I recently found out that I'm pregnant and I can't seem to lose any more weight. Is it safe to still lose weight? Is it normal to experience period-like cramps? I think I'm only 3-4 weeks. I go to a doctor next week.

I think the safest way to handle this is see what the doctor has to say about dieting when you are pregnant. It doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but I have never been pregnant. Its only a week. :)
I wouldn't be trying to lose anymore weight. I don't know if it's "normal" to get cramps, but I did get them too during my first pregnancy(the first 2 months or so) when I would usually be getting my period. My doctor actually got mad at me when I wasn't gaining weight very well, he thought I was dieting, which I wasn't, but the first few months I pretty much completely lost my appetite. I definitely made up for that though the last couple of months :)
I had slight cramps with my last baby, but don't know if they are "normal". If they get sever definitely go to the doctor though. I wouldn?t try to loose weight either. The baby is now needing your nutrition so keep eating healthy.
I've never been pregnant, but the missus has.
All I'll say is that a doctors never suggested restricting the diet during her pregnancies, but always eating whenever possible. The baby needs all of the nutrition you can give it, and some of it isn't in the typical modern diet, which means extra effort is needed (they had this thing about folic acid...).
In any matter, just: http://tinyurl.com/2nez8y, and for pity's sake, don't get caught up in that silly idea that you'll just have to lose it after the birth (i.e. "I don't want to be fat afterwards, so I won't eat now").
Congratulations on the baby!

Yeah, Folic Acid is a big thing. When I called to make my first appointment, they told me to start taking folic acid until I got my prescription for my vitamins
Oooh! You must be so excited! Congratulations!
I had cramps in the first few weeks when i was pregnant. And i lost about 2 stone (12kilo) during the pregnancy. My son was born weighing in at 10lbs8!
As has been said before, eat healthy nutricious whole foods, relax, gentle exercise, and enjoy it while it lasts!

First of all CONGRATS!!!
When I was pregnant my midwife wanted me to lose weight but she did not want me to diet. She wanted me to eat about 2.000 calories a day and cut out all sugar, white flour, and bad fats. It was really hard but for the most part I did it. I did not lose wwight but my weight gain was pretty small and at the end she said thats really what she wanted, she really did not want me to gain 50 plus pounds.
I would start by cutting out all sugars, white flour and eat lots and lots of protien. Our bradely birth plan was for 80 to 80 grams of protein a day. Its alot but its really good for your baby!!

You actually need to eat more now, so dieting is out. I believe it's 300-500 extra calories per day your body needs, someone will need to confirm tho, I haven't been pregnant in about 9 years! Just don't give in to all the bad, "fast food" you can still eat healthy and gain a healthy amount of weight.
Congrats to you!!!!
Yes cramps are usually normal...but you should go see your dr and let them know how your feeling. I don't think you need to try to lose weight while being pregnant, but what you can do is continue to eat healthy and that will benefit you baby and you in the long run! Good luck!
Ejoy :)

Well I honeslty would not try to lose weight while pregnant. I however did lose weight with both pregnancys because I had morning sickness so bad. But it didnt matter cause once the morning sickness was gone I gained it all back. As for the cramps, I had them like a mother with my first pregnancy I was so worried and called the doctor non stop, they told me that it is the muscles stretching they even showed me the diagram with all the muscles down there. And yes I know your not big enough for the muscles to be stretching, I wasnt either, but thats what they said it was any my daughter is 7 1/2 now.
When I was pregnant, my doctor told me the best way to lose weight, or keep weight off was by eating less than I normally do, and letting your body take it out of your fat reserves. He did not tell me to starve myself.
I was eating about 2000 calories or more a day. He told me to cut down about 200-300 calories in what I would normally eat in a day, and it would NOT be harmful to the baby. But he also told me not to keep doing that once I had no more fat left on my body because it would start to come out of my organs since I would not have much muscle due to my pregnancy.
I think you should look up how many calories a pregnant woman should consume in one day and then bring this to the attention of your doctor, and ask if it is ok. I don't know if you are high risk, or what not.

You shouldn't technically diet during pregnancy unless you're under the guidance of a physician. A pregnant women usually needs about 300 calories extra starting in the late 1st to 2nd trimester.
The best thing to do is just to make healthy choices. To reiterate other posts, just choose to eat lean meats, veggies, fruit, whole grains etc. and limit "bad" fat and sugars, etc. So eat healthy not diet.
