Losing "Vanity Pounds" (Closed Group)
I looked and looked around, but couldn't find a good forum for people who are just trying to lose "vanity pounds". Everybody's trying to lose a lot of weight, or trying to maintain a healthy weight. But I can't seem to find anybody who's looking to get rid of the little "soft spots" here and there and just make their body and life a little healthier and look a little better. ;)
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a group for people who feel they are in pretty good condition already, and they can go about their lives without extra attention to diet/exercise. This is NOT a group for people who are looking to "lose weight," but instead- as stated in the title- to lose the extra "vanity weight" (the extra flab here and fluff there). This is pretty much a group for people trying to tone up. Henceforth, "Goal Weight" is no longer included in the member stats. This is about gaining muscle/toning, not losing weight.

jewel_girl is the winner for the clean-eating challenge! She whooped us all with her astounding talents to say no to fast food and say yet to healthier alternatives! Even with a slight splurge at the end, she says she wouldn't have traded that moment with her daughter sharing New York Fries for anything! Congratulations, Jamie!
Current Challenge: Add up all your hours/minutes of cardio activity. You can add up everything you do at the gym (bike- 86 min, elliptical, 138 min, etc, etc, etc) AND you can add up anything extra you do. Anything from going out to the club (as long as your dancing, not just trolling! ;] ), swimming, bike-riding, roller blading, anything. Just try to keep it honest with the fact that it's cardio. If you walk to work every day (like me!), I don't think you can count those 15-20 minutes as cardio since they're not getting your heart rate up that high. If you're doing something where you can still keep a conversation going, but you have to breathe a lot heavier, you're in the activity range we're talking!

Okay I'm back! I have no new ideas for challenges really, all I can think of is possibly doing a challenge where we add up minutes of one specific exercise, like running. Or see who can do the most jumping jacks or squats in a week. That sounds a bit silly though now that I type it out. Hmmm... we could do something like a color challenge where we have to eat as many healthy green things or red things...
Unless anyone has any better ideas?? I'm not too good at thinking up challenge ideas :P
I like the colour one!
Okay cool! So if everyone's okay with that we'll do the color challenge this week. At the end of the week post all the things or how many things you ate of that color! Does anyone want to pick a color to get things started?
I think we should start by listing what healthy foods go with what colors, to determine where we could fit the most in.
RED
apples
strawberries
grapes (red ones at least)
peppers
beets
radishes
red beans?
red cabbage
tomato
GREEN
lettuce
celery
cucumber
pepper
chives
green onions
spinach
kale
avocado
green apples
peas
green beans
broccoli
edamame
snap pea
Thoughts? Suggestions? Preferences?
Looks like there are more healthy green foods, so why don't we do green?
Starting.... now! :)
sounds good to me too, I've been busy but will try to do this one ![]()
Sounds good! Are we starting today?
I think so, it's monday.... though I'm losing so far, nothing green, except a greenish yellow pear so far, LOL!!
When was now? Sunday night? So for me monday morning(now)-sunday night?
Edit: It's tuesday not monday! So I assume 'now' was monday night, so we're doing monday to sunday as usual but starting a little bit late... Let me see, did I eat anything green last night? Um....I went out for a curry and I ate the cucumber and lettuce from the salad garnish (a few slices + a couple of leaves) and I had a piece of paneer in spinach...so I could call that lot together one serving of green I suppose. This morning I've eaten easter cake (lemony cake yellow icing, and cream and raspberry filling) so no green yet!
Edit:
Monday-salad garnish and the spinach in the paneer curry
Tuesday-3 celery stalks, green pepper, spinach
Yes, 'now' was monday (yesterday) night so we're starting a little late but I didn't end up eating anything green that was healthy yesterday, so hopefully I'll do better today...
I'm going skiing tomorrow and won't be back on here for a week so I'm going to post everything green from the last 7 days of my log. I haven't done very well compared to the amount of greenery I usually eat though! I normally eat at least one massive green salad a day with lettuce, spinach, celery, cucumber and spring onions but haven't had a single one all week-I've actually had a really unhealthy week.
Saturday-peas
Sunday-green beans, peas
Monday-salad garnish and the spinach in the paneer curry
Tuesday-3 celery stalks, green pepper, spinach
Wednesday-spinach
Thursday-spinach, peas
Friday-spinach, green beans, green pepper
=14 serving
Okay so I'm a bit late on posting my food for the colour challenge, but here I go:
Monday: green apple, cilantro, green tea (if that counts, cos it is green - and healthy!)
Tuesday: lettuce leaves, pear, 2 green teas
Wednesday: pesto, green tea
Thursday: green apple, cilantro, green onions, green tea
Friday: green apple, 2 green teas
Saturday: 4 green teas
Sunday: 3 green teas, broccoli
Anyone else going to post theirs?? :)
I had romaine lettuce pretty much everyday haha. BUT I do have a lot of other brightly colored veggies! This week has been totally plant-based and I'm feeling great.
