Why am I not losing weight??
Hi Everyone,
I am hoping you can provide some insight. I'm 5'9 145lbs and wish to lose about 10lbs.
I generally eat reasonably healthy - between 1200-1700 cal/day, and it's usually right around the 1400 mark. My meals are generally nutritious, although I do admit to snacking on popcorn more than I should at night. I bike at a moderate pace for at least 25 minutes 6 days a week, walk about 30 minutes 5 days a week and do yoga once or twice a week.
I have been counting my calories, watching what I eat and exercising regularly for about a month now, however, I haven't seen any results. I'm hoping you can provide some suggestions and/or tips for me? Or things I'm overlooking?
Thanks!!
Hi Toodle
at your height it doesn't seem that you are terribly overweight... it seems the body resists letting go of the last bit of weight... I'm 5'2" and 127 lbs and would like to lose about 10 lbs - it seems almost impossible but I've just started fast five yesterday... early days but I'm happy to share my progress with you...

I would say it's because you don't need to lose weight and your body knows it. At 5'9 and 145lbs your BMI is 21.4 which is towards the lower end of the heathly range. Although losing 10 pounds won't put you in the underweight catergory, since you're already at a healthy weight it's going to be much harder to lose weight. My suggestion is upping your exercise and looking at the quality of the food you're eating (i.e. whole foods vs processed foods).
Good luck!
