why am i not losing weight?
i don't eat but really two times a day because i'm not usually hungry in the mornings, many days i don't have over 1000 calories. i've been working out 6 times a week for the past 2 weeks and my weight hasn't budged... ![]()
Oh goodness. If I wasn't busy at work I would take this but I will let someone else.
I got it.
You are starving yourself.
A sedentary middle aged 5'3" woman needs a minimum of 1200 calories a day just to run her body. I'm going to assume that you are possibly taller, definitely NOT sedentary and likely not 50 years old. SO, you will need more than 1200 calories a day JUST TO LIVE.
If you don't give your body enough fuel to run, it will slow your metobolism (hence, you will not feel hungry or lose weight), if you do this long enough your body will literally eat itself, it will eat your muscles, it will eat the protective sacks that contain your organs.
YOU NEED TO EAT MORE. Once you have put your metabolism back in order, then you can cut 500-800 calories a day MAX and you will lose weight.
What are your stats??
Edit: At 19, 5'6" and 145 lbs, you need to be eating at least 2000-2500 calories a day, you brain and other process are not done developing until you are well into your 20s. Depriving yourself now is only setting yourself up for a possible eating disorder and a mirade of other serious health issues later in life.

I just have to add - by 'cut 500-800 calories a day MAX' she doesn't mean you can eat 500-800 calories for a whole day.
(Some people may need clarification if you know what I mean). ![]()

Indeed, thanks for pointing that out. I meant WHAT YOU BURN minus 500 to 800, as long as it is ALWAYS above 1800 (for a young female).
okay, well i don't have an eating disorder by all means. i love eating, but it's just usually the wrong stuff haha, i will try eating more. thanks.
God, i can't believe I'm saying this...
You're not eating enough so your body's storing what it can get. If you're going to work out that much then you're going to need to eat more or you're not going to lose.
It's retarded and I can't believe I've actually told a dieter that they need to eat more, because I loathe the fact that's most of the advice on here, but seriously you do need to eat more and you'll start losing. Conservation mode. It sucks.
I'm sure someone will calculate just how much you should eat in the next few posts... for the record you should ALWAYS be eating at least 1200 though... over 21 and female means eat at least 1200... Le sigh.
Nobody said you have an eating disorder. However, you just need a better understanding of how much your body needs and the correct way to approach weight loss. At least that's what I gathered. People tend to be very misled in so many ways with weight loss. You and millions and millions of others. In fact, probably most of the members here thought that was the way to do it at some point. Now, we learn better ways so we practice those better ways and help others who need the help. ![]()
Just start looking around the site and the forums and it will all start to make sense. Don't hesitate to ask questions.
I am going to say what everyone else has said you need to eat. You will not loose weight starving your body will feed on itself, then you go into starvation mode. Very, very, dangerous....you need to eat the prescribed # of calories, you will loose weight, try grains, vegetables, and water. Lot' of water it will fill you up. I eat a lot of nuts, seeds, and raw veggies to get up to my Eat Meter.

I wasn't trying to say you have one, I was just saying that eating too little now, may set you up for a lifetime of disordered eating...I didn't mean to accuse you of having an ED.
When you first bring your calories back up, you may gain a few pounds while your body gets used to it, but please don't be discouraged, you will lose it once your metabolism is back on track. Good luck!

Yay! Someone else says "conservation" mode. My body is conserving, I am not starving it! I know, just words.
i'm having the same exact problem. i usually wont go over 800 cals and i've been stuck at the same weight for two weeks. maybe try some metabolism boosters like green tea? or exercise in the mornings? thats what im gunna try at least. best of luck!

Did you read the other posts? If I am reading your post correctly, this is not healthy advice. I apologize if I'm misinterpreting your post, but it seems you are in need of the same advice already given to the original poster. Please reconsider your caloric intake and be healthy!
You should also be starting your day with breakfast. Even if your not hungry it would be good to at least have a little cereal or fruit to give your metabolism something to start burning. Good Luck!
