I have a great steamer, however those nights you don't feel like cleaning up your steamer baskets afterwards, these little steamer bags are HANDY!  They are a bit pricey (in my opinion) however, I have used the same bag 3 times so far and it's still holding up just fine!  I only use frozen veggies and in 11 minutes...VOILA!  Perfectly steamed veggies.  I just toss the bag in a sink of soapy water and rinse!

The only down side to these is, the largest bag only cooks about 400 grams of broccoli so if my husband wants vegggies, he has to cook his own ;) LOL

OH, I live by those.

I take 2 cups of frozen veggies to work, and steam them there with a tiny bit of promise butter tossed in ontop, and lemon pepper seasoning.

SO delicious

Can you wash them out and resuse them?

I looked at the price and almost flung it back on the shelf. LOL

i have reused the same bag 3 times so far and it's still perfectly fine.

ive been using normal ziploc bags for it, shud be no problem
I love them! I have been reusing mine, too. I have been finding coupons for them in the Sunday paper. Stuff seems to cook faster in them too. Also, I got a Foodsaver vacuum sealer for Christmas (awesome). I buy huge family size bags of veggies at Sam's and seal them in smaller portions. When you're ready to cook just cut a little slit in the bag and throw it in the microwave just like those steam bags!!
I steam my veggies in just a regular plastic container with a lid that i poked slits in and I put some water on the bottom fill it up with the veggies and microwave it for a few minutes and it works just as well as the bags and i always have containers on hand.

Scroll down to where it says "NEW! Healthy Weight, Immunity Boost, and Healthy Vision"

These are pretty great too.  The Healthy Weight tastes wonderful, very fresh with a light sauce.  These aren't mushy either.  They have a whole line of these that just came out.  There are different veggie combinations, even one with potatoes.  They are extremely low calorie and fill you up.  A great lunch option!

theluckiest (is your screenname from the Ben Folds song "The Luckiest"? That song is too sweet), I am eating the Healthy Vision tonight. I hope it tastes good!!!

But I have to agree wth many people on here. I just use a container that I vent with a tad bit of water in it. And, since that's something I reuse it's better for the environment. When I see those Healthy Choice Steamers, I just want to scream! They are soooo wasteful!

i agree that a reuseable container is the best way to go. i sometimes also use a microwaveable glass dish (pyrex or corning ware) inside one of the plastic bags they have in the vegetable section of the grocery store. i tuck the open end partially under the dish, so there's a route for steam to escape. they're almost always handy, since i usually bring veggies home in one, and they're recyclable along with other plastic grocery bags after you use them.
how do you guys keep it from being umm..ooghy on the one side when cooking reuseable plain old containers? Im sorta picky about texture.

Im used to the even steam my metal thing gives me. You know that kind that you just drop in a pot.

Anyone use a good rice steamer thats also good for veggies? Like one of those machines..not a pot or bag.
I have a plastic microwave steamer - same principal as the metal ones, but you put it in the microwave, don't need to clean pots and pans or anything. And you can put it in the dishwasher. It's a bit harder to get the vegetables cooked exactly right - they cook much quicker inthe microwave, but it's so much easier, and you don't need to throw it away after :)
Most of the time I just microwave my veggies in a plain old cereal bowl with a plate on top. No water required. 6 minutes. Eat in same container. Works great!
I seriously eat like a bag of broccoli a day...thank you very much.

Tupperware sells different containers that are great for steaming veggies. The rock-n-serve is great because they come in different sizes and you can take them to work.
I just tried them the other day and they are godsent!!!

Hi, for those worried about the price...if you have a $1 store or 99cents store near you, they sell them in all sizes and they work really well!
