how I lost 9 pound in 6 days

Quote  |  Reply
No excersize, on average 1550 calories. my mom found this detox thing in a magazine and my mom tried it, it says you can lose up to 18 pounds in 11 days, and you are consuming enough calories. The first time she did it she weighed herself at the 7 day mark and had lost 11 pounds. This time around I decided to do it with her and I have lost 9 pound in just 6 days!

Breakfast: chose one daily
Option #1: fast track smoothie.
Option #2: 2 eggs, 2 cups steamed spinach, juice of 1/2 lemon, 1 cup berries, and 1 tbsp ground flaxseed.

Lunch: Chose one daily
Option #1: 4oz. salmon or turkey breast, 2 cups of lettuce with 1/4 cup of each onion, radish, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, olives, and 1 tbsp each of olive oil and vinegar.
Option #2: 4oz. lean burger, 1 cup sateed veggies, 2 cups lettuce with cucumbers, tomatoes, celery, oilves and 1 tbsp each of olive oil and vinegar.

Dinner: Chose one daily
Option #1: 4oz. chicken breast with sauteed onions, garlic, lemon and parsley to taste, 1/2 cauliflower, and 4 artichoke hearts.
Option #2: 4oz. lean beef with 2 tsp spice rub, 1 small baked potato, 1/2 cup of steamed broccoli, 1/2 cup steamed asparagus, adn 1 tsp. each olive oil and lemon juice.

Snacks: chose two daily:
Option #1: 2 hard-boiled eggs, and 1 cup fresh cut veggies
Option #2: 1 orange, pear or apple
Option #3: 2 stalks of celery, and 1 small raw carrot
Option #4: fast track smootie

Fast track smoothie recipe:
In a blender whip 1 cup water, 1 cup frozen berries, 1 scoop of vanilla whey powder, 1 tbsp flaxseed oil, 1 tbsp ground flaxseed, 2 tsp lemon juice, 1 tsp unsweetened cranberry juice, 1 packet of stevia (natural sweetener) and 8 ice cubes.

Jump start juice day:
after using the menu for one week, it's time for a 24 hour "juice fast" to accelerate fat burning and the detox process. Bring 8 oz unsweetened cranberry juice and 7 cups of filtered water to a ligth boil; reduce heat. Add 1/2 tsp ground cinnimon, 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg, and 1/4 tsp ground ginger. Simmer 15-20 minutes. Strain througha coffee filter. Cool to room temperature. Stir in 3/4 cup orange juice and 1/4 lemon juice, preferably fresh. Add stevia to taste if desired. sip one cup of fluids per hour alternating 1 cup of water and cup jumpstart juice. Aim for 9 cups water total.

Day 1-7 use menus
Day 8 jumpstart juice day
Day 9-11 use menus and also adding in 1 cup plain low-fat yogurt daily.
Daily water divide your body weight in half and drink that many oz. each day.

This works I swear! and it keeps me satisfied all day. Try it and let me know if it works for you!

Why not start a trend?? Smile

haha, I don't think we even have a microwave, and eating in your office when you don't have tons of work to do is considered to be anti-social.

i'd be super interested in knowing how many inches you lost and if it's stayed off....

my only problem would be bringing my lunch to work. I live in germany, and NO ONE brings their lunch to work at my office. like, ever.

Why not start a trend?? Smile

i agree! :)

I'm curious...what magazine did your mother find this detox diet in?
for those of you who are wondering, I started out about 3 years ago losing weight. I am 5'3'', back then I was 180 pounds and 13/14ish. I am almost 17 now and before I did this thing I was 139 pounds and I am now 131. (okay so my scale was off by a pound.)

It was in a january 2007 issure of woman's world magazine.
18 pounds in 11 days? Water weight. Definitely. Also, losing 18 lbs. in 11 days is NOT healthy. But hey, if you're looking to yo-yo diet...
i was just online half the night researching diet pills and trying to find some unbiased reviews. there are tons of these "detox" diets. the do work but only for a big event or quick fix. it's all water weight and toxins. once you are done w the program you will gain it all right back. i must admit it's tempting though...even if just to be skinny for a few days. good luck!

hey karliann

did you lose inches? and how long has it stayed off?

Good for you!

I have done that diet and many others (lemonade diet where I didn't eat food for 11 days + more) in the past and you're right, you lose a bunch of weight.   Problem is, like they're saying it's not FAT.  I welcome your post and no negativity involved, it's just that you get those types of responses because we all know 3500 calories = 1 lb of fat (approx) and most of us are aiming toward fat.  Regardless, they are a healthy combinations of foods and if you ate that every day you can't go wrong.

I have a good good friend who just told me that if she lifts weights she loses 10 lbs in a week.  She's my friend and I didn't argue, but when we are educated about fat and weight loss we just know it's not true in her situation.  In yours, it's very interesting and those diets are good for one thing, my stomach always seemed flat for whatever reason (whether I didn't have a bunch of carbs in my intestinal tract or whatever) so if I wanted to throw on a tight dress I would feel good, but once I ate normally again it always came right back, within a day or two.

