I've been out of work for a long while now, and at first eating was all I did, but since I started on my weight loss journey I've got it back together and I've just binged maybe twice in four months.
Last week I got sick with a cold and since that my appetite has decreased. The last few days I haven't been able to eat in the morning, constantly felt nauseous and just been able to eat certain kinds of food (vegetables, low fat yogurt). My cold is gone, but so is my appetite. Sugar is the last thing I want to think about.
The day before yesterday I didn't realise I should eat until about 2pm... and it was still hard forcing something down. What's happened to me? How do I get back on track? I used to be such a food girl.
Thanks in advance,
Maja
hope u don't have the swine flu...makes u tired , loss of apetite and throw up all the time....
^ What a stupidly unhelpful comment.
If it's only been a few days, it's normal to lose your appetite when you're ill. Keeping up fluids is more important. You could try some simple vegetable dishes, or something easy like toast (butter it!) or soup or yoghurt (leave out the low fat stuff for now!) Someone else might shout me down, but I think when you're ill it's better to curl up and look after yourself than to bash yourself over the head with counting calories. Eat what you can and make sure you drink plenty of water, hope you feel better soon.
please, don't be so passive!
now and days u have to be preparred for the worst, i
m just saying be cautious and get checked, its not stupid if its spreading accros the us like the blacque plauge...
if its not its not....but who said it couldn't of been a suggestion?? when the symptoms are similar, cold flue phemonia swine flu so
whatever
I wouldn't suggest worrying at ALL about counting calories until you feel better. Especially since you're ill and won't be overeating anyway. Try to get some healthy food in you, because not eating won't make anything better - your immune system needs some calories now!
Well, she's in Brighton not the US...
If you've recently been to Mexico, by all means give NHS Direct a call... if not, go with the common cold I think.
you are starting to feel better so that is what is important. your appetite will come back. as bairn said eat what you can without worrying about the calories. drink plenty of fluids and if you feel like you need to take a nap then do so. don't let the idea of the flu bother you. if you had it then you are recovering. it only negatilvely effects the young, old and the immunocompromised. no point in being tested.
Ignore the swine flu stupidity, when you are sick your body naturally loses its interest in food as often your nose blocks which means you lose your smell and taste senses.
Give your body a chance to recover, keep eating just small good items like others have suggested, have some oj and then when you are feeling back to normal sickness wise your appetite will naturally increase as you start expending more energy.
