no jiggle when wearing a bikini.
I'm in, I'm in!
I'm 33 years old, from France and even though I'm a marathon runner, I still have a big bottom and would like to go down to 55kg (110) to run faster and especially feel better. I currently weigh 61kg (122) for 165cm (5'5). I hope I did not get those conversions wrong.
I've realised my conversions were wrong as a matter of fact. So here are the real ones:
61kgs = 134.4
55kgs = 121.25
Sorry about that! Still learning!
Good job, Courtney!!
Tell us about your "shape improvement"!
