Losing weight after pregnancy..help
I have 2 wonderful boys, a three year old and a 6 week old. I gained 50 lbs with this last pregnancy and now I can't get it off! I know I did this to myself but if anyone out there could give me some pointers I would really appreciate it. I am exhausted, and recently lost my job that I loved. I am toilet training my son who REFUSES to use the potty. Anyone? I am alway hungary and too tired to give a crap to do anything else. Oh help!
I too gained 50lbs during my pregnancy. I dropped 20lbs right after having her but need to lose that last 30lbs! She is 13 weeks...I feel your pain! I am starting today on a 1200-1600 calorie meal intake.
Good luck!
It can be super hard to look after a newborn and take care of a two year old, let alone try to eat properly - I'm in the same boat with my boys - 2yrs and 8wks. First, if your oldest refuses to use the potty, cut yourself some slack and tell yourself he may not be ready. No sense in you killin' yourself to make it work when he won't help out. As for the weight loss - it's been uber slow for me too. I have only lost 0.5lb since leaving the hospital. I"m trying to stick to only eating 1800 cal a day and I'm working out at least three days a week. I don't have enough energy to do more than that at this point. I can't wait until I am able to sleep thru the night again! I have been trying to eat a lot of veggies and fruit to keep the cals down, but the always hungry thing is hard for me too. I make sure that I always have a protein bar in my diaper bag, so that if I'm out, I can avoid a drive thru. When I'm at home, I've started grabbing fruit or a can of V8 for a snack. I'm hoping that eating little meals will help avoid the massive hunger at 8pm that's causing me to binge.
Hope this helps (for both of us!)
I have a 4 week old, and have lost about 36 lbs to date, back to lower than my weight PRIOR to this pregnancy. But still have 100+ to loose from the LAST pregnancy.
I am breastfeeding
I eat 1800 calories per day
I drink 2.5 liters of water
and I dont snack on crazy stuff, i log EVERYTHING, even when i eat something not so noble...
I am also using coping methods to deal with my stress
DEALING with the stress that you are confronted with will be a HUGE part of it, the stress is the bandit here, trust me!!!
unload some of your burdon if you can, family friends, whatever, get as much support as you can!!!
bigbitty - that's awesome! My little one is now almost 4 months old and I am still struggling to lose the weight. I have 19lbs to go. I am VERY active - I exercise intensely 4 times a week and I log my food. I'm trying to stay at 1500cal each day, since the 1600-1800 didn't produce much in the way of results. I am still finding that I am hungry though. It wasn't this bad before the baby was here.
As for the stress - the whole thing is stressful, but you're right. You gotta let it go and ask for help. I find things a lot better when my husband is in town, but when he's away - YIKES! Stress level is on the rise. I'm hoping once he's in town a bit more that the weight will come off.
Good luck on your journey to lose the weight from your last pregnancy. Are you able to get to the gym or out for walks?
no gym yet, in 1.5 weeks my doc will give me the OK.
As far as walks, maybe 2-3 times per week.
Its really strange, earlier in the year I was eating 1500 cal and didnt lose much at all! and now I am eating 1800, and I am seeing a great loss. I guess its finding the magic number for your own body, because 2000 didnt work, nor did 1200 for me, weird!
I have soooo much to lose though. I just have to take everything one step at a time!
Steph,
I am in the same boat. I have 55lbs to lose after having my son. (And I'm a military spouse too). If you want a buddy help motivate you let me know. =)
Hi Ladies,
I am new to this calorie count website because I want to get back to my pre-pregnancy body. I have lost some weight but seem to be stuck at 142pounds. I lost a total of 17 pounds after having the baby.
I measure at 5'0 ft. and have a medium built not skinny petite but more athletic petite, my problem relies on my upper body. Before I became pregnant I weighed at 119, I gained a total of 40 pounds and as soon as started breast feeding I started noticing that I was getting bigger specially in my back from breastfeeding. My mom made all sorts of soups and told me that I needed to eat more, so I guess that must of did it. I shouldn't of listen to her because I think I over did it and now its a struggle to loose the weight.
I feel lazy some times and I can't get to the gym because I rather go home after work to be with my son. I was good before but them I fall off. He'll be 5 months tomorrow and I still feel like a big girl, specially in the top area of my body. I am a size 10 now and a Medium up top almost a large, from being a size 2 and being close to an x-small at times.
I'm feeling very chunky and am not happy with myslef and I figured I needed to do something about it before my baby turned 1 and then it would be a definite struggle. My calorie counter says I need to maintain a 1200 calorie intake, which sounds very low, but I will try my VERY best to stick with it. And I will try to walk more often and keep moving more so I can burn more of it off.
I hope being on this site helps me motivate myself to reach for my goal. I haven't given myself a set-goal, meaning I want to loose it all by a certain date, because I don't know if my body will be able to do it, has anyone here set a set date or is it better to just follow the 2 pound a week method.
I appreciate your help and advice.
Steph- I can be your buddy!
Thanks guys!![]()
Hello Steph and All!
My baby boy is 22 days old today. I gained about 30 lbs while pregnant. I dropped the first 15 after giving birth and have since gained one pound back. So no weight loss AT ALL since giving brth.
I know my eating habits have been bad since I have been home. Funny since the last month of pregnancy I had no appetite whatsoever! Now I have been eating lots of high carb high sugar foods and have found no energy or motivation to exersize at all, even to take my dog for a walk, my husband has had to do that!
How do you mommies find the motivation or energy to get to the gym/ get active???
I am exclusivly breastfeeding as well and have been tol that if you cut calories too much you will effect you milk supply. Then told by someone else that even if you dont eat anythig at all your body will keep making milk and only you will suffer, but not baby. Any thoughts on this?
I have been a CC member for years now, but havent been on since I got pregnant, lad to have found this forum!
