Okay so I wanted to GAIN some weight. I was at 105, and I wanted to be at 110.
So I uped my cals, right?
AND NOW I WEIGH 101! And that's AFTER I've eaten two BIG meals today.
I was only eating 1000 cals/day before, now I'm at 1500, after a few weeks. Eventually I hope to be at a solid 1800, but I'm still working on it.
But I really don't want to lose more weight. And I don't want to gain gross weight, either, because you can still weigh 110, have no muscle, but still have lots of fat.
I'm really trying to gain muscle. Any tips? I do pretty though Pilates every day, and go on an hour long walk with my dog right before dinner.
I freaking HOARD protein; cottage cheese, salmon, tuna, shrimp...etc. I have a big helping of protein with every meal.
Ugh, I don't know. I feel so gross, being so tiny.
1500 is still a weight-loss intake for most adult women. Which is why you've lost weight. Even 1800 will only allow you to maintain your weight, if you're lucky. You've probably geed up your metabolism a little by eating more but if you're serious about gaining you've got to get your intake much higher.... 2500 - 3000 on a regular basis.
I don't understand what 'gross weight' is.... body-weight is body-weight. If you want to gain muscle you need to get past 2500 cals a day and turn the extra energy you're taking in to muscle by means of some strengthening/resistance exercises. But no cardio, obviously.
Protein is good but you need plenty of carbohydrates and fats to make up the full picture. So come on... you can do it. If you don't like being underweight go for that 1800 tomorrow, 2000 by the weekend and 2500 at the start of next week. Good luck.