I think it's great to detox, we have so many toxins within.

I lost about 8 pounds on a detox program last year. It is an awesome way to cleanse your body.  I agree with the comment that it is all relative to what you have eaten prior to starting.  I did it last year after the holidays in February. I was carrying extra weight from  the holiday.  I was feel sluggish. The detox program helped me drop the weight and get back on track...  My energy level really increased. I am getting ready to do it again... My plan is once a year... for health and a few extra pounds.  It is definitely a "quick fix".  It is more about flushing your system.

Looks pretty much like an Atkins low carb diet to me.

Detox "diets" are just that, they are a special diet to help rid your body of the garbage. No they are not a long-term answer, but they certainly can help jump-start a new habit. There are people out there who have a hard time controlling what they are eating, and they get very hungry, so something like this might be great for them to lose some excess water weight, gain control over their eating, and then start planning what to do when they are done with the "diet" for long-term results. I  fasted processed foods for 2 weeks, eating only fruits, veggies and nuts, and lost 10 pounds. Coming off of it however, I gained 5 pounds back (because i started eating normal..and perhaps it's water weight from eating more high-sodium foods), but I have since stabilized and have gone back to losing again. Just because you do a detox diet, doesn't mean you'll gain every pound back when you're done, it just means you should plan for 2 weeks, what you will eat from then on.

There is no magical formula, everyone's body is different. Way to go Karliann with trying to make some healthy changes in your life, and for losing 9 pounds.

Wow, sounds like the infamous Fat Flush with the mystery fat burning cranberry juice...

Have to be honest though, water weight or not, this plan works and I have been known to follow it before a big event, knowing full well I can't make the weight loss stick.

if nothing else, it sure feels nice to jump start the weight loss and to stay positive with dieting!

Your body is pretty good at ridding itself of this garbage, all "detox diets" do is slow your system down and decrease the efficiency at which it processes "toxins".  No they are not a long-term answer Not only are they not a long term answer, they are also a short term hinderance, but they certainly can help jump-start a new habit maybe a new habit, but not a good habit. I  fasted processed foods for 2 weeks, eating only fruits, veggies and nuts, and lost 10 pounds How much fat did you loose?. Detox diets are actually counter productive, they slow down the rate at which your body can process bad stuff and they deny you essential nutrients.

Put this into the logs and got 1425 calories with roughly 30% fat, 28% protein, and 42% carbs for the first part of the plan.  Used none of the smoothie recipes, and just picked the first option for everything except for snacks where I used option #2.  Except for the weird "juice day", it actually seems like a pretty solid meal plan for people who aren't working out lots.  Lots of nice unprocessed food in there too, so way more nutritious than those 100 calorie packs o' junk.

Any opinions on what's missing from this meal plan (aside from the juice day)?  I didn't look at nutrients too closely, but it might be a little low on the calcium side?
so for any of you wondering/doubting weather or not it was just water weight and I would gain it back.

I did not complete the 11 days I did the juice fast day and did it for one day after that but I had a little cheat that day as well. I lost 1-2 more pounds the last 3 days I did it.  i have been off it for just over a week now, and I only gained back 2 when I added more carbs back in, and since the that one has come back off again. and do this day I am down 10 pounds from doign this
Just curious how this has been going.  Any reports?

Karliann,

Way to go with losing the weight and for sticking to your guns! Everyone has their own unique way of losing weight and staying in shape and I appreciate that you were willing to share yours.

I know a lot of people do not condone this type of weight loss but I am sure you feel and look awesome and even if you do put a couple of pounds back on, you will still be down. I think I will try this diet too in a few weeks before I go on vacation. For me, I know it will do wonders for my poor snacking habits! Just hope I can be as committed as you were to it and last as long as did.

I don't have the will power to stick to this type of detox program. I wonder how much was not water but waste. I have been told we can store up to 10 pounds when not going regularly. Was your stomach flatter right away? I know this sounds nasty but there are days where I feel so bloated maybe I can stick to this for short period of time just to help regulate my body.
let me ask you this, did you lose any inches off waist, hips, thighs?

Utter crapola. There is no one-fit-all diet, there is no such thing as a juice fast being able to detox ANYTHING-- where is the science on this exactly? Or did you just hear someone else claim that not eating solids for 24 hours somehow "detoxes".

Notice how everything is labeled to get your psyche going. "Fast track" smoothie. "Jump start" juice day.

I'm sorry, karliann. You have to be naive or very new to nutrition and health to believe this stuff. If you lose weight, it will be about 1 pound of fat and the rest water weight. But then if you don't maintain it, you will gain everything back anyway.

Lower your calories = lose weight. This diet has some of that in it, but seriously, that's the exact same thing as CC.
