I looked and looked around, but couldn't find a good forum for people who are just trying to lose "vanity pounds". Everybody's trying to lose a lot of weight, or trying to maintain a healthy weight. But I can't seem to find anybody who's looking to get rid of the little "soft spots" here and there and just make their body and life a little healthier and look a little better. ;)

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a group for people who feel they are in pretty good condition already, and they can go about their lives without extra attention to diet/exercise. This is NOT a group for people who are looking to "lose weight," but instead- as stated in the title- to lose the extra "vanity weight" (the extra flab here and fluff there). This is pretty much a group for people trying to tone up. Henceforth, "Goal Weight" is no longer included in the member stats. This is about gaining muscle/toning, not losing weight.

NEWS:

jewel_girl is the winner for the clean-eating challenge! She whooped us all with her astounding talents to say no to fast food and say yet to healthier alternatives! Even with a slight splurge at the end, she says she wouldn't have traded that moment with her daughter sharing New York Fries for anything! Congratulations, Jamie!

Current Challenge: Add up all your hours/minutes of cardio activity. You can add up everything you do at the gym (bike- 86 min, elliptical, 138 min, etc, etc, etc) AND you can add up anything extra you do. Anything from going out to the club (as long as your dancing, not just trolling! ;] ), swimming, bike-riding, roller blading, anything. Just try to keep it honest with the fact that it's cardio. If you walk to work every day (like me!), I don't think you can count those 15-20 minutes as cardio since they're not getting your heart rate up that high. If you're doing something where you can still keep a conversation going, but you have to breathe a lot heavier, you're in the activity range we're talking!

I've been doing okay but I just started class AND a new job and I feel spread really thin.
Good Afternoon, I'm psyched about the water challenge! just a warning, I drink a lot of water! How's everyone doing this week? I did some heavy weight lifting last week and was sore all weekend, but the good kind of sore! Also, a fun fact, my hubby and I took our measurements last week as we are both trying to gain muscle, and my biceps were bigger! Ha ha ha! Of course, I have been weight lifting much longer and he is a skinny guy, but I have to enjoy it while it lasts, because I'm sure he will surpass me soon!

Do we post our water every day, or only at the end?

Smile

Ooooh....I ordered a heart rate monitor on amazon and was really looking forward to it arriving especially 2 weeks past the ETA.

Used it today during spinning and the calorie burn it gave me was silly low - 145!  :(

Energygirl- that's really great about you and your hubby! I'd do the same with mine, but he's rock-climbed for fun for a while now and has pretty big biceps, considering. It's really funny, but we have the exact same BMI... even though he's 10 inches taller than me! Hahaha! So, sadly, I can't do that with him. :(

I figure, we'll be measuring all our water-consumption on Monday before noon my time. (It's about 5:22 when I'm posting this.) Add it all up and call it in! Yeah! :)

Keep drinking, ladies! (I keep forgetting to; water's one of my biggest challenges, personally!)

Also, I found this cool website and I figure it could help a lot of you out! I know that I personally and trying to get that "sculpted" body, all chisled and amazing. A few of you other gals may want to try these workout tips with me!

UGH!  I'm doing a terrible job with this challenge.  I've had 9--yes, only 9--glasses of water this week so far.  Someone else tell me how many you've had - shame can be a motivator (or so I've heard).  :)

The water one is easy for me... I drink out of a 32 oz nalgene all day long, probably refilling it two to three times.

I need a challenge of less alcohol for the week haha!

This is an easy one for me too - also a nalgene carrier. I didn't actually realize quite how much I do drink. It's hard to remember to keep track of it though.
Hey everyone! Just got back from holiday. I think I'm a bit too late for the water challenge but I will partake in the next one! :)

Welcome back Green Tea Turtle Baby!

I'm doing okay on this challenge. Not too well, but not as horribly as I could be doing! I drink out of a 32 oz water bottle too! :) We're too cool, hahaha.

Hope everybody can step it up for the final bit! Remember Check Ins are Monday by noon AZ, USA time. (It's noon right now, so check what time it is where you are and compare!)

Have a good and safe weekend! And remember to keep on drinking! ...water that is ;)

Im checking in now because if I wait til noon your time I'll have almost 8 days not 7.

= 667oz

Started off well but the wriggling round in lectures desperate for the loo was a bit annoying. Friday I was guzzling it down and going to the loo less - getting used to it but I went out that night and Saturday I was absolutely exhausted and just not up for chucking liquid down myself. Today I don't know what went wrong.

Okay, I would just like to start by saying I know that I am kind of a water guzzling freak, always have been. Oh, and yes, I go pee ALL THE TIME!

Monday - 200 oz / 25 glasses

Tuesday - 208 oz / 26 glasses

Wednesday - 192 oz / 24 glasses

Thursday - 160 oz / 20 glasses

Friday - 240 oz / 30 glasses

Saturday - 216 oz / 27 glasses

Sunday - 168 oz / 21 glasses

Total - 1384 oz / 173 glasses

Alright, I'm so out of my league here (eh, hem, I thinking of you, energygirl!!).  Although my water intake was low, I had 5 beers during the game last night...oh wait, that's probably not a good thing...  :)  Oh well, I'll do better on the next challenge!
Ha ha angelsolo, I had a bottle of wine yesterday too, so I tried to drink as much or more water to reduce the risk of hangover (successful) and the risk of bloating (horribly unsuccessful). What it did was just send me to the bathroom every 10 minutes or so of the superbowl.
So what's a new challenge for us? Isn't this a weekly thing? My week begins on Monday.

OK, I can't compete with 25 glasses of water per day but I'll post mine anyway.

On a personal level, I'm  pretty happy with my intake, 72 ounces per day is my personal minimum, I feel hydrated, but I don't have to "go" every 10 minutes, LOL

Mon:  84 ounces

Tues:  72 ounces

Wed:  72 ounces

Thurs:  74 ounces

Fri:  72 ounces

Sat:  54 ounces

Sun:  72 ounces =   Total:  500 ounces

p.s. Erinlf & energygirl, what's a Nalgene??

Next challenge??  maybe we could vote by friday or saturday or sunday afternoons, that way we can get started first thing monday morning every week...

anything exercise would be good, I could use some motivation, lol

a Nalgene is a brand of water bottle, check out this link:

http://www.nalgene-outdoor.com/

They are very handy, and stand up to a lot of abuse, and the wide mouth ones are very easy to refill and clean. Although, I personally need to use a sipguard so as to not spill water all over myself.

I'm embarassed!!! My participation in this challenge was a fiascooooo!! Embarassed

Monday: 40 oz

Tuesday: 38 oz

Wednesday: 80 oz

Thursday: 40 oz

Friday: 60 oz

Saturday+Sunday: 99 oz

Total: 357 oz (approximately)

Well, at least this was more than I'm used to drink... which is an improvement!! Wink
