losing weight, clothes and irritation

Quote  |  Reply

Three years ago I wore size 16 pants. I've lost 55 pounds since then. I'm still wearing the same jeans. Of course they fit better, but seriously-- what the heck?! The only thing that really looks skinnier is my face and neck, but I don't think I was storing 55 lbs there! Not only that, but my bra cup size went from a D to a DDD as I've lost weight. ....stupid body.

When will I get to a 14?! And why is my chest getting bigger?!

...sorry for the rant, just frustrated.

maybe it's tough for you to see because you look at yourself in the mirror everyday

have you tried on a pair of 14's? and do you have before and after pictures you can look at?

Your cup size really hasnt changed.  But rather, when you were heavier your breasts were more distributed across a wider area and therefore were slightly flattened.  Does that make sense?

I have the same deal.  I went from a 34 C,  (pushing a 36).  I am now close to a 32 and my cup size is D.  Before kids and fat pants I was a 32 DD.  I still have 30 lbs to go.  Maybe I will return to that DD cup.  I hope not.  I would rather be an A.  lol

you have to realize that bra size is a ratio of the measurement around the ribs and around the breasts themselves.  The difference between the two numbers determines the A, B etc. So while you've lost weight around your middle and the measurement around your ribs has dropped while you lost body fat your breasts haven't dropped as far so the difference between them has gotten bigger and thus your cup size has gone up.  I recently found out (due to finding someone at Victoria Secret who actually knew something, weird cuz its a mall job) that if, like me, you are a DD and having a hard time finding bras you can go from a 32DD to a 34D and the bra will have a really good chance of fitting.  It works Sealed  Here is a link with the info on bra sizes http://www.intimateguide.com/products/article s/ultimate/ ;

As for the jeans I feel your pain.  The 22s I still have can still be worn. Its sorta depressing.  My suggestion (Its great for the ego) is to go to the store and try on pants. I can wear 18s too.

Weight comes mostly off of the extremities first, then later from areas like the hips/waist in females or the gut/lovehandles in males. It's kind of an outward-in sort of proccess.

Yes, it is still strange you'd still be wearing the same size though. Have you measured your waist? Are you wearing jeans by a different manufacturer? That could play a role.

However, sometimes these things can be deceiving. For a woman, the hips are larger than the waist. If the jeans are resting on the hips, you could lose quite a bit off the waist and they still wouldn't be falling down, just be sitting slightly lower. Have you tried a smaller size?

I'm in the same situation -- I have jeans in 14 and 16s at home that are HUGE on me - falling off, 90's rapper style baggy.  I try on 14s at the store, and they're too tight.  Granted, many are of a different brand, but STILL!  I feel the frustration.  30 lbs and no smaller clothes... yet.

My problem is the opposite, i keep losing pant sizes but i haven't lost any top sizes, I was a 2x and while stretch 1x kind of fit me, normal 1x doesn't, but i have lost 4 pant size. I'm not mad but frustrated cause every time i try a top i get very depress.

Don't know about the bra size, but I would bet that your jeans have shrunk!! A lot.  I have several pants that I could wear snugly when I was 135 and now that I'm 123ish, the pants don't fit at all.  Go try on some new ones!!

Jeans sizes vary all the time based on manufacturer, amount of "stretch" in them, and by YEAR even. I have jeans in three different sizes from Old Navy that fit me perfectly, and I've noticed that the smaller sizes are from more recent purchases. Clearly, jeans even from the same manufacturer can vary in size based on the cut as well (high, low rise, skinny fit, etc). I would suggest that you stop looking at the number on the jeans and just get a new pair of pants that fits you well and you feel good in.

There's really no way to tell what size you are anymore b/c of the crazy variance among fits and manufacturers. :) Good luck and congrats on your amazing weight loss!

 OMG, That is totally my thing too!  I am at 177, down from 213 and still wearing the same size shirt, yet 1-2 sizes smaller in pants.  Ahhhhh.
