Losing weight for surgery.

Quote  |  Reply

So, I'm a female-to-male transsexual and I'm going to be having chest reconstruction surgery within the next year. So, in order to have the best results for it, I want to lose as much weight as I can.

I'm a little over 160lbs right now at 5'6". :/ I want to be 125lbs by the time I go in for surgery. So that's about a loss of 35lbs.

I went from 175lbs to 135lbs last summer and then gained a whole bunch of it back during my freshman year of college.

So, I guess I was just hoping for advice or encouragement?

hey I can't really help you but just wanted to post here cos I'm a transguy too. I'm in the opposite boat though, I'm trying to gain weight cos I'm tiny with no muscle haha. but good luck man!

Hi! Nice to meet you. Good luck. :)

I know its a tad cliche, but I've found that when I am in that "Me hungry, me want food" mindset, drinking a glass of water before eating really does help.

Congrats on the surgery.

I've been drinking diet iced tea and I don't know if that's really bad for my diet or what, but it does keep me full.

Hmm. I'm friends with both m2f and f2m transsexuals (took gender classes in college and met a whole bunch of cool people there). But I can't remember them having to lose weight for surgery, although maybe they just didn't tell me about it.

I agree with what others have said about including enough protein and fat and exercising.

I snack on fruits and veges as a low-calorie way to fill up.

Watch your portions - measure things if possible, it's surprising (and depressing) to see what serving sizes actually are. But if you want to lose weight, yeah I strongly suggest measuring your food.

I'd suggest weight training combined with cardio, you might not lose as much weight due to muscle gains but you will lose fat, which is the important thing for surgery.

How does the testosterone affect your weight?
