Losing "Vanity Pounds" (Closed Group)
I looked and looked around, but couldn't find a good forum for people who are just trying to lose "vanity pounds". Everybody's trying to lose a lot of weight, or trying to maintain a healthy weight. But I can't seem to find anybody who's looking to get rid of the little "soft spots" here and there and just make their body and life a little healthier and look a little better. ;)
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a group for people who feel they are in pretty good condition already, and they can go about their lives without extra attention to diet/exercise. This is NOT a group for people who are looking to "lose weight," but instead- as stated in the title- to lose the extra "vanity weight" (the extra flab here and fluff there). This is pretty much a group for people trying to tone up. Henceforth, "Goal Weight" is no longer included in the member stats. This is about gaining muscle/toning, not losing weight.

jewel_girl is the winner for the clean-eating challenge! She whooped us all with her astounding talents to say no to fast food and say yet to healthier alternatives! Even with a slight splurge at the end, she says she wouldn't have traded that moment with her daughter sharing New York Fries for anything! Congratulations, Jamie!
Current Challenge: Add up all your hours/minutes of cardio activity. You can add up everything you do at the gym (bike- 86 min, elliptical, 138 min, etc, etc, etc) AND you can add up anything extra you do. Anything from going out to the club (as long as your dancing, not just trolling! ;] ), swimming, bike-riding, roller blading, anything. Just try to keep it honest with the fact that it's cardio. If you walk to work every day (like me!), I don't think you can count those 15-20 minutes as cardio since they're not getting your heart rate up that high. If you're doing something where you can still keep a conversation going, but you have to breathe a lot heavier, you're in the activity range we're talking!

With 35ish people in this group and 40 messages/day allowance... not a lot of "reply" room. Hahaha. I sent the message, so everyone knows. I didn't want to point anyone out, but I did wnt everyond to stop and think about what the group meant before committing to it.

WOOO! Greetings everyone! Welcome new members! Just a few things:
Challenges: I'm going to post up some challenge ideas tonight and you all need to PM me your votes. I'll set up some sort of fomat I'd liek the PM in for easier calculation later with the challenges. After I get all the votes, I will calculate all of them on Friday, January 25 and will post the results soon afterwards. Our first challenge will begin Monday, January 28. Everybody check in on Monday to get the new challenges and to post the results of the old one. I will post the winner of the challenge on Tuesday night. Does this make sense to everyone? If you have any questions let me know!

I'm 21, 5'8" and I weight 146lbs.
I don't have a goal weight but would love to get rid of my "baby belly" I had a daughter 18 months ago and just want to firm up those unfirm parts!
Hope that everyone on here is doing well. I've been eating almost all veggies (cooked, mashed, roasted, etc) for 2 days now and I am feeling great. Sometimes it just takes that first good feeling to help get motivated to keep eating well and exercise.
I started a pilates class and am loving it. It is very hard because my abs seem nonexistent, but just the stretching and strengthening feels great.
Since we don't have challenges yet for this week, I thought I'd let you know my own.
THIS WEEK I AM WALKING AS MUCH AS I CAN (PARKING FURTHER, WALKING TO THE GROCERY STORE, ETC) AND TAKING AT LEAST 10-15 MINUTES EVERY DAY JUST TO STRETCH.
That's a great challenge, annarapp! I'm doing that too! There's a staircase outside my work for vanity purposes, that just goes up, then right back down the other side (like a pyramid, kinda), and I walk up and down that on my breaks and before and after work.

Actually, I was thinking it would be good to have a challenge for lifting weights, because I just will NOT do it on my own!
Maybe like, for one week we have to put in so many minutes of weight training... ok that's not very creative, but could work ;)
me too, I don't normally lift weights on my own, but we have a set, so if we had a challenge, I would be up for that.

Argh! This past week hasn't been good. I've been 'out out' way more than usual and yesterday was my birthday so there was the meal with parents, meal with boyfriend, birthday cake etc. etc.
Looking forward to getting back on track this week with lots of fruit and veggies and water and less crap. There's still well over half the amazing chocolate birthday cake left though!
Should we be posting #oz water each day or just the total next monday night?

I really lost it this weekend. I ate SO much and undid all my week hard work. I feel awful. I do great all week, but I go out on the weekends and well....many cocktails and binge-meals later, I do not look good and my stomach is not happy.
I guess its time to drink lots of water, and tomorrow, hop back on.
ARGH.
